At Work Truck Week 2026 in Indianapolis, Knapheide introduced its new “America’s Work Truck” campaign. The initiative aims to showcase how modern work trucks improve productivity, safety, and efficiency for fleets and crews across the United States.

The Quincy, Illinois-based company positioned the campaign as both a brand effort and a way to highlight the role vocational trucks play in industries such as skilled trades, utilities, infrastructure, maintenance, and other essential services.

“This is a meaningful moment for our industry and for the people who rely on work trucks every day,” said Bo Knapheide, president and CEO of Knapheide. “For 178 years, our mission has stayed the same: build tools that help America work. America’s Work Truck honors that legacy while clarifying what the modern work truck can and should be for today’s workforce.”

Defining the Modern Work Truck

Knapheide explained that the campaign is designed to do more than promote the company brand. It aims to help drivers, fleet managers, and contractors understand how truck bodies and equipment can be configured to make crews more effective and efficient.

“Workers know trucks but not always how a truck can be built to work the way they do,” said Mandar Dighe, vice president of sales and marketing at Knapheide. “No one has told that story at national scale before. America’s Work Truck is a clear signal for the category and a promise of clarity for customers. It defines who we are, who we’ve always been, and how we support the people behind the work.”

By connecting its history and national reach with the story of skilled trades, Knapheide wants to show how modern work trucks support safe and productive fleet operations.

Growth, Capacity, and Supporting Skilled Trades

The campaign comes as demand for vocational trucks rises and awareness of modern truck capabilities remains uneven. Knapheide continues to scale production, technology, and distribution, working with more than 250 distributor partners nationwide.

The company also notes that more work trucks on U.S. roads carry its name than any other brand, and it links this to nearly two centuries of family ownership.

“Our story is deeply tied to America’s story,” Bo Knapheide said. “We’ve built alongside generations of workers through economic cycles and industry change. America’s Work Truck is our way of honoring the past while preparing for the next era of American work.”

Campaign Rollout and Industry Reach

The Work Truck Week introduction is the first step in a larger, year-long campaign. Knapheide plans to expand the message across industry events, business networks, and cultural platforms starting April 1, with broader awareness efforts continuing throughout 2026.

The campaign reinforces Knapheide’s core values of craftsmanship, reliability, and customer service, showing the company’s commitment to supporting independent contractors and national fleets alike.

Lake Michigan College (LMC) is making waves in Southwest Michigan with a newly established $100,000 scholarship fund aimed at supporting short-term, non-credit training programs. This initiative, spearheaded by the Lake Michigan College Foundation, is designed to address the growing demand for skilled workers in the region.

The scholarship is specifically available to students enrolling in the college’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program, located at its Benton Harbor campus.

“Employers and job providers have told us short-term training opportunities like the LMC Truck Driving School and the Marine Maintenance Technology program are in high demand,” explained Doug Schaffer, Vice President of Advancement and Community Impact. “Those programs, however, are not eligible for traditional financial aid like Pell grants or state scholarship programs. This is the LMC Foundation stepping in to fill a significant need in our community to help students with career opportunities.”

The CDL program, a cornerstone of LMC’s short-term training offerings, is conducted in partnership with Regen Trucking School. Students can complete all requirements in just three weeks at the South Haven campus. Additionally, the Marine Maintenance Technology program, a recent addition to LMC’s lineup, is also included in the scholarship initiative.

Jeremy Burleson, Associate Dean of the South Haven Campus and Select Academic Programs, highlighted the importance of this funding: “We have a great deal of interest in truck driving, but the stumbling block has been the lack of financial aid for students. The Lake Michigan College Foundation is paving the way for high-paying jobs, and we are grateful to LMC donors and leaders for again removing barriers for people in our community. This is great news for our region and our students.”

By addressing the financial challenges that often accompany short-term training programs, Lake Michigan College is opening doors to lucrative career paths for individuals in Southwest Michigan.

Empowering the Next Generation of Fleet Technicians

Fleetio is addressing one of the fleet industry’s most significant challenges: technician turnover. To celebrate National Automotive Service Professionals Day, Fleetio proudly announced the recipients of its first Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Scholarship program. This initiative is aimed at developing the skills of future fleet technicians and addressing the talent shortage that continues to impact the automotive service industry.

Supporting Technician Development

“We are proud to partner with Fleetio to support deserving technicians in earning their industry credentials and building their expertise,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of ASE. “Especially during a time where qualified technician shortages are impacting the fleet industry, we are grateful for Fleetio’s dedication to investing in technician development.”

Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of vehicles relied upon by millions each day. However, the fleet industry faces a significant challenge with a 30–40% annual turnover rate. According to Fleetio, this issue is exacerbated by insufficient onboarding processes and the lack of structured, ongoing mentorship. The ASE Scholarship Program seeks to address these gaps, empowering technicians with the tools, resources, and support necessary to establish strong, rewarding careers.

Fleetio explained, “By enhancing earning potential and creating clear pathways for growth, the program not only validates skills but also helps technicians find long-term success in the automotive field.”

Meet the 2025 Fleetio ASE Scholarship Winners

Grand Prize Winner

This year’s grand prize winner is Michael Hairston of Life Ride. He will receive a $3,000 scholarship to cover fees for three ASE professional-level Certification tests, along with funds for essential tools and supplies.

“I am most honored to be a recipient of this scholarship and extend my sincere gratitude to Fleetio for their generous support of my continued education and professional development,” Hairston said. “This financial assistance will be invaluable as I continue to advance my career as a maintenance technician at Life Ride.”

Runner-Up Winners

Five additional ASE Scholarship recipients, named as runner-ups, were awarded $1,000 each to cover fees for ASE Certification tests and tool upgrades. The winners include:

Alex Palma – Quarry Management

Andrew Cureton – AAA Oregon/Idaho

Angel Gonzalez – General Pavement Management

Chase Statter – Student Nominee, redbox+ Dumpsters

Katherine Daniel – St. Johns County School District

These awards prioritize ongoing professional development, illustrating a commitment to strengthening the workforce within the fleet industry.

A Step Toward Solving the Talent Shortage

The Fleetio ASE Scholarship Program underscores the importance of investing in the next generation of skilled technicians. By addressing key hurdles such as onboarding inefficiencies and insufficient mentorship, Fleetio and ASE are building a stronger, more sustainable future for the fleet industry.

Fastport just passed a huge milestone—27,000 registered apprentices and counting. It’s a big moment for a company that’s spent years working behind the scenes to strengthen America’s workforce, especially in transportation, distribution, and logistics.

Since 2017, Fastport has teamed up with more than 300 organizations to build out apprenticeship programs that actually work. These aren’t just training checklists—they’re real-world, hands-on experiences that help people build careers in everything from trucking to railroads to maritime jobs.

Over time, the program has expanded to cover 35 different occupations, and it’s still growing. Behind every apprentice is a mix of structure, mentorship, and skill-building designed to open doors and get people hired.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Fastport’s exceeding 27,000 registered apprentices and acknowledge the great work of all of our great industry association partners, like the American Trucking Association, Truckload Carriers Association, The Trucking Alliance, Next Generation Trucking to name a few,” said Dave Harrison, executive director for Workforce Development, Government Programs, and Military Employment Issues at Fastport.

This milestone isn’t just a number—it’s a reminder of how impactful registered apprenticeships can be when done right. For Fastport, it’s another step forward in helping build a strong, reliable workforce in some of the country’s most vital industries.
