Fuel rewards programs are nothing new in trucking, but Sprint Mart is introducing one specifically structured for professional drivers.

The company announced the launch of a new Professional Driver Rewards program designed for truck drivers, delivery operators, and other commercial vehicle professionals who regularly fuel at Sprint Mart locations.

Unlike standard consumer rewards apps, this program focuses on driver-specific perks tied directly to fuel purchases.

How the Sprint Mart Driver Rewards Program Works

Drivers earn points for every gallon of fuel purchased. Those points can then be redeemed for practical benefits that support life on the road.

The program features two status levels:

Gold

Diamond

As drivers move up in tier status, reward value increases.

According to the company, points can be redeemed for:

Free showers

Fountain drinks

Discounts on in-store items such as Bluetooth headsets

Emergency gear

Comfort products for the cab

The program is separate from Sprint Mart’s existing general consumer loyalty system and is tailored specifically to professional drivers.

“Our drivers are essential partners in everything we do. … We wanted to create something that truly adds value to their day-to-day lives,” said Herb Hargraves, chief operating officer at Sprint Mart.

Travel Center Amenities and Footprint

Sprint Mart operates 94 locations across Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. Of those, 10 are designated travel centers. Five of those locations currently offer showers, according to the company.

For drivers running regional lanes through the Gulf Coast and Southeast corridors, this may create additional incentive to route fuel stops strategically.

The program is scheduled to go live early this month. Sprint Mart also plans to host live events at select travel plazas, allowing drivers to ask questions and enroll in person.

Loyalty Programs as a Competitive Strategy

While other convenience store chains have focused on payment integrations and broader digital tools, Sprint Mart is positioning its new driver rewards platform as a targeted engagement strategy.

For industry stakeholders, loyalty incentives tied directly to fuel volume can influence routing decisions, especially for owner-operators tracking cost per mile and seeking value-added amenities such as showers and cab essentials.

In addition to launching the driver rewards program, Sprint Mart has also been implementing technology upgrades across its operations, including tools to automate invoice management and streamline cash handling processes.

For truck drivers operating in Mississippi, Alabama, or Louisiana, the new program offers another option to turn routine fuel purchases into tangible on-the-road benefits.

On April 19, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signed a bill into law aimed at curbing predatory towing practices against commercial vehicles in the state.

This new law establishes a Commercial Vehicle Towing Advisory Committee within the Department of Public Safety’s Public Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division.

“Predatory towing is an egregious practice that not only disrupts our state’s supply chain, but also costs Mississippi truck owners thousands of dollars for each unwanted tow,” said Mississippi Trucking Association President Hal Miller. “We are grateful to Mississippi legislators for listening to our concerns about this unfair tactic, and we thank Gov. Reeves for swiftly signing this bill into law.”

Among its responsibilities, the committee will set regulations and standards for towing services to be included on the approved tow list, define application procedures, and establish minimum qualification requirements. It will also set statewide maximum towing and storage rates for nonconsensual tows, including those on private property.

The law takes a firm stance against unfair practices, prohibiting towing companies from using per-pound billing for nonconsensual towing. It also mandates the creation of a Towing Service Standard Manual, a clear and transparent guide that governs the use of towing and recovery services for such instances involving commercial vehicles, ensuring a fair and just process for all.

Defined within the law, “nonconsensual towing” pertains to the movement, transportation, or recovery of a commercial vehicle by a towing service without prior consent from the vehicle owner or operator, whether from private property or initiated by law enforcement.

Furthermore, the law ensures that vehicle owners or their representatives can access personal property from their nonconsensual towed vehicles at storage facilities, irrespective of whether payment has been made for the towing service.

Before initiating a nonconsensual tow, towing services must document the vehicle’s condition and reason for towing, providing multiple photographs from various angles upon request by the vehicle owner. Moreover, the law prohibits the use of vehicle immobilization devices by towing services unless directed by law enforcement.

This legislation will be effective on July 1.
