A significant safety issue has led to the recall of over 200,000 Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks due to a potential malfunction in their anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability control features. This critical defect raises concerns about the functionality of certain models and their ability to maintain safe driving conditions.

The Issue at Hand

PACCAR Incorporated has initiated a recall impacting a range of Kenworth and Peterbilt models from the 2021 to 2025 production years. The affected trucks are equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECUs). The recall is attributed to electrical noise and weak power line signals, which may cause the ECU to misinterpret commands or cease functioning entirely.

Next Steps for Truck Owners

PACCAR has assured owners that dealers will update the ECU software entirely free of charge to resolve this defect. If you’re an owner of an affected model, expect to receive notification letters beginning February 7, 2025.

For further assistance, owners can reach out to:

Kenworth Customer Service at 1-425-828-5888

Peterbilt Customer Service at 1-940-591-4220

PACCAR has designated this recall under the identification numbers 24KWL and 24PBL.

Models Impacted by the Recall

Here’s a complete list of the affected models:
