The company recently received the American Logistics Aid Network’s (ALAN) 2025 Humanitarian Logistics Award for Employee Engagement, marking its second time earning one of the logistics industry’s top honors for community service.

The recognition came through Fleet Advantage’s Kids Around The Corner Foundation (KATC), a program that encourages employees to roll up their sleeves, get involved in their communities, and direct company donations to causes that make a real difference.

“We are incredibly honored that the American Logistics Aid Network has recognized our employees’ passion and commitment through the Kids Around The Corner Foundation,” said Elizabeth Gomez, director of marketing and community outreach, FA. “Our team consistently demonstrates that community service and humanitarian relief are integral to our company culture. This award reflects their compassion and proves that meaningful engagement can make a lasting difference.”

A second win for a company focused on giving back.

This is the second time Fleet Advantage has earned an ALAN Humanitarian Logistics Award. The first came back in 2022, when the KATC Foundation received recognition for Outstanding Contribution to Disaster Relief Efforts.

Since 2017, the ALAN Humanitarian Logistics Awards have honored companies and individuals who step up when disasters strike, using logistics and supply chain expertise to get help where it’s needed most. Fleet Advantage and its KATC Foundation were celebrated during ALAN’s 20th anniversary event for their continued commitment to supporting people in crisis.

How Fleet Advantage and KATC made a difference

In 2024, KATC celebrated its 10th anniversary with a record-breaking year of giving.

“In 2024, KATC marked its 10th anniversary and delivered a record-setting year of engagement, supporting 51 nonprofit organizations with $380,425 in donations, including 16 new partnerships, while also engaging employees and partners in eight in-person volunteer events,” FA said. “Fleet Advantage employees and their families actively participated in these initiatives, directly impacting the communities where they live and work.”

That hands-on support came in many forms, including:

Partnering with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to deliver emergency aid after Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Serving over 2,000 meals and hygiene kits to people experiencing homelessness during Good Friday and Thanksgiving events with The Caring Place.
Donating more than 100 Easter baskets to children in underserved neighborhoods.
Hosting its largest-ever backpack drive, collecting and distributing 200 backpacks filled with school supplies in partnership with Henderson Behavioral Health.
Continuing work with Junior Achievement of South Florida to expand financial literacy education for students in need.

Altogether, Fleet Advantage’s efforts have added up to over $1 million in charitable giving since the foundation’s start in 2014.

A culture of compassion on and off the road

For a company that’s deeply tied to the trucking and logistics world, Fleet Advantage’s story shows that moving freight isn’t the only way to keep things rolling; sometimes it’s about moving people to act.

By blending community service, employee involvement.

Each year, truck drivers across the country play a key role in helping Wreaths Across America deliver millions of wreaths to cemeteries nationwide. For 2025, the organization is once again reaching out to carriers and owner-operators to join the effort, with more than 20 lanes still open for transport partners.

Since 2007, Wreaths Across America has worked year-round under its mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach, a message that resonates deeply throughout the trucking community. What started back in 1992 as a small act of gratitude at Arlington National Cemetery has grown into a national movement that now reaches over 5,400 locations across the U.S. and abroad.

National Wreaths Across America Day will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025. More than 4 million volunteers are expected to take part in ceremonies that honor fallen veterans through wreath-laying events in all 50 states, at sea, and overseas. Truck drivers are the ones who make these ceremonies possible, hauling over 700 truckloads of live balsam wreaths every season.

“This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025. More than 4 million volunteers and supporters will gather to Remember, Honor and Teach through wreath-laying ceremonies in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad.”

For many fleets, joining the Honor Fleet isn’t just a way to give back; it’s a way to connect their work with something meaningful. Trucking companies that take part gain nationwide recognition through media coverage, community partnerships, and volunteer involvement.

Beyond the good it does, participation also helps boost driver pride and retention. Carriers who’ve partnered in the past often note how the experience brings teams closer together. Taking part in the wreath deliveries or local ceremonies gives drivers a chance to represent their company while honoring those who served.

As Wreaths Across America puts it, the effort only works because truck drivers show up with that dependable “can-do” spirit the industry is known for. Fleets that join the Honor Fleet not only support a national mission but also stand shoulder to shoulder with others who share the same respect for service and sacrifice.

For 2025, Wreaths Across America is inviting more carriers to get involved and help cover remaining routes across the country. Those interested can find open lanes and details about how to sign up by visiting learn.wreathsacrossamerica.org/2025-open-lanes-available.

The goal was to show young girls that careers in transportation, energy and sustainability are absolutely open to them.

“Suburban Propane is proud to partner with the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey to inspire the next generation of innovators, leaders, and changemakers,” said Fran Cleffi, vice president of human resources for Suburban Propane. “Through Trucks are for Girls: Fueling the Future, we hope to empower young girls to see themselves in industries that are driving America’s energy transformation and to help them build the confidence to pursue any career they choose.”

The event took place at Suburban Propane’s national headquarters in Whippany, New Jersey. Girl Scouts from across the region showed up for hands on learning and leadership activities. They broke into sessions on science, entrepreneurship and innovation to learn how clean energy powers communities and how their own creativity can shape the future workforce.

They got a behind the scenes look at Suburban Propane’s operations, climbed into a propane delivery truck and tried out a driving simulator inside the Women In Trucking Association’s WITney trailer. They also sat in on career chats with women working in areas such as technology, accounting, marketing and legal. In one activity the girls worked together to build cause driven cookie campaigns that mixed business skills with community impact. Each participant went home with a Suburban Propane Patch and a WIT Transportation Patch as a keepsake.

“We are grateful for our partnership with Suburban Propane and for their support in putting together and hosting the Trucks are for Girls event,” said Sandra A. Kenoff, president and CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “This collaboration gives our Girl Scouts the unique opportunity to explore career paths they may have never considered, connect with mentors who are paving the way in “nontraditional” fields, and see firsthand the many ways women are leading in transportation and logistics. We thank Suburban Propane for their support and for creating such an inspiring experience.”

While the girls explored the industry, parents and guardians joined a professional development workshop called Gear Up for Success Your Resume and Your Brand. The session was led by Suburban Propane’s human resources team.

This effort ties into SuburbanCares, the company’s nationwide outreach program that supports youth empowerment, education and community involvement across the 42 states where it operates.

Wreaths Across America (WAA) has recently celebrated 17 of its transportation partners, honoring them as members of the prestigious “Honor Fleet” for their remarkable commitment of 10 or more years of service.

The Honor Fleet is crucial in transporting millions of veterans’ wreaths nationwide every year. These wreaths are delivered to over 4,900 locations, including the revered Arlington National Cemetery. In 2024 alone, an impressive 739 loads of wreaths were transported by 397 trucking companies, exemplifying the scale and impact of their contribution.

Trucking Partners Driving a Noble Mission

Ryder System Inc., a prominent name in transportation and logistics, has been recognized as one of Fortune magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” for 2025.

“There’s a reason we consistently earn top marks on Fortune’s corporate reputation report card for attributes like workforce development, innovation, and product excellence,” stated Robert Sanchez, chairman and CEO of Ryder. “For 13 years, this recognition is a testament to Ryder’s unwavering commitment to our employees, the value of investing in cutting-edge solutions, and the trust our customers place in us to keep their supply chains moving.”

13 Years of Consistent Recognition

Ryder’s inclusion on the prestigious Fortune list for the 13th year in a row highlights the company’s continuous dedication to excellence in the logistics, trucking, and transportation sectors.

Fortune develops this annual ranking based on input from industry leaders, including executives, board members, and analysts across more than 50 industries globally. Companies are scored on nine essential attributes, such as innovation, product or service quality, ability to attract talent, social responsibility, investment value, and workforce management. Achieving a spot on this list requires companies to rank in the upper half of their industry category—a benchmark Ryder continues to surpass.

Recognized Pioneer and Employer of Distinction

This latest achievement adds to a growing list of recognitions for Ryder. The company was noted by Newsweek as one of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity” in both 2025 and 2024. Furthermore, it earned the title of one of “America’s Greatest Workplaces” in 2024 and was celebrated as one of “America’s Most Trustworthy Companies” in 2023.

These accolades demonstrate Ryder’s pioneering approach and its strong, people-focused culture, further cementing its role as a leader in the logistics and transportation industries.

Valentine’s Day often brings to mind roses, chocolates, and thoughtful keepsakes. But behind every romantic gesture is a network of dedicated truck drivers working tirelessly to ensure these tokens of love reach their destinations on time. Without them, the day wouldn’t sparkle quite as much. Let’s explore how these drivers make Valentine’s Day magic happen, the obstacles they overcome, and why their work is vital to this holiday.

The Journey of Valentine’s Day Flowers

Roses may symbolize love, but their path to your hands is a logistical masterpiece. Did you know that almost 80% of flowers sold in the U.S. are imported? Countries such as Colombia and Ecuador produce these blooms, which first land at Miami International Airport—the primary hub for floral imports. From there, it’s up to truckers to deliver them across the nation.

According to data from DAT Freight & Analytics, a staggering 500 truckloads of flowers depart Miami daily in the seven weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day. This immense task is handled by a combination of major trucking companies and independent drivers, who work hard to meet the high demand. These truckers are the reason thousands of bouquets are ready in-store just in time for February 14th.

Overcoming the Challenges of Flower Freight

Transporting fresh-cut flowers isn’t like moving your standard shipment. The process involves extra care, precision, and often a lot of manual labor. Some of the main challenges truck drivers face when delivering Valentine’s Day flowers include the following:

Perfectly Controlled Temperatures: Flowers must be transported using refrigerated trailers to maintain their freshness. A small fluctuation in temperature could ruin an entire shipment of delicate blossoms.

Non-Negotiable Deadlines: Since flowers have a very short shelf life, delays simply aren’t an option. Drivers operate on incredibly tight schedules to ensure they arrive fresh and beautiful.

Demanding Unloading Conditions: While conventional freight may involve forklifts or pallet systems, flowers are almost always hand-unloaded. Imagine a single trucker unloading thousands of boxes—one driver logged more than 2,500 boxes over four stops. It’s exhausting, labor-intensive work, but it’s all part of the job for these hardworking pros.

It’s Not Just About Flowers: Flowers might be the star of the Valentine’s Day show, but they’re far from the only deliveries truckers handle for the holiday. Their efforts encompass a wide variety of festive essentials, from sweet treats to sparkling surprises.

Chocolate & Candy: Every year, Americans spend over $2 billion on Valentine’s Day candy (yes, billion!). Major confectionery brands depend on truckers to transport vast quantities of chocolates and other treats to satisfy the country’s sweet tooth.

Greeting Cards: Approximately 145 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually. Truck drivers are essential to getting those heartfelt messages—whether funny, romantic, or cheesy—to every store shelf and mailbox across the nation.

Jewelry & Gifts: From engagement rings to teddy bears, Valentine’s Day gifts are another major responsibility for these drivers. Ensuring these valuable items arrive on time and in perfect condition is no easy task, but truckers make it look effortless.

Drivers Deliver More Than Shipments—They Deliver Love

While most people mark Valentine’s Day with romantic dinners and heartfelt moments, many truckers spend the day on the road instead of with their loved ones. Their dedication ensures everyone else can enjoy the holiday’s little luxuries.

The next time you unwrap a box of chocolates, admire a bouquet of roses, or open a sentimental card, take a moment to appreciate the skilled, hardworking truck drivers who made it possible. They’re the real MVPs who keep Valentine’s Day running smoothly—and for that, we owe them a big “thank you.”

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., a leading figure in supply chain solutions, is celebrating a significant achievement as its intermodal service reaches 35 years of operations. Over these decades, the company has revolutionized freight transport with its innovative and efficient solutions.

The Beginning of an Industry Game-Changer

It all started on a cold February morning in 1990 when J.B. Hunt’s first intermodal load departed Chicago, marking the debut of a trailblazing partnership between trucking and rail companies. This collaboration was the brainchild of J.B. Hunt founder Johnnie Bryan Hunt and Santa Fe Railway President Mike Haverty (now BNSF Railway). Aptly named “Quantum,” the service embodied a forward-thinking approach that promised a lasting impact on the freight transportation industry.

“Intermodal started as an idea to bring two services together and create a customer-focused, efficient solution,” said Shelley Simpson, president and CEO of J.B. Hunt. “This dream was brought to life by teams working closely together, never losing faith in the belief of a better way to move freight, one rooted in integrity, respect, safety, and excellence. It changed freight transportation forever and set the company on a path of continued innovation, sparking 35 years of growth and expansion.”

From Humble Beginnings to Market Leadership

The service that began with just 150 trailers has grown into North America’s largest intermodal operation. Today, J.B. Hunt Intermodal (JBI) boasts a fleet of over 122,000 company-owned containers and 6,500 tractors. The groundbreaking concept of double-stacking containers proved pivotal, enhancing efficiency while significantly cutting load and unload times—a benefit that attracted a steady stream of customers over the years.

By the early 2000s, intermodal service had evolved to become a distinct business unit within J.B. Hunt. This strategic shift allowed the company to dedicate its focus to enhancing service quality and operational performance. By 2003, JBI had become J.B. Hunt’s largest revenue generator—a title it still holds today.

The milestones kept coming. JBI moved more than one million loads in a single calendar year for the first time in 2010, and by 2018, that number had climbed to an impressive two million loads annually. Fast forward to 2024, and the company shattered records yet again, setting new benchmarks for quarterly, monthly, and weekly intermodal volumes.

Partnerships That Drive Progress

Over its 35-year history, J.B. Hunt has built enduring relationships with all major rail providers across North America. These partnerships have been essential to refining operational efficiency and introducing innovative features. Notably, the company established onsite terminals and express gates to streamline service for its customers.

Expanding to meet international freight demands, J.B. Hunt opened its first transload facility in 2021. These have since grown to serve key ocean ports and the largest land entry point into the U.S. Additionally, a significant collaboration in 2023 saw J.B. Hunt team up with BNSF Railway and GMXT to launch a Mexico service via Eagle Pass, Texas. That same year, the company reintroduced its iconic Quantum service to serve the evolving needs of highway freight clients.

Sustainability at the Core

J.B. Hunt Intermodal is leading the shift from over-the-road freight transport to rail, which offers a far more sustainable alternative. Rail transport reduces a shipment’s carbon footprint by an average of 65% compared to traditional highway trucking. Over the last decade, JBI’s efforts have prevented the emission of approximately 30 million metric tons of CO2e. This environmentally-conscious approach forms a key part of the company’s commitment to sustainable growth.
