The Trucking Cares Foundation (TCF) and the Tennessee Trucking Foundation (TTF) have united in their commitment to promote child passenger safety. Together, they donated $10,000 to the Ollie Otter Booster Seat and Seat Belt Safety Program, marking the second consecutive year of supporting this important cause. The donation will fund up to 200 car seats and booster seats for families across Tennessee who cannot afford them.

Last month, families gathered at the 2024 Community Safety Fest in Bradley County, Tennessee, where some of the donated car seats were distributed. The event featured car seat safety inspections and other educational activities aimed at raising safety awareness.

“Whenever Tennessee parents hit the road, we want them to be able to have the peace of mind that their most precious cargo—their child—is properly buckled in,” said John Lynch, President of the Trucking Cares Foundation. “We are proud to partner with the Ollie Otter program, which can help parents and caregivers break through the confusion of seatbelt configurations and properly match the best car seat or booster seat with their child. This mission aligns with the Trucking Cares Foundation’s objective to harness the power of the ATA Federation to help others while also promoting highway safety.”

Echoing these sentiments, Donna England, President and CEO of the Tennessee Trucking Association and Executive Vice President of the Tennessee Trucking Foundation, emphasized the importance of keeping children safe on the road. “Our mission is to advance highway safety, with one of the key ways being ensuring every family has access to properly fitted car seats, creating safer roads for our children,” England stated. “Through our partnerships with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and the Ollie Otter Program, we are dedicated to providing the necessary resources to protect young travelers. Together, we can build a future where every child in Tennessee travels safely.”

The effort highlights the vital role partnerships play in community safety initiatives. By addressing the financial barrier to accessing properly fitted car seats, both organizations are helping to create safer roadways for families across the state.
