On June 12, 30 exceptional drivers were inducted into Schneider’s prestigious Haul of Fame. This honor recognizes drivers who achieve either 3 million safe driving miles or maintain 20 consecutive years without an accident.

Schneider’s Safety Legacy

Covering over 9 million freight miles daily, Schneider drivers ensure essential goods are delivered nationwide while maintaining rigorous safety standards. Thanks to their efforts, Schneider has significantly reduced U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)-reportable accidents, achieving a record low accident frequency in 2024.

Recognizing Excellence in Safe Driving

This year, Schneider acknowledged the remarkable contributions of its drivers who prioritize safety on the road:

• 98 drivers received the Consecutive Safe Driving Award for maintaining 10 or more consecutive years without a preventable accident or major lost-time injury.
• 92 drivers earned the Million Mile Award for completing at least 1 million accident-free miles.
• Five drivers reached an extraordinary milestone of 4 million accident-free miles.
• Greg Swift made history as only the third Schneider driver to achieve 5 million safe miles.
• 30 drivers entered the Haul of Fame, a recognition for achieving 3 million safe driving miles or two decades of accident-free driving.

“These achievements represent more than just milestones,” said Schneider President and CEO Mark Rourke. “They highlight the strong commitment of Schneider drivers who continually set the standard for safety in our industry. Deb LaBree: A Pillar in the Trucking Community

With nearly 20 years of experience in the trucking industry, Deb LaBree is more than just a seasoned driver. She plays an active role in the Women in Trucking organization, serving on its board and contributing to the image team. Her unwavering commitment to safety and operational excellence has earned her numerous accolades, solidifying her reputation as a leader in the field.

Roger Mackbach: A Journey of Resilience and Advocacy

Roger Mackbach’s story is one of extraordinary resilience. After a life-altering accident in 2008 that resulted in the loss of his right arm, Mackbach re-entered the trucking profession with a custom prosthetic, becoming one of Maine’s first drivers to achieve interstate travel eligibility post-amputation. Beyond his achievements on the road, Mackbach is a passionate advocate for amputees, helping others obtain their Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs) and adjust to life after injury.

The Haul of Fame Selection Process

This year’s Haul of Fame contest was highly competitive, with over 160 nominees and thousands of votes cast to select five outstanding finalists. The winners were chosen by an esteemed panel of judges, including:

• Jeff Gordon: Four-time NASCAR Series Cup champion and vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports
• Timothy Dooner: Renowned podcaster and host of FreightWaves’ “WHAT THE TRUCK?!?”
• Clarissa Rankin: Influential driver, school owner, and TikTok star with 1.8 million followers advocating for women in trucking
• Ryan Droege: CEO and co-founder of Relay Payments

Awards and Recognition

To celebrate their remarkable achievements, LaBree and Mackbach will receive a series of rewards, including an all-expenses-paid trip to Atlanta for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race from September 6-8, coinciding with National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Kirk Phillips

A seasoned driver at Johnsonville Trucking for 43 years, Kirk Phillips boasts a remarkable record of over 3.1 million safe miles. A fixture in the Wisconsin Motor Carriers President’s Safe Driver’s Club for 25 years, Phillips is known for his mentorship and safety advocacy. He drives the renowned ‘Big Taste Grill’ truck, which provides food and supplies during disaster relief efforts.

Roger Machback

After 24 years on the road, Roger Machback turned a personal tragedy into inspiration, overcoming the loss of his right arm in a boating accident in 2008. He not only crafted a custom prosthetic arm but also became one of the first individuals in Maine to qualify for interstate travel following an amputation. Machback now advocates for other amputees, helping them regain their CDLs and adapt to life post-amputation.

Fidel Herrera

With a career spanning over 20 years, Fidel Herrera began at a local supermarket before obtaining his CDL. He is recognized for his dedication to safety and the mentorship he provides to fellow drivers. Herrera thoroughly enjoys the freedom of the road and providing excellent service as a respected owner-operator and an advocate for the trucking community.

Deb Labree

Deb Labree, with her 18 years of experience, plays a pivotal role in the Women in Trucking organization, serving on its board and Image Team. She demonstrates that trucking is not just a ‘man’s job’ and is a role model for aspiring female drivers. Labree’s commitment to safety and efficiency makes her a beacon of inspiration for all within the industry.

A distinguished celebrity judging panel will evaluate these five outstanding drivers, ultimately selecting two winners for the 2024 Haul of Fame. This year’s judges include:

• Jeff Gordon: A legendary NASCAR driver, four-time NASCAR Series Cup champion, and vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports.

• Timothy Dooner: An award-winning podcaster known for hosting FreightWaves’ WHAT THE TRUCK?!?

• Clarissa Rankin: A leading female truck driver, CDL school owner, and TikTok influencer with over 1.8 million followers advocating for women in trucking.

• Ryan Droege: CEO and co-founder of Relay Payments.

The winners will enjoy several exciting prizes, including a trip to the Quaker State 400 race weekend in Atlanta from Sept. 6-8, coinciding with National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
