If you’re using a Walker or SR ELD in your truck, it’s time to make a change. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has officially removed both devices from its list of approved ELDs, and drivers now have a limited window to switch to compliant systems.

Which ELDs Were Affected?

The two devices taken off the approved list are:

Walker ELD – Model WAL-R, ELD Identifier WLK790

SR ELD – Model SR-E, ELD Identifier SRE288

Both were removed for failing to meet the technical requirements FMCSA sets for electronic logging devices.

What Drivers Are Required to Do

If you’ve been using either system, you’ll need to stop immediately and begin logging hours using paper logs or compliant logging software while you transition to a new device. FMCSA is giving drivers and carriers until September 29, 2025, to switch over to a registered ELD.

If you continue using one of the revoked devices past that date, you’ll be considered out of compliance. That includes potential citations for not maintaining a valid record of duty status and the risk of being placed out of service under CVSA guidelines.

What If the Device Companies Fix the Issues?

According to FMCSA:

“If the ELD providers correct all identified deficiencies for their device, FMCSA will place the ELD back on the Registered Devices list and inform the industry and the field of the update,” FMCSA said. “However, FMCSA strongly encourages motor carriers to take the actions listed above now to avoid compliance issues in the event that these deficiencies are not addressed by the ELD provider.”

In other words, don’t wait for a fix that might not happen. If you’re running with one of these devices, start the switch now to avoid downtime or violations later.

Why It Matters

This move follows the earlier removal of multiple ELDs earlier this year. With FMCSA continuing to crack down on non-compliant technology, drivers and fleet managers must stay updated. Checking your ELD’s registration status regularly can help avoid major disruptions and keep you compliant on the road.

Kenworth made history once again in Chillicothe, Ohio, by hosting its fourth annual truck parade, paying tribute to a brand that’s been a cornerstone of American trucking for over a century. This year’s celebration took on extra meaning as the legendary Kenworth W900 was honored in its final full year of production.

More than 50 trucks—ranging from custom builds to vintage showpieces—rolled through downtown Chillicothe for the June event. Among them: a 1923 Kenworth, the same year the company was founded, a standout 1966 Kenworth W923, and a crowd-favorite 2000 Kenworth K100E cabover.

“The Kenworth truck parade has become a special Ross County community tradition,” said Jack Schmitt, assistant plant manager at Kenworth’s Chillicothe facility. “The event wouldn’t be possible without the drivers who travel to Chillicothe to share their passion for Kenworth trucks, or without the community support that makes this parade a successful event each year.”

Capping off the event was the first public appearance of the Kenworth W900 Legacy Edition, leading the final leg of the parade and turning heads as a symbol of the model’s storied history. This special edition truck is a commemorative nod to the W900’s last production run.

Before the parade, Kenworth hosted exclusive activities at the Chillicothe plant for participating drivers and their families. Guests toured the state-of-the-art facility, which has seen nearly $400 million in upgrades since 2018, including robotic assembly lines and a cutting-edge paint system.

The Chillicothe plant, which opened in 1974, is set on a sprawling 120-acre site just 50 miles south of Columbus and spans 622,000 square feet. It remains a major hub for Kenworth’s production of modern trucks.

As part of the day’s community outreach, Kenworth teamed up with the United Way of Ross County to hold a 50/50 raffle and VIP-area fundraiser. Local volunteers sold tickets along the parade route, helping raise more than $43,000 for the nonprofit’s community programs.

Also in attendance was Army veteran Cory Troxell, who gained recognition in 2024 as the “Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence” award recipient. He now drives a Kenworth T680 and joined the festivities as a special guest.

For those who appreciate classic iron and trucking culture, Chillicothe continues to be the place where Kenworth’s heritage comes to life—and where its legacy rolls on.

Looking for More Trucking Action in Ohio?
Mark your calendar for the Kuhnle Brothers Semi Stampede, coming to Kuhnle Motorsports Park in Thompson, Ohio, June 27–29. The event promises a weekend full of Quebec-style uphill, side-by-side semi-truck drag races.

Practice kicks off Friday, with races continuing all weekend. Presale tickets are available through June 26 at 5 p.m., with discounts on weekend and single-day passes for adults and kids. Children under five get in free, and camping passes are also available.

Among the competitors: Kevin Bruns of Gallatin, Tennessee, who plans to race his 2019 International LoneStar.

A second drag racing weekend is already in the works for September, so stay tuned for more details.

At the 2025 Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) Safety & Security Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky, Jeremy Stickling of Nussbaum Transportation received one of the industry’s highest honors: TCA’s Safety Professional of the Year. As Chief Administrative Officer, Stickling has spent years reshaping how safety is approached—not only at Nussbaum but across the trucking world.

This award, presented annually by TCA, recognizes a leader who has made significant, measurable contributions to improving truck driver safety, reducing highway incidents, and promoting a culture of accountability. Stickling’s recognition is the result of nearly two decades of forward-thinking leadership, deep care for people, and a hands-on approach to workplace safety in trucking.

Recognized for a People-First, Innovation-Driven Approach

Brent Nussbaum, CEO of Nussbaum Transportation, described Stickling as a rare kind of leader: “What distinguishes Jeremy as a top safety professional is that he cares about people and is passionate about what he does. He’s an inventor who has a unique ability to view problems, quickly see solutions, and follow them through implementation. Jeremy has built many of the safety programs in existence at Nussbaum today and advocated for the technology and ongoing training that assists in the success of our programs. He’s worked tirelessly to build a culture of safety that protects and builds on the heritage of an eighty-year-old employee-owned business. We’re very proud of Jeremy. He is very worthy of this award.”

Stickling’s commitment to creating a safer work environment has touched every corner of Nussbaum’s operations. His leadership helped the company earn the 2024 TCA Grand Prize for Fleet Safety, a testament to the real-world impact of his safety programs and continuous driver education efforts.

A Road Paved with Experience and Purpose

Jeremy Stickling joined Nussbaum in 2007, beginning in the accounting department before stepping into a larger role that would eventually shape the company’s safety and HR practices. By 2013, he had become HR & Safety Manager—a move that marked the beginning of a new chapter in how Nussbaum approached compliance and fleet safety.

Now serving as Chief Administrative Officer, Stickling oversees HR, safety, and accounting. With nearly 15 years dedicated to transportation safety, his leadership has led to lower CSA scores, stronger driver performance, and a company-wide focus on continuous improvement.

TCA commended Stickling’s far-reaching impact, stating: “His leadership builds a culture of accountability and growth, empowering employees through innovative systems and comprehensive training programs. His broad expertise across safety, HR, and accounting makes him uniquely qualified to lead and enhance all aspects of Nussbaum’s operations.”

Setting the Standard in Fleet Safety

Stickling’s influence goes beyond programs and policies—his work represents a deep-rooted commitment to people. Whether he’s implementing new technology, leading training sessions, or mentoring others, he brings the same energy and dedication every day. His career serves as a powerful example of what’s possible when fleet safety is seen not just as a requirement, but as a core value.

With this recognition from TCA, Jeremy Stickling’s legacy as a safety trailblazer in trucking continues to grow—and so does the standard for what it means to lead with both heart and vision.
