In exciting news for truck drivers, two new developments aim to enhance parking options for truckers in Oklahoma and Maryland.

Oklahoma Welcomes New TA Express

TravelCenters of America has opened a new TA Express in Savanna, Oklahoma. This marks the 11th franchise location to open this year. Strategically positioned at 9062 US-69, about 130 miles from Oklahoma City, this facility offers essential amenities to truckers and travelers alike. With 80 truck parking spaces, including 10 Reserve-It spots soon to be available, drivers will find plenty of room to rest and recharge. Facilities also include three private showers, laundry options, and a range of dining choices such as an on-site deli. Sbarro and Dunkin’ are also set to open soon.

Maryland Expands I-70 Parking

Meanwhile, in Maryland, the State Highway Administration is significantly increasing truck parking capacity at the South Mountain Welcome Center on I-70. Here, 25 new spaces are being added, raising the total to 74 spots. This expansion project employs pervious concrete for improved drainage and safety. Notably, the welcome center recorded the highest occupancy rate for trucks staying over eight hours in Maryland, making this expansion timely and necessary. Completion is projected for the end of 2025, barring weather delays.

Both these projects exemplify efforts to improve rest opportunities for truckers, enhancing safety and convenience. According to the Maryland Department of Transportation, “This expansion provides much-needed relief for drivers, improving both safety and efficiency.” These initiatives stand as testament to the ongoing commitment to support the trucking community across states.
