Kenworth has reintroduced its TourAmerica paint scheme as a limited edition option for select 2026 truck models, available on sleeper configurations of the T680, W900L, W990, and T880. The updated design keeps the original 1990s look but adapts it for modern equipment and is part of the Freedom 250 initiative tied to the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026.

For fleets and owner-operators, this release provides a way to run a recognizable heritage design on current production trucks without changing performance, specifications, or applications.

What is the Kenworth TourAmerica paint scheme?

The TourAmerica paint scheme is a Kenworth truck design first introduced on the T600 in the 1990s, known for its patriotic styling. The 2026 version retains that recognizable look while updating materials and finishes to match current production standards.

For experienced drivers, it brings back a familiar design. For newer operators, it offers a distinct alternative to standard factory paint options.

The key takeaway is that this is a visual update only and does not affect truck capability or performance.

Which trucks offer the TourAmerica paint scheme in 2026?

The updated TourAmerica paint scheme is available on sleeper configurations of the following Kenworth models:

T680

W900L

W990

T880

These models are used across long-haul, vocational, and specialized operations.

Limiting the option to sleeper configurations focuses the design on high-visibility equipment typically used for longer routes.

The key takeaway is that operators can adopt this design without changing equipment specs or job function.

Why did Kenworth bring the TourAmerica design back?

Kenworth reintroduced the TourAmerica paint scheme as part of its Freedom 250 initiative, which highlights trucking’s role in supporting the United States ahead of its 250th anniversary in 2026.

This connects a recognizable design from the 1990s with a current national milestone.

The key takeaway is that the release is focused on industry recognition and historical visibility rather than product changes.

What is the Freedom 250 initiative?

The Freedom 250 initiative is a nationwide campaign connected to the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026. It highlights American history while recognizing industries, including trucking, that support the movement of goods and communities.

As part of the initiative, Kenworth donated a T680 with a 76-inch sleeper to support related programs.

The key takeaway is that this campaign connects trucking to national outreach and historical recognition.

What are Freedom Trucks?

Freedom Trucks are trucks used as part of the Freedom 250 program to haul mobile museum exhibits across the country throughout 2026.

These mobile museums are traveling exhibits designed to deliver interactive educational experiences to communities nationwide.

The key takeaway is that these trucks support outreach and education while still reflecting the core role of trucking in moving loads across distances.

How will the TourAmerica trucks be used in 2026?

At least one truck tied to the initiative will operate within the Freedom Trucks program, hauling mobile museums across the country.

While this differs from standard freight operations, the function remains consistent with trucking’s role in moving goods between locations.

The key takeaway is that the trucks demonstrate a nontraditional but relevant application of commercial vehicles.

What does this mean for fleets and owner operators?

For fleets and owner operators, the return of the TourAmerica paint scheme is a visual and branding option rather than an operational change.

No impact on performance or specifications

Available on current production sleeper models

Limited edition factory option

This allows operators to differentiate equipment visually without affecting maintenance, compliance, or workload.

The key takeaway is that this is a low-risk way to stand out without operational tradeoffs.

How does the updated design balance tradition and modern trucking?

The updated TourAmerica paint scheme combines a legacy design with modern truck platforms currently in production.

It preserves the original visual identity while aligning with current materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes.

This makes it relevant to both experienced drivers familiar with the original and newer operators entering the industry.

The key takeaway is that the design bridges the past and present without compromising current equipment standards.

Every year, one of the most unique loads in trucking hits the road. It’s not freight in the traditional sense, but it draws just as much attention across the country. In 2026, that honor belongs to a tree coming out of Idaho’s Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests.

The tree will make its way to Washington, D.C., where it will stand in front of the U.S. Capitol as the official Capitol Christmas Tree. For drivers and fleets, the haul itself is what makes this tradition stand out.

A Load That Brings the Industry Into the Spotlight

The Capitol Christmas Tree isn’t just about the destination. The cross-country trip has become a yearly highlight for the trucking industry, putting a spotlight on the role drivers play in connecting communities.

Each year, a single carrier is selected to handle the move, with a specially wrapped truck leading the way. The Truckload Carriers Association has long supported the effort, and Kenworth provides the custom truck used to haul the tree across the country.

Along the route, the truck makes multiple stops, giving communities a chance to see the tree up close before it reaches the Capitol.

Idaho Takes Center Stage in 2026

This year marks the first time the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests will supply the Capitol Christmas Tree. The forest spans more than 4 million acres, covering rugged terrain that includes mountains, rivers, and deep canyons.

“Idaho couldn’t be prouder to see one of our own trees chosen as the Nation’s Capitol Christmas Tree,” said Idaho Governor Brad Little. “This is a great honor and a reminder of the natural beauty we’re blessed with here at home. We’re excited to share some Idaho spirit with families across the country next Christmas season.”

The selection kicks off a full year of events tied to the tree, highlighting local communities, forestry partners, and the history of the region.

A Nationwide Effort Behind the Scenes

Moving a load like this takes coordination well beyond the driver’s seat. Multiple partners are involved, including the Society of American Foresters, which continues to support the program as a national partner.

“2026 marks the celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary. SAF is proud to continue our support of The People’s Tree as it makes its way across the country,” said SAF CEO Terry Baker. “This public/private partnership exemplifies what we can accomplish when we come together from varied backgrounds and interests with a common goal.”

The U.S. Forest Service has worked alongside the Architect of the Capitol for more than five decades to make this annual delivery happen. Each year, a tree is selected from one of the country’s national forests and transported to Washington following a multi-stop tour.

More Than Just a Delivery

For those in trucking, this run represents something different from the usual day-to-day freight. It’s a chance to be part of a tradition that reaches beyond the industry and into communities nationwide.

Jon Word, forest supervisor for the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, emphasized the significance of the moment.

“It is a great honor to provide the 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, the ‘People’s Tree’, from the Nez Perce-Clearwater. We look forward to working closely with the Nez Perce Tribe, the Society of American Foresters, and all our partners and communities.”

As the year moves forward, more details will come out about the tree selection and the route it will take. For drivers and fleets, it’s one of those rare hauls that reminds everyone just how visible and important trucking can be.

Truck drivers know that life on the road isn’t easy, and Pilot has once again recognized the dedication, skill, and heart of professional drivers with its annual Road Warrior contest. This year, Stacy Batiste of Lafayette, Louisiana, takes the top honor as the 2025 champion.

Honoring the Drivers Who Go the Extra Mile

After sifting through thousands of entries, Pilot selected two standout drivers who embody professionalism, safety, and service. In addition to Batiste, Bobby Peeker, a Marine Corps veteran, also earned recognition for his exceptional contributions to the trucking and veteran communities. Peeker will receive a $10,000 cash prize, along with a $25,000 charitable donation made by Pilot to a veterans-focused organization of his choice.

“We received thousands of entries celebrating the efforts of drivers who go the extra mile each and every day,” said Jordan Spradling, senior vice president of transportation and midstream assets at Pilot Company. “Stacy’s and Bobby’s hard work, dedication to the profession, commitment to safety and service stood out. We are honored to welcome them to the Road Warrior winner’s circle. They both are prime examples of the positive impact professional drivers have on and off the road.”

Pilot’s Road Warrior contest is its way of recognizing the drivers who keep North America moving, day in and day out.

Stacy Batiste: 33 Years of Dedication

Batiste was awarded the largest prize in contest history: a custom Kenworth truck built by the Diesel Brothers and a $50,000 cash prize. With over 33 years behind the wheel and more than 5.1 million accident-free miles, Batiste views trucking not just as a career, but as a calling.

A Marine Corps veteran, he has consistently prioritized road safety and has earned a reputation as a mentor for younger drivers. Beyond trucking, Batiste is an active member of his local community, always finding ways to give back.

On October 21, Pilot surprised Batiste while he was on the road at a Flying J in Baytown, Texas, presenting the keys to his custom Kenworth and the $50,000 check. His family joined the celebration, hidden in the travel center to share the moment. Batiste began his driving career hauling sugar cane in South Louisiana, and now, as an owner-operator, the new truck supports his ongoing passion for safe, community-focused driving.

Bobby Peeker: Veteran and Community Advocate

Peeker has logged more than 1 million accident-free miles and continues to give back to the military community after his service in the Marine Corps. He regularly volunteers his time and resources to help fellow servicemen and women and participates in truck shows supporting the Special Olympics.

His passion for trucking was shaped early on by his family, and particularly by his grandfather, who helped remove rubble after the 9/11 attacks using his truck.

Celebrating Trucking Excellence

For over a decade, Pilot has honored professional drivers through the Road Warrior contest, highlighting more than 30 drivers whose dedication and safety-first approach set the standard for the industry.

The spotlight was on more than just engines when Kenworth brought its W900 Legacy Edition to the Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant during “Bring Your Kids to Work Days.” The event provided employees and their families with the opportunity to explore the plant, learn about engine production, and get an up-close look at Kenworth’s latest special edition model before it goes into production.

“This event is a celebration of the incredible people at Cummins whose craftsmanship and commitment bring our trucks to life,” said Kyle Kimball, Kenworth’s director of marketing. “We were honored to bring the W900 Legacy Edition to Jamestown to recognize the team that helps power these iconic trucks that are beloved by generations of drivers.”

While the W900 Legacy Edition represents Kenworth’s lasting impact on the trucking industry, another type of legacy was just as clear as the dedication and pride of the employees whose work keeps that legacy alive.

A Special Build for an Iconic Model

Cummins partnered with Kenworth to produce X15 engines painted in the classic Cummins beige, exclusively for the W900 Legacy Edition. This will be the final special edition of the W900, making it a significant milestone for both brands.

“The classic engine color is just one special vintage touch on each Legacy Edition,” Kenworth said. “To complement the engine, a curated selection of iconic paint schemes – including the classic VIT ’63 paint scheme featured at the Cummins Jamestown event – is available with the W900 Legacy. Kenworth is producing just 1,000 of these models, which are available in Extended Day Cab, 72-inch Flat Top, and 86-inch Studio Sleeper configurations.”

Details That Honor the Past

Each W900 Legacy Edition will be individually serialized, counting down from 1,000 to 0001, with a special limited-edition badge mounted on the glovebox. Inside, the truck features a black Diamond VIT interior with platinum accents, Ravenwood door and dash trims, and platinum accent stitching. Vintage Kenworth logos appear on the trim and headrests, while hood badges use a design that became popular in 1966.

Shawn Hricko, plant manager at the Jamestown Engine Plant, also got behind the wheel during the event, adding his own memory to the day’s legacy.

The 2025 Walcott Truckers Jamboree roared back to life with over 46,000 trucking fans gathering at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop despite some weather delays. This iconic three-day event celebrated the best of trucking culture, showcasing a stunning blend of community spirit, craftsmanship, and gleaming rigs.

One of the event’s biggest highlights was the Super Trucks Beauty Contest, which brought together working trucks and custom builds from all over North America.
Top Honors Capture Tribute and Excellence

The contest’s top awards went to two standout trucks with powerful stories behind them.

Dylan Mercier from St. Anne, Illinois, earned the Best Overall Theme for his tribute rig, a 2005 Mack matched with a 2022 Wilson hopper bottom trailer called “Our Fallen Heroes.”

Kenworth revealed a cutting-edge performance hood for the T880S set-forward front axle configuration during NTEA Work Truck Week 2025 in Indianapolis. This advanced hood design boosts the T880S lineup by accommodating higher-horsepower engines and addressing the needs of intense applications like heavy-haul and logging.

Source: Kenworth

Built for Power and Performance

The new T880S Performance Hood boasts increased length and a larger cooling package than both the standard T880S and T880 hood, making it compatible with Cummins’ X15 engine, offering up to 605 hp and 2,050 lb.-ft. of torque. This enhancement, tailored for high-GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) environments, allows the T880S to take on more challenging tasks.

While the T880S comes standard with Paccar’s MX-13 engine, the performance hood unlocks new possibilities for customers needing exceptional performance. To maintain engine efficiency in demanding conditions, the cooling module size expands to 1,440 square inches, and airflow has been precisely tailored for superior cooling efficiency.

The updated hood configuration measures 121.7 inches bumper-to-back-of-cab (BBC) and features a 31.5-inch bumper setting with the standard bumper. This design improves weight distribution and ensures compliance with bridge formula regulations while providing a 16-inch axle spread increase compared to the T880 with a set-back front axle.

Expanding Powertrain Versatility for Customers

The four available hood configurations in the T880 series now include the T880, T880 MX-Optimized Hood, T880S MX-Optimized Hood, and the powerful T880S Performance Hood. Kenworth’s inclusion of the Performance Hood provides more options for clients needing high-power engines.

“For our customers that require maximum truck power for their operation or those seeking more powertrain options for the T880S, this hood allows for more customers to utilize the T880S in new ways,” said Kyle Kimball, Kenworth director of marketing.

He added, “The T880S is the favored configuration for customers in ready-mix, dump, and other applications where staying compliant with bridge-formula laws is a concern. By allowing more powertrain options for the T880S Performance Hood, customers with the highest power or payload demands can take advantage while still maintaining excellent visibility with the sloped hood design.”

Durable and Innovative Design Features

The new T880S hood combines durability with signature Kenworth style. Made with Metton material, this hood ensures resilience in tough vocational applications. For added practicality, its 5-piece construction allows for more affordable and efficient repairs in conjunction with other T880 models.

Key design elements include polished or black aluminum mesh grille options, a sleek stainless steel grille surround, stainless steel fender closeout panels, and chrome or black air intake spears. These design touches blend rugged aesthetics with functional performance, creating a bold presence while maximizing utility.

Kenworth’s latest performance hood continues to cement the T880S model as the go-to truck for power, performance, and reliability in demanding industries like heavy-haul, logging, and construction. This enhancement ensures Kenworth remains at the forefront of delivering solutions tailored for high-performance trucking needs.

PacLease has made significant strides in its franchise expansion, setting a new record by establishing 28 new locations across the United States and Canada in 2024. This milestone marks a testament to the company’s aggressive growth strategy and commitment to providing top-tier leasing solutions.

Meeting Customer Needs with Quality and Reliability

“Fleets appreciate the reliability and high quality of Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks,” shared Ken Roemer, president of PACCAR Leasing. “Combined with stringent preventive maintenance programs and customized fleet solutions, leasing through PacLease is helping our customers fulfill their business goals.”

The continuous growth highlights PacLease’s ability to respond to customer needs through its premium vehicle offerings, dedicated maintenance programs, and tailored leasing solutions.

Where to Find the New PacLease Locations

The company has expanded its services significantly in both the U.S. and Canada. Here is a breakdown of the new locations:

United States:

Dobbs Leasing: North Little Rock, AR; Pearl, MS; Bossier City, LA.

Truckworx PacLease: DeFuniak Springs, FL; Gulfport, MS.

Jackson Group PacLease: Roseburg, OR.

All Roads Rental and Leasing: Fort Lauderdale, FL; Riviera Beach, FL.

This extensive expansion ensures PacLease now offers its customers even broader coverage with unmatched support across North America.

Introducing Innovation for Franchise Management

A standout moment for PacLease this year was the introduction of its streamlined Franchise Portal. This innovative online hub seamlessly integrates lease and rental management resources into one centralized platform.

“This enhances fleet management,” explained Roemer. “Franchises can access their fleet prognostic information through the portal to predict and prevent component failures, enabling them to proactively manage the fleet — all of which pays dividends to our customers.”

With tools designed to facilitate operational efficiency, this portal ensures franchisees have the resources to meet growing customer demands effectively.

Looking Toward 2025 and Beyond

With plans for continued expansion and technological enhancements, the future looks bright for PacLease. Roemer expressed optimism regarding the year ahead, stating, “The PacLease network is stronger than ever, offering the broadest network coverage in our history.”

He added, “As we near our 45th year in business, PacLease will continue to grow and expand with the locations, technology, and experience to exceed customers’ expectations.”

J&R Schugel marked a half-century of success by honoring Disabled American Veterans (DAV) with a special tribute. The company held a memorable event at the Kenworth manufacturing plant in Chillicothe, Ohio, to commemorate their 50th anniversary, during which they received a new Kenworth T680 truck.

The event saw participation from representatives of Kenworth, a division of CSM Companies, and J&R Schugel. To further acknowledge the service of military veterans, J&R Schugel adorned their new T680 with a unique wrap dedicated to DAV.

Courtney Antonsen, J&R Schugel’s human resources director, expressed: “It’s a privilege to collaborate with Disabled American Veterans in honoring those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. Our uniquely wrapped Kenworth T680 truck will proudly journey across the country, symbolizing our appreciation and dedication to supporting veterans and their families. We also extend our gratitude to CSM Companies for their generous $25,000 donation, which will directly fund vital services for veterans.”

The Wisconsin Kenworth dealer presented an additional $25,000 check to DAV on behalf of J&R Schugel, reinforcing the company’s commitment to community and support for veterans.

Established in 1974 by founding members Jerry, Rich, and Harold Schugel, J&R Schugel has always operated with a customer, employee, and community-first philosophy. The company is known for wrapping their Kenworth trucks with themes to promote awareness for various causes, from supporting veterans to raising awareness about health issues like breast cancer, mental health, and autism.

Kevin Haygood, Kenworth’s assistant general manager for sales and marketing, praised J&R Schugel saying, “J&R Schugel has been a great customer for years, and we’re proud of all their efforts to partner with charity organizations and bring awareness to important causes throughout the country and in their local community.”

J&R Schugel runs over 700 trucks, the majority being the latest Kenworth T680 models with modern features designed for driver comfort. “All of our trucks are currently 2021 models or newer,” Antonsen noted. “The new interior features and technology, such as the digital display and sharper exterior design of the truck, are what stand out to our drivers. They spend most of their day in their trucks, and we believe providing them with new, premium equipment helps with overall job satisfaction.”

The company stays up-to-date with a three-year truck trade-in cycle, ensuring their equipment is top-notch and minimizes downtime for drivers. The latest Kenworth T680 model, introduced in 2021, continues to be a popular choice within their fleet.
