Across trucking, performance is measured in consistency, service, and the ability to deliver under pressure. Each year, major logistics providers take a step back to recognize the carriers that meet those standards at a high level.

Penske Logistics has announced its top-performing supply chain carriers for 2025, highlighting companies that stood out across its network over the past year.

“Congratulations to our 2025 award recipients,” said Tracy Urbanski, Penske Logistics senior vice president of operations, supply chain management. “They have proven to be elite members of our carrier network. Our customers’ freight needs are in great hands with these carriers.”

The awards were presented during a ceremony held at the Team Penske race headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. According to Penske Logistics, carriers were evaluated using an internal enterprise scorecard, supported by feedback from customers, operations teams, and sourcing departments.

How Carriers Were Evaluated

Recognition in programs like this is not based on a single load or short-term results. Instead, it reflects performance across multiple areas that matter to both shippers and drivers, including service reliability, operational execution, and overall consistency.

For drivers and fleets, these kinds of benchmarks often mirror what is expected on the road every day. Deliver on time, communicate clearly, and handle freight without issues. Over time, those habits are what separate top carriers from the rest of the field.

2025 Penske Logistics Carrier Award Winners

The following carriers earned recognition across key transportation categories:

Less Than Truckload U.S. National Carrier: R+L Carriers

Less Than Truckload U.S. Regional Carrier: Pitt-Ohio Transportation Group

Less Than Truckload Canadian Carrier: Speedy Transport

Truckload U.S. National Carrier: Landstar

Truckload U.S. Regional Carrier: Universal Transport II

Truckload Canada: Lion Force, Inc.

Brokerage Provider: Kirsch Transportation Services, Inc.

Flatbed Transporter: Freedom Trans Dedicated

Liquid Bulk Transporter: Andrews Logistics

Mexico Cross-Border Carrier: Select Dedicated Solutions

Intermodal Provider: Cornerstone Systems Inc.

Carrier of the Year: Landstar

Why This Recognition Matters

Recognition like this reflects what carriers are doing over time, not just on one run or in one quarter. It shows which operations are consistently meeting expectations across different customers, routes, and conditions.

It also highlights how performance is measured behind the scenes. Scorecards, customer feedback, and day-to-day execution all factor into which carriers stand out. For anyone working in trucking, that reinforces the value of staying consistent, staying professional, and getting the job done right every time.

C.H. Robinson has once again spotlighted standout performance in the trucking industry, announcing its 2025 Carrier of the Year Award winners. This year, 20 carriers across North America were celebrated for their dependability, service, and strong partnerships with the logistics giant.

For the first time, the awards coincided with National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, a deliberate choice to highlight not only the honored carriers but the dedication of drivers who keep freight moving every day.

In 2024 alone, the winning carriers collectively handled nearly 2 million loads for C.H. Robinson, demonstrating the scale of their contribution to the supply chain. The honorees range from small, single-truck operations to fleets operating thousands of vehicles, showing excellence at every level of the industry.

“These carriers exemplify the best in the industry,” said Michael Castagnetto, president of North American Surface Transportation at C.H. Robinson. “But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I also want to recognize the 360 other COYA nominees and the entirety of our 450,000+ carrier network. They help us and our customers succeed every day. We are proud to honor them for another year of exceptional achievements.”

Celebrations in Minnesota

Representatives from the winning carriers, including drivers, managers, and company leadership, joined in on festivities hosted by C.H. Robinson. Events included a Minnesota Twins game, where winners received customized “Carrier of the Year” jerseys, along with a special visit to the company’s Eden Prairie, Minnesota, headquarters.

Roadrunner is making major moves in the less-than-truckload (LTL) space, rolling out more than 100 new lanes across its Smart Network and naming Kansas City a central hub in the process. These updates mark a significant step forward in Roadrunner’s mission to grow its long-haul, metro-to-metro capabilities.

Alongside this latest expansion, Roadrunner is introducing additional Guaranteed Lanes, bringing its total to over 60 across the U.S. and Canada. In total, these changes add more than 21,000 miles of new shipping routes. Kansas City now sees over 30 inbound lanes from all corners of the country, increasing access for long-haul customers coast to coast.

This latest push follows a previous expansion just this past spring, when nearly 300 new lanes were added. For a company known for its direct long-haul model—often covering routes of 1,400 miles or more—the new routes, which average 315 miles, offer more flexibility for shippers, especially in high-demand regions like the Midwest.

“The addition of new lanes into our Smart Network speaks volumes about the level of service we’re delivering,” said Tomasz Jamroz, Roadrunner’s president and COO. “This expansion moves us closer to our goal of becoming the preeminent long-haul LTL carrier in the country. We’re increasing speed, reliability, and efficiency where our customers need it most.”

The Midwest is experiencing the heaviest growth, with new outbound routes from cities such as Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Columbus, Louisville, Milwaukee, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Minneapolis. Paul area. These lanes feed directly into the newly designated Kansas City hub, which now anchors Roadrunner’s Midwestern service corridor.

Roadrunner’s updated network also strengthens its Northeast coverage. Lanes from New York/New Jersey, Boston, Baltimore, and Philadelphia now connect more efficiently to Cleveland and Kansas City, tightening long-haul links between the East Coast and the country’s industrial center.

Southern expansion includes lanes from key markets like Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, Miami, Orlando, and Houston. These connections directly link to Kansas City and the broader Smart Network, providing faster and more reliable routing for shippers across the southern tier.

The western U.S. isn’t being left behind either. New lanes from San Diego, Phoenix, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, and Portland now tie into Roadrunner’s cross-country routes, adding more options for West Coast customers needing service into the Midwest and beyond.

“Our commitment to a direct-run Smart Network gives shippers more control and reliability—especially as others in the market contract,” said Shari Leon, vice president of Linehaul Operations. “In just the past four months, we’ve added 400 new lanes—including 100+ this month—expanding our service reach and accelerating transit times with fewer handoffs. This scale-up into high-demand cities showcases the power of our over-the-road model and precision linehaul planning.”

The company is also growing its Smart Guarantee Lane offering—its promise of on-time delivery or the shipment is free. Newly added guaranteed routes include:

Houston to Atlanta

Philadelphia to Dallas

Seattle to Dallas

San Francisco to Chicago

Commerce, CA to Atlanta, Cincinnati, Indianapolis

Milwaukee to Dallas, Houston, San Francisco

For shippers seeking dependable long-haul performance with fewer stops and delays, Roadrunner’s latest Smart Network expansion adds capacity in the areas that matter most—especially for routes that connect growing urban centers across the U.S.

Despite today’s market being one of the toughest stretches in recent memory, a new survey shows that a growing number of truck drivers are feeling hopeful about what’s ahead — and much of that optimism is being driven by technology.

According to a recent Truckstop.com survey of more than 500 U.S.-based freight carriers, 60% of drivers say they’re feeling positive about the future of the industry. And it’s not just wishful thinking — drivers are pointing to real improvements thanks to tools that are finally starting to lighten the load.

From AI-powered route planning to better fraud protection, truckers are seeing the upside of newer tech in their daily work. Decision-making is becoming quicker, more accurate, and a lot less stressful. That means less second-guessing on dispatches, fewer headaches from scams, and smoother trip planning overall.

“What we found is that carriers are adopting technology faster than ever, and they’re seeing the results,” said Todd Waldron, vice-president of carrier experience. “From stronger fraud prevention to smarter routing, tools like the ones we’re building are giving carriers more confidence and control over their operations.”

Younger drivers are especially leaning in. Nearly 70% of all respondents — and 79% of those under 35 — say they’re comfortable using the latest tech tools. That includes everything from electronic logging devices (ELDs) and AI-based dispatch tools to advanced telematics and predictive maintenance systems that help catch problems before they sideline a rig.

When asked what’s going to shape the next five years in trucking, three things rose to the top: fuel prices, freight availability, and — you guessed it — technology. AI, in particular, is expected to bring the most impact to route optimization, dispatch efficiency, and maintenance planning.

In a job where every minute and mile count, these tools aren’t just bells and whistles anymore — they’re turning into essentials. And for many drivers, that’s a step in the right direction.
