During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (Sept. 10-16), Fleet Advantage is going the extra mile to show their gratitude. Through their Kids Around the Corner Foundation (KATC), Fleet Advantage is making generous donations to two organizations that support truckers – TruckersFinalMile.org and Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT).

“The impact of truck drivers is felt in every corner of the country, as they are vital to supplying the things that fill our lives and power our economy,” said Elizabeth Gomez, marketing manager for Fleet Advantage, and chairperson for the KATC committee.

“National Truck Driver Appreciation Week serves as a reminder of how important these hardworking men and women are to keep goods flowing,” she continued. “We are proud to donate to such powerful nonprofit organizations whose missions offer care, assistance and the means for truck drivers’ families to remain close to one another and to make an impact in their communities.”

Since 2021, KATC has been a proud annual donor to TruckersFinalMile.org. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to reuniting North American truck drivers and their families during difficult times such as crises, loss of life, severe injuries, or serious illnesses. Through their six unique programs, TruckersFinalMile.org has successfully brought together over 500 truck drivers and their families since their establishment in May 2014.

KATC has been honored to be an official corporate sponsor for three consecutive years, with this year marking their largest contribution. Through their support, KATC has played a vital role in securing college education savings accounts through TruckersFinalMile.org’s annual Christmas campaign called “Sleigh Bells and Santa.” If you would like to become a sponsor or make a donation to the “Sleigh Bells & Santa” Christmas campaign this year, please click HERE or reach out to msleighbells@truckersfinalmile.org no later than December 8, 2023. In addition, new and unwrapped gifts can be sent to TruckersFinalMile.org at 3301-R Coors Blvd. NW #293, Albuquerque, NM 87120, also no later than December 8.

“With the help of Fleet Advantage, our program has been able to make the difference in the lives of thousands of children and families of truck drivers, who unfortunately face grief and trauma during the loss of a parent,” said Robert Palm, founder and CEO of TruckersFinalMile.org. “We simply can’t thank companies like Fleet Advantage enough. Their contributions, compassion and understanding plays a large part in helping to heal these families in a time of great need.”

KATC, a sponsor at the “Gold Level,” is taking steps to honor truck drivers and their families while also addressing the issue of human trafficking. In support of this cause, KATC is donating funds to TAT, a nonprofit organization that has been actively working since 2009 to educate and empower the trucking industry to fight against human trafficking. TAT recognizes the unique position of trucking professionals, who are often on the road when law enforcement cannot be and believes they can play a crucial role in identifying and reporting human trafficking. TAT also collaborates with other industries, such as buses and energy, as well as industry shippers and manufacturers, to raise awareness and combat human trafficking on a broader scale.

“It’s exciting to see a company like Fleet Advantage lend its influence and resources to combat human trafficking,” said Esther Goetsch, executive director of TAT. “Recognizing the unique role the trucking industry can play in helping recognize and report human trafficking and become potential points of safety and recovery for victims is inspiring. We are so grateful to Fleet Advantage for helping advance our mission, and truly believe that together, we are changing lives.”

Southern Recipe is once again showing their appreciation for truck drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. This year, they are donating $7,500 to the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, with an additional $5,000 from Rudolph Foods going directly to the organization’s trucker wellness programs.

The focus of this campaign is to bring attention to the truck driving community and raise awareness about the importance of truck driver well-being. Throughout August and into Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Southern Recipe is encouraging drivers to take advantage of the free health screenings and services offered on the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund website.

In addition to their generous donations, Southern Recipe is actively promoting the free health programs available to truckers, including Rigs Without Cigs and the Diabetes Prevention Program. They are also inviting their fans to get involved by participating in the “Tune Up Challenge” on social media, spreading the word about the wellness programs provided by the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund.

For every share of the “Tune Up Challenge,” participants have a chance to win free products from Southern Recipe. And for every trucker who signs up for a program on the SCF website, they will be entered to win a free case of pork rinds.

“Everything we do, and everything we buy, is touched by a truck driver. Every year, we strive to support drivers as best we can,” shared Mark Singleton, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Southern Recipe and Rudolph Foods. “These men and women help fuel our families with food and comfort. We’ve been celebrating these important road heroes for more than a decade now, with our incredible charity partner, the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund.”

Every year, Truck Driver Appreciation Week rolls around, and it’s more than just a reason to celebrate those who navigate our highways and byways. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of truck drivers and their crucial role in keeping our economy and daily lives running smoothly. Today, we’re here to tell you why Truck Driver Appreciation Week should matter to every American, and why we should spread our appreciation of these unsung heroes year-round, beyond this week.

Why Truck Driver Appreciation Matters
Truck drivers drive more than freight, they drive our economy, responsible for the transportation of goods that sustain our daily lives. Appreciating truck drivers means acknowledging their tireless efforts, sacrifices, and the essential role they play in keeping America running smoothly.

Backbone of the Economy
Truck drivers are the backbone of our nation’s economy. They transport goods from manufacturers to distribution centers, retail stores, and homes across the country. Without their dedication and tireless efforts, the supply chain would grind to a halt, affecting everything from groceries on store shelves to medical supplies in hospitals.

Everyday Essentials
Think about your daily life – the fresh produce you enjoy, the clothes you wear, the electronics you use – all of these items have likely spent time on a truck before reaching you. Truck drivers ensure that we have access to the everyday essentials we often take for granted.

Long Hours and Sacrifices
Truck drivers work long hours, often spending weeks away from their families. They brave harsh weather conditions, traffic, and the perils of the road to make sure we get what we need when we need it. Their sacrifices cannot be overstated and should not be taken for granted.

Safety on the Roads
Truck drivers are also some of the safest drivers on the road. They undergo rigorous training and adhere to strict safety standards to protect not only themselves but also everyone else on the highway. Their commitment to safety is unparalleled, and that alone is worth celebrating.

Physically and Mentally Demanding

Truck driving is not just physically demanding but mentally exhausting as well. Drivers need to stay alert, navigate complex routes, and make quick decisions on the road. The job is so much more than holding a steering wheel and enjoying the view – the toll this takes on their bodies and minds can be significant.

Honoring Truckers Year-Round
While Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an excellent time to show our gratitude, we should make an effort to honor truck drivers throughout the year. Here are some ways to do just that:

Respect on the Road
Always be courteous and patient when sharing the road with trucks. Give them the space they need and avoid cutting them off or tailgating. Small gestures go a long way.

Express Appreciation
Take a moment to thank a truck driver if you encounter one at a rest stop or while refueling. A simple “thank you” can brighten their day and remind them that their hard work is noticed.

Advocate for Truckers
Support policies and initiatives that advocate for fair pay, reasonable working hours, more parking, and other things that drivers need to thrive. Their well-being should be a priority to every single American.

Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a time for us to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of truck drivers, the true heroes of our economy. They ensure that goods reach our homes, stores, and hospitals, playing a vital role in our daily lives. It’s crucial to remember that our appreciation should extend beyond this designated week. By showing respect on the road, expressing our gratitude, and advocating for their rights, we can honor truck drivers throughout the year. To all the truckers out there, we offer our sincerest appreciation for your hard work and dedication, this week and every week. Thank you for keeping America moving!
