If you’re driving a Peterbilt or International truck, pay close attention. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reporting that PACCAR and International are recalling more than 1,300 trucks due to safety issues that could affect your brakes.

PACCAR Recall

PACCAR is recalling some 2026 Peterbilt 567 and 589 trucks because the air tanks don’t hold enough air for the brakes. That means these trucks don’t meet the federal safety standard for air brakes. Only 62 trucks are affected, but if you drive one of them, it’s important to get it fixed.

Dealers will replace the tanks with the right ones at no cost. Letters to owners are expected to go out on January 16, 2026. You can also call Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220. The PACCAR recall number is 25PACH.

International Recall

International is recalling certain 2023-2026 LT trucks and 2024-2025 RH trucks. The problem is with the Hill Start Assist system. If the exhaust port gets clogged, it could delay or stop the service brakes from releasing, which is dangerous.

This recall covers 1,303 trucks. Dealers will relocate the HSA valve exhaust free of charge. Letters were mailed on January 12, 2026. For questions, call International at 1-800-448-7825. The recall number is 25522.

What This Means for Drivers

If you drive one of these trucks, check your VIN and set up a repair appointment as soon as possible. Both PACCAR and International are handling the repairs at no cost, but waiting could put you and your load at risk. Staying on top of recalls keeps you safe on the road and helps make sure your deliveries stay on schedule.

Peterbilt has officially launched the innovative PACCAR TX-12 PRO automated transmission, now paired with the robust PACCAR MX-13 engines for its Models 579, 567, and 589. This announcement, shared in a media release, highlights a new milestone for the company.

A Seamless Powertrain Built for Versatility

Headquartered in Denton, Texas, Peterbilt designed the latest transmission-engine pairing to offer unparalleled performance for both on-highway and vocational tasks, including dump truck and tanker operations.

Erik Johnson, assistant general manager of Sales and Marketing at Peterbilt, shared his thoughts on the new development, saying, “The seamless integration of the TX-12 PRO transmission and the PACCAR MX-13 engine creates a robust powertrain configuration for many types of on-highway and vocational applications.”

Fuel Efficiency and Reliability at Its Core

According to Peterbilt, the TX-12 PRO was crafted to deliver exceptional fuel economy and enhanced uptime. When combined with the MX-13 engine, the powertrain offers an impressive torque capacity of up to 1,700 lb.-ft. Its versatility makes it a perfect fit for a range of vehicles, including municipal trucks, tankers, dump trucks, and beyond.

Peterbilt’s latest innovation reinforces its commitment to providing cutting-edge, efficient, and reliable solutions for both vocational and commercial operations.
