U.S. Border Patrol agents in El Paso, Texas discovered and rescued 24 immigrants that were being smuggled into the U.S. from unsafe travel conditions. This took place during two different instances. At the first, agents inspected a tractor trailer parked at an intersection and found 16 individuals packed inside a cargo container with insufficient ventilation. At the second, agents from the Las Cruces Station checkpoint inspected a U-Haul and found 18 individuals. Again, these immigrants were being transported without sufficient air flow.
The migrants were traveling from the following countries: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, & Nicaragua. These incidents are included in the 525 smuggling incidents since the beginning of 2022.
