According to an Averitt press release, their associates rallied together across 17 facilities—primarily in Texas—and their corporate office to collect and prepare the holiday cards. The corporate office alone contributed more than 4,000 cards to the initiative. Ensuring no detail was missed, the cards were carefully organized, counted, and prepared to make certain they reached service members in time for the holidays.

This marks another chapter in Averitt’s long-standing collaboration with New Country 96.3 KSCS, a program designed to show appreciation and boost morale for service members during the festive season.

Driven by Purpose Beyond Cards

Averitt further demonstrated its commitment to giving back by pairing this initiative with a financial contribution to Averitt Cares for Kids, the company’s philanthropic organization. Averitt matched the time given by employees to the card program with a donation to the charity, which primarily supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The 10,000 for the Troops program’s mission adheres closely to its name — collect 10,000 holiday cards for troops stationed away from their homes and loved ones. This program is a part of a larger ongoing effort to support our nation’s servicemen and women.

Throughout the year, Averitt’s Team Up Community Challenge, centered in Texas, actively participated in card-signing events. In 2022, associates, inspired by a commercial, enthusiastically signed 1,000 cards, which were later earmarked for delivery to the radio station. Averitt’s Dallas team stepped up when they learned of the logistical challenges faced by the station in delivering the cards.

In a significant development for 2023, Averitt has proudly assumed the role of the official sponsor for the “10,000 for the Troops” program. This sponsorship underscores Averitt’s ongoing commitment to spreading holiday cheer and expressing gratitude to soldiers serving abroad.

“Being far from home is challenging no matter the season, and these personalized cards serve as a connection to the warmth and love of home,” said Gary Sasser, chairman and CEO of Averitt, who served in the Marine Corps Reserves. “We want them to know that we are thinking of them and appreciate what they do for our country.”
