Ohio Peterbilt is preparing to officially open its new full-service dealership in Etna, Ohio, adding another large truck service location along the Interstate 70 corridor east of Columbus.

The company announced that a grand opening celebration is scheduled for July 29 at 1 p.m. at the new facility, located about 20 miles east of downtown Columbus.

Ohio Peterbilt said Heavy D and Diesel Dave from the television series Diesel Brothers will appear during the event. The company also said select customers will have an opportunity to win a meet and greet with the pair by entering here.

“Our Etna location is more than just a new dealership, it’s a destination,” said Mike Crawford, vice president of Ohio Peterbilt.

The New Etna Facility Adds Expanded Service Capacity

According to the company, the new Etna dealership covers 82,000 square feet and includes 25 service bays, a central parts distribution center, expanded office and retail space, and maintenance operations designed to support fleets and owner operators moving freight throughout central Ohio and the Midwest.

The facility also includes direct access near Interstate 70, one of the region’s busiest freight corridors.

Ohio Peterbilt described the Etna project as a major investment intended to expand service capacity and improve support for customers operating throughout the area.

Grand Opening Event Will Feature Diesel Brothers Guests

“We’re excited to officially open our doors and celebrate with our customers, partners, and the community,” Crawford said. “Having Heavy D and Diesel Dave join us makes this event even more special, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to see what this facility has to offer.”

The company said the dealership was built to provide expanded truck service, maintenance, and parts support for drivers and fleets operating across the Midwest.

For more information about the Etna dealership and the July grand opening celebration, Ohio Peterbilt said customers can visit the company website.

Truck drivers running through western Ohio have a new stop to add to their route. Wawa has officially opened a new travel center just off Interstate 75 in Lima, giving drivers another option for fuel, parking, and a quick reset during long runs.

The location sits at Exit 20, a well-traveled stretch for regional and long-haul freight moving through the Midwest. For fleets and owner-operators, that placement matters. Easy on and off access can make a difference when you are watching your clock or trying to line up your next break.

Built with Drivers in Mind

This is not a standard convenience store setup. Wawa designed this travel center format to better serve professional drivers alongside everyday travelers.

At the Lima site, drivers will find:

A high-speed diesel fuel court built to handle larger volumes

CAT scales available on-site

Free parking for tractor-trailers

Clean restrooms and a pet relief area

These are the basic+ drivers to look for when planning stops, especially in busy freight corridors where parking can be limited.

Part of a Growing Travel Center Push

The Lima opening marks the third travel center Wawa has rolled out under this newer format. The company is steadily expanding beyond its traditional footprint, adding locations that can handle both passenger vehicles and commercial traffic.

Other travel centers are already operating in Hope Mills, North Carolina, and Richmond, Indiana, signaling a broader push into areas where truck traffic and regional travel overlap.

For industry stakeholders, this kind of expansion reflects ongoing competition in the truck stop and travel plaza space. More options can improve access to parking and services, but it also raises expectations for speed, cleanliness, and overall driver experience.

A Focus on Convenience and Consistency

Wawa says the goal is to combine its food and beverage offerings with the kind of fuel access and layout that works for larger vehicles.

“Wawa’s 60-year history includes innovating and evolving our store design to meet the changing needs of customers, said Brian Schaller, president of Wawa. “In less than one year, we opened three locations that provide the convenience of fuel and Wawa’s fresh food and beverages to local customers, travelers, and professional drivers.”

What This Means on the Road

For drivers, another reliable stop along I-75 can help with trip planning, especially on routes where timing and available parking can shift quickly.

For fleets, it adds another consistent option for fueling and breaks, which can help with route efficiency and driver satisfaction.

As more companies invest in upgraded travel centers, the expectation is simple. Drivers want fast fuel, available parking, and a place that makes it easy to get back on the road without losing time. Locations like this are aiming to check those boxes while keeping up with the demands of modern trucking.

If you have ever wondered what kind of rig it takes to move a massive fifty-three-foot Christmas tree across the country, the answer rolled back into Ohio. A Kenworth T680 built by the crew in Chillicothe returned home carrying one of the most talked-about loads of the season, the 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree.

The T680, assembled at the Chillicothe plant, stopped in on November 16 so employees could look over “The People’s Tree” before it wrapped up its trip to Washington, D.C. The truck was driven by Michael Porter, a Swift Transportation driver based out of the Phoenix terminal. He has been hauling the tree from town to town as part of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Tour.

This year’s tree is a red fir nicknamed “Silver Belle.” It came out of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada and has made community stops across the country. The tour theme for 2025 highlights the Spirit of the Silver State.

Kenworth employees take extra pride in seeing their work roll in with a haul like this. Plant manager Doug VanZuiden said, “Our employees take great pride in assembling The World’s Best Trucks and welcoming back the T680, built right here in Chillicothe, has become a special way for our employees and their families to kick off the holiday season.”

Knight Swift was chosen as this year’s tour carrier and selected Porter to handle the run. Kenworth provided a specially wrapped T680 featuring Nevada forest artwork along with a seventy-six-inch sleeper and the full PACCAR Powertrain, including the PACCAR MX 13 engine, PACCAR TX 12 automated transmission, and PACCAR DX 40 tandem rear axles.

The tour also featured real-time GPS tracking using Kenworth’s TruckTech Plus connected technology. Anyone following the journey could check the tree’s location through the Kenworth Tree Tracker map.

This is the twelfth straight year a Kenworth will deliver the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. Silver Belle is scheduled to arrive on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on November 21. The annual lighting ceremony will take place in early December.

More details about the tour can be found on the official 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree website.

Pilot has just opened two new travel centers, giving professional drivers a total of 165 dedicated truck parking spots across Ohio and Texas. These locations are designed to make long hauls a little easier with plenty of amenities built around drivers’ needs.

Findlay, Ohio Travel Center

Located at 11471 State Route 613W, the fully rebuilt Findlay location now offers 80 truck parking spaces and 59 car spots. The center features a Taco Bell for quick meals, clean restrooms and showers, public laundry facilities, a hot and cold deli, fully stocked beverage coolers, and three self-checkouts for faster service. Drivers can also take advantage of mobile fueling and exclusive perks through the Pilot app.

Eagle Pass, Texas Travel Center

The Eagle Pass location at 4392 El Indio Highway is a brand-new addition to Pilot’s network, offering 85 truck parking spaces, 65 car spaces, and eight diesel lanes. Amenities mirror those at Findlay, including clean restrooms and showers, public laundry, a hot and cold deli, beverage coolers, and four self-checkouts. Mobile fueling and Pilot app perks are also available.

Pilot emphasized the importance of driver comfort and efficiency in both locations. “Whether drivers need fuel, a meal, or just a place to recharge, these locations are designed to keep them moving comfortably and efficiently,” the company said.

These two travel centers are part of Pilot’s ongoing upgrades across the U.S. and Canada, aimed at supporting professional drivers with safer, more convenient, and driver-focused stops on the road.

Finding safe, reliable truck parking just got a little easier. Pilot announced the opening of two new locations this week, giving drivers 165 more places to park and rest. The new sites include a completely rebuilt stop in Findlay, Ohio, and a brand-new location in Eagle Pass, Texas.

For drivers running routes through the Midwest, the Findlay stop at 11471 State Route 613W has been redesigned from the ground up with truckers in mind. The site now features 80 dedicated truck parking spaces, clean showers, and public laundry facilities. There’s also a Taco Bell on-site, along with a deli offering both hot and cold meal options that make it easier to grab a quick bite between runs.

The Findlay location now includes three self-checkout stations to cut down on wait times, plus mobile fueling and exclusive driver rewards through the Pilot app.

Down south in Eagle Pass, Texas, Pilot’s newest stop at 4392 El Indio Highway brings even more to the table for drivers hauling through the Lone Star State. This location adds 85 truck parking spaces and eight diesel lanes designed to keep fueling fast and efficient. Inside, drivers will find the same clean showers, laundry access, and deli options that make Pilot a trusted stop across the country. Four self-checkouts make for quick in-and-out trips, and mobile fueling through the Pilot app offers extra convenience and perks.

Between the two locations, Pilot’s latest openings are helping to close the gap in truck parking availability, one of the biggest challenges professional drivers face on the road.

With hundreds of locations nationwide, Pilot continues to upgrade and expand its network to make life easier for drivers who keep America moving.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has recently announced the upcoming closure of the Northbound I-75 rest area due to essential pavement maintenance on Tuesday, August 20. This particular rest area, situated four miles south of Bowling Green at mile marker 179, will see the passenger vehicle parking lot shut down beginning at 6 a.m. The anticipated closure will extend until approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, during which time all restroom and refreshment services will be unavailable to visitors.

To ensure safety, barrels and barricades will be placed to prevent access to the passenger parking area. It’s essential to note that commercial truck parking will remain accessible, allowing tractor trailers to park without interruption. However, truck drivers should remain aware that restroom and refreshment facilities will be closed throughout this period.

The sealcoating maintenance is expected to be concluded within a single day, with all traffic control devices removed by Wednesday morning, August 21, thereby restoring the rest area’s full operations.

On Wednesday, July 24, the 14th of nearly two dozen “super loads” departs from the Ohio River dock site in Adams County, heading towards New Albany for the new Intel plant in Licking County. This convoy includes the third of four loads that each weigh over 900,000 pounds.

This particular load is an air processor known as a cold box, essential for silicon chip manufacturing. The dimensions of this colossal piece of equipment are staggering—it stands at approximately 22 feet 9 inches tall, stretches 19 feet 9 inches wide, spans 278 feet 2 inches long, and tips the scales at 915,546 pounds.

The transport will take more than a week, with planned stops in West Portsmouth, Lucasville, Chillicothe, Rickenbacker, Pickerington, and Pataskala, before finally reaching its destination on Tuesday, July 30.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) warns that these extra-large loads will significantly affect traffic. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and avoid the convoy’s path to minimize delays.

Due to the enormity and slow speed of the loads, the convoy will start earlier each day to ensure daylight travel. The ODOT anticipates a heightened public interest, which could result in large crowds along the route and additional traffic delays. Public safety remains the top priority. Spectators are urged to steer clear of the transport trucks and crews and to stay off the sidewalks along the roadway. If instructed to move back, observers should comply immediately.

To accommodate these super loads, ODOT has meticulously analyzed and planned the route. Each convoy will be escorted by several Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, ensuring that emergency vehicles can bypass the rolling roadblock with minimal disruption. In collaboration with local governments and utility companies, modifications have been made to obstructions along the route, such as adjusting large overhead signs, traffic signals, and utility lines.

Advance notifications will be provided before each load departs from the dock near the village of Manchester in Adams County. Updates will be continuously shared as the loads progress north toward central Ohio.
