Mack Trucks has announced the vehicles selected for its 2027 Mack Calendar after a fan-driven online contest drew record participation this year.

The winning trucks were chosen from hundreds of submissions, with thousands of fans voting across Mack’s social media channels over several weeks. Mack said the selected trucks span vocations, regions, and generations, representing the breadth of its customer base across the United States and Canada.

Each winning truck will receive its own month in the calendar. Professional photo shoots are planned this summer to capture the vehicles in their normal working environments.

Winners Include Current and Legacy Mack Trucks

The calendar winners include trucks used in long haul, construction, recycling, waste, electric vehicle, and other commercial operations.

To be eligible, every truck submitted had to be in active commercial service, whether it was a current production truck or a legacy model.

One standout from this year’s selections is a 72-year-old Mack L Model that still hauls on a daily basis. The truck anchors the Old Bulldogs Still Hard at Work category.

The Iowa 80 Trucking Museum in Walcott, Iowa, is expanding with a 25,000 square foot addition, bringing total exhibit space to 121,000 square feet. For truck drivers, that means more equipment on display, more history to walk through, and a larger stop that actually gives you something to do when you shut down.

The expansion is underway now and is scheduled to be completed in the fall.

What is being added to the museum

The added space will hold more trucks and memorabilia tied to the history of the industry. The museum already features a large collection, and this expansion allows additional equipment to be put on display instead of kept in storage.

New additions include Sterling trucks from the 1920s through the 1940s, along with a 1948 armored Mack truck restored by the Iowa 80 team.

For drivers who have been through it before, this is not the same quick walk-through. There will be more to see once the expansion is complete.

The museum stays open during construction.

The museum remains open while construction is underway, so drivers can still stop in without waiting for the project to finish.

Through Memorial Day, hours run Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, hours shift to Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is free, which makes it an easy stop without having to plan around cost.

Why this stop still matters for drivers

Most breaks on the road are the same. Fuel, food, then back in the truck.

This place is different. The museum gives drivers a chance to step away and see how the job looked decades ago, from early trucks to restored equipment that helped shape how freight moves today.

It is not about filling time. It is about seeing how the industry got to where it is now.

What changes for drivers passing through Walcott

The expansion does not change how you park or fuel, but it does change what you can do with your time once you are there.

More space means less crowding inside and more equipment on display. That makes it easier to walk through without rushing and actually take it in.

For drivers who run through Iowa regularly, this adds something new to a stop they already know.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum located?
It is located at the Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott, Iowa.

How large will the museum be after the expansion?
It will have 121,000 square feet of exhibit space after the addition is complete.

Is the museum open during construction?
Yes, it remains open while the expansion is being built.

How much does it cost to visit the museum?
Admission is free.

What new trucks will be added?
Sterling trucks from the 1920s through the 1940s, and a restored 1948 armored Mack truck will be part of the expanded display.

The Iowa 80 Trucking Museum has always been a stop drivers recognize. This expansion gives it more depth and makes it worth stepping inside instead of just passing through.

Starting today, the Iowa 80 Truckstop is officially turning into the heart of America’s trucking celebration. The 2025 Walcott Truckers Jamboree kicks off today and runs through Saturday, July 12, offering three packed days of festivities for truckers, families, and fans of the industry.

Held every summer at the “World’s Largest Truckstop,” this event is a tradition for many drivers — a moment to step out of the cab, enjoy live entertainment, and connect with the larger trucking community. Admission, parking, and concerts are all 100% free, and events will go on rain or shine.

A Tradition Built on Community and Celebration

The Jamboree brings together everything drivers love in one spot — from live music and fireworks to cookouts, classic rigs, and contests.

“The Jamboree wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of the Iowa 80 staff, along with all the volunteers who brave the summer heat to make sure it’s a success,” said Delia Moon Meier, senior vice president of the Iowa 80 Group.

Featured highlights include the annual Super Truck Beauty Contest, a showcase of vintage trucks, the fan-favorite Iowa pork chop cookout, and the ever-competitive Trucker Olympics. Two nights of fireworks will light up the Walcott sky — a tradition that’s grown into one of the most anticipated parts of the weekend.

Big Sounds on the Big Stage

Country music fans are in for a treat Friday night. Little Texas takes the main stage at 7:00 PM on July 11.

“You’ll remember Little Texas for their iconic songs ‘God Bless Texas,’ ‘Amy’s Back in Austin’ and ‘You and Forever and Me,’” said Heather DeBaillie, vice president of marketing for the Iowa 80 Group.

The Grammy-nominated group has also received two American Music Award nominations and five ACM nods, taking home Top Vocal Group of the Year in 1993. They also earned Album of the Year at the CMAs in 1994, securing their place in ‘90s country history.

The music lineup also includes several Quad Cities favorites:

The Jimmy Welty Band

Casey Muessigmann

Angela Meyer and the Western Stars

The Dani Lynn Howe Band

If You Go

The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is located at Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284 in Walcott, Iowa. On-site parking is free, and shuttle service from the parking area to the event grounds is being provided courtesy of TBK Financial’s LoadPay.

Concerts are free and open to the public, along with all other scheduled activities. For times and event details, visit truckersjamboree.com.

“So park your truck (or your car), put on your sunscreen, and head outside for another memorable Walcott Truckers Jamboree!” Meier added.

The American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) recently hosted its 2025 National Convention & Truck Show, attracting approximately 5,000 trucking enthusiasts to Madison, Wisconsin, from June 5–7. The event celebrated the history of trucking with awards, scholarships, and captivating demonstrations.

“The Madison show was everything ATHS stands for,” said Peter Wild, the 2025 Convention Chair from Newton, Kansas. “With 870 beautifully preserved trucks and trailers, hands-on demonstrations, and learning sessions, trucking history came alive. Best of all, we swapped stories with friends old and new from around the globe.”

Held at the Alliant Energy Center, the convention offered an all-in-one venue for attendees. “The Alliant Energy Center was the perfect one-stop venue,” said Courtney Cesar, ATHS Convention Manager. “Having show trucks, vendors, learning sessions, and events under one roof — and within walking distance of hotels — made the event seamless for attendees.”

Golden Achievement Awards

A piece of trucking history has found a new home at the Mack Trucks Historical Museum, thanks to the remarkable efforts of Grayce Emmick, an eighth-generation farmer and passionate restoration enthusiast.

Bringing a Classic Back to Life

The 1984 Mack R Model, originally custom-built for Johnny Prescott and Son Oil in Concord, New Hampshire, holds a special place in Mack’s legacy. For Grayce, restoring it was more than just a challenge; it was a personal mission.

“I’ve always preferred older trucks over new, and to me, there is nothing cooler than an old dog that looks new,” said Emmick. “Growing up around Mack trucks made it easy to fall in love with the brand. The first Mack I sat behind the wheel of is a 1985 R Model that has been on our farm since 1992.”

The year-long restoration project showcased a delicate balance of preserving history while incorporating subtle modern updates. The truck still boasts its original steering wheel cap, engraved with “Custom Built for Johnny Prescott Oil Co.,” and vintage Mack bulldog mirror ornaments featuring their distinctive long ears and tails. It’s a stunning example of how tradition can meet innovation.

An Icon in the World of Trucking

Doug Maney, curator of the Mack Trucks Historical Museum, hailed the significance of this restoration effort.

“The Mack R Model series is iconic in trucking history, creating the benchmark for American transportation from 1965 and maintaining it through the mid-2000s,” Maney explained. “The fact that our trucks are not just dependable tools is reinforced by the R model, generating a source of pride for their owners. Grayce’s influence and hands-on effort, preserving original details while thoughtfully modernizing others, helps us tell the story of Mack’s heritage and the evolution of trucking in America.”

Powered by Passion and Community

The restoration was made possible by the enthusiastic support of Mack fans and the trucking community. Jim Rymes of J & H Rymes and Daughters in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, donated the truck used as the base of the project. Gregg Hoffman with Underdog Transport in Bangor, Pennsylvania, volunteered to haul the truck to Grayce’s farm in Kentucky for the restoration.

“Mack fans are loyal, dedicated, and supportive,” said Maney. “The Mack brand roots itself into people just as it has American and world history.”

It didn’t stop there. Grayce’s partner, Gavin Spoor, also contributed to the project by donating a fifth wheel from his own truck, a vehicle that played a pivotal role in their relationship during a memorable 10-hour drive from Texas.

“Mack Trucks has been an integral part of my story, and being able to donate to their legacy is nothing short of empowering to me,” Grayce reflected.

Preserving History for Future Generations

The restored Mack R Model isn’t just a truck; it’s a testament to the fusion of craftsmanship and passion, bridging generational gaps in the trucking industry.

“We’re honored to welcome this historic R Model into our collection,” said Maney. “What makes this donation particularly special is how it bridges generations, combining the craftsmanship of Mack’s past with the passion of a young enthusiast who understands the importance of preserving our trucking heritage. It will serve as an inspiring example to museum visitors of Mack’s enduring quality and the continuing legacy of our favorite brand.”

A Restoration Journey Captured on Video

The restoration process unfolded publicly through a YouTube series, allowing viewers to follow Grayce’s meticulous work step by step. Through triumphs and challenges, the series emphasized the importance of learning by doing, a value Grayce holds close to her heart.

“Through the restoration series and seeing the end result in the museum, I hope visitors and viewers can appreciate the learning process,” she explained. “Nobody wants to learn the hard way, but sometimes that’s necessary to understand your limits, what you need to improve on, and how you can do better.”

A Farm with a Rich History

Grayce’s restoration work is deeply rooted in her personal history. As part of the eighth generation to run Emmick Farms, established in 1813 along the Ohio River in Lewisport, Kentucky, she carries on a legacy that spans more than two centuries. The farm, known for its corn, soybeans, and winter wheat, is steeped in history. Its riverbank was once home to Abraham Lincoln’s ferry business, where Abraham Lincoln won his first court case, forever shaping his political career.

Mack Trucks Historical Museum

The restored 1984 Mack R Model now proudly resides in the Mack Trucks Historical Museum, located within the Mack Experience Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This nonprofit museum celebrates its 40-year history of preserving and showcasing Mack’s invaluable contributions to American industry.

The 15,000-square-foot facility houses an impressive collection of 30 operational vintage vehicles, alongside archives that hold over 40 million pages of documents detailing Mack’s role in pivotal moments, from World War I to iconic infrastructure projects such as the Hoover Dam and the New York City subway system.

Visitors to the museum can now view Grayce’s remarkable restoration effort in person, joining the museum’s lineup of historical artifacts that tell the story of Mack’s dedication to excellence and innovation.

The city of Denton, Texas—home to Peterbilt Motors Company and its assembly plant—was recently abuzz with excitement as it hosted the seventh edition of the Peterbilt Pride & Class Parade. This annual event drew over 50 proud Peterbilt truck owners and operators from around the country, all invited by the renowned truck manufacturer.

This year’s parade not only showcased exceptional Peterbilt models dating from 1964 to 2025 but also supported a noble cause by raising funds for the United Way of Denton County. Over the past two decades, Peterbilt has garnered more than $9.1 million for the local chapter through various initiatives. “United Way of Denton County and its network of nonprofits supported 53,000 people in 2023, thanks largely to Peterbilt’s contributions,” noted Gary Henderson, the organization’s president and CEO, during his speech.

To mark the occasion, Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth declared October 18, 2024, as Peterbilt Pride & Class Day. The event kicked off with the reading of a formal proclamation just as the parade commenced.

Among the participants was Shawn Wright from Arizona, who faced a mechanical setback with his 1968 Peterbilt 358A shortly before the event. The truck’s 262 Cummins engine faltered, threatening his 1,000-mile trip to Denton. Thanks to a generous gesture from Tristan Hatch of Old Iron Truckin’, who provided a Cummins Big Cam 400 engine, Wright and his grandson Kolter embarked on their adventure, albeit “with no A/C, no power steering, no radio.” Yet, they reached their destination successfully. “This is quite a blessing,” Wright expressed, recalling his initial disbelief upon receiving the invitation, deeming it a “joke” due to the parade’s esteemed reputation.

The parade also featured Dylan McCrabb from Williamsburg, Iowa, proudly displaying his 2024 Peterbilt 389X, one of only 1,389 units produced. McCrabb, who leases his truck through Dan O’Brien Trucking, plans to preserve it as a showpiece for now, while his 2022 model continues to serve its hauling duties.

Participants were treated to a “Peterbilt Open House” with an exclusive tour of the assembly plant. Pre- and post-parade, the trucks were exhibited at the plant’s parking area, allowing workers and guests to appreciate the impressive vehicles that once rolled off those very assembly lines.

He was invited to bring his 2024 Peterbilt 389X to the Pride & Class Parade." width="300" height="169" />

Reflecting on his participation, McCrabb remarked, “Getting the invitation meant a lot to me, having grown up idolizing Peterbilt trucks. My grandpa Terry had a fleet of 13 cabover Petes back in the day. Peterbilt is a brand that represents aspiration and excellence.”
