A “Do Not Drive” recall has been issued for nearly 800 Mack and Volvo trucks because of a wheel-mounting issue that could allow wheel lug nuts to loosen and a wheel to detach.

The recall affects approximately 644 Mack trucks and 155 Volvo trucks.

According to recall information, the affected vehicles may have an issue related to wheel and hub mating surfaces. Because of the potential for wheel separation, affected trucks should not be driven until they have been inspected and repaired.

The recall includes the following models:

2026 Mack Anthem

2026-2027 Mack Pinnacle

2026-2027 Mack Pioneer

2026-2027 Mack Granite

2027 Mack Anthem

2026 Volvo VAH

2026-2027 Volvo VNL

2026-2027 Volvo VN

2026-2027 Volvo VHD

2027 Volvo VNR

To address the issue, dealers will inspect the wheel and hub mating surfaces, remove any masking material, and replace worn components if necessary. Repairs will be performed at no cost to owners.

Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed beginning June 5.

A brake problem rarely announces itself at a convenient time. Sometimes it starts with a vibration drivers have been meaning to get checked. Sometimes it is a component that looked acceptable during a quick walkaround but has been slowly wearing down for months. Either way, brake issues have a habit of becoming expensive once inspectors find them before maintenance does.

That is one reason drivers may want to pay attention to the latest announcement from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.

CVSA has scheduled this year’s Brake Safety Week for Aug. 23-29. During the seven-day initiative, certified inspectors throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico will conduct commercial vehicle inspections with a heightened focus on braking systems.

For many drivers, the announcement serves as a reminder that August will arrive faster than expected.

Brake Drums and Rotors Will Receive Extra Attention

Each year, CVSA places additional emphasis on a specific brake-related area during the inspection campaign. This year, inspectors will focus closely on brake drums and rotors.

According to CVSA, damaged drums and rotors can reduce braking performance and create hazards for everyone sharing the road. Cracked components, excessive wear, and other defects can affect stopping ability. In more serious cases, pieces may separate from the vehicle while it is traveling, creating risks for nearby motorists.

While inspectors will evaluate overall brake system condition, drivers can expect drums and rotors to receive additional scrutiny throughout the week.

A Small Problem Can Become a Large Violation

Many out-of-service violations do not begin as major mechanical failures. In many cases, maintenance issues develop gradually and become more serious when they are ignored.

Brake Safety Week often highlights problems that may have been identified earlier through inspections, maintenance reviews, or driver reports. What begins as a repair that can be scheduled during routine maintenance may eventually become a violation that sidelines equipment and disrupts freight schedules.

For drivers paid by the mile, unexpected downtime can quickly become more costly than the repair itself.

Inspection Data Helps Identify Industry Trends

In addition to roadside inspections, CVSA uses Brake Safety Week to collect information about brake-related violations across North America.

Inspectors participating in the initiative will submit inspection data to the organization after the event concludes. CVSA will then analyze the findings and release the results later this year.

The annual reports often provide a snapshot of where brake maintenance issues continue to surface and how frequently inspectors encounter serious violations during roadside inspections.

The Goal Is Not Just Enforcement

Although enforcement receives most of the attention, Brake Safety Week also includes an educational component.

CVSA says inspectors and transportation officials will use the initiative to engage with drivers, carriers, and maintenance personnel about the role proper brake maintenance plays in preventing crashes and improving roadway safety.

The organization continues to encourage drivers and carriers to conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and address maintenance concerns before they become larger problems.

What Drivers Can Do Before August

With several months remaining before Brake Safety Week begins, drivers still have time to identify issues that could attract attention during inspections.

That starts with taking brake concerns seriously when they appear. Unusual noises, vibrations, pulling during braking, or visible component damage are all issues worth reporting before they become violations.

The announcement may be months ahead of the actual enforcement period, but drivers who use the time to address maintenance concerns now are less likely to find themselves dealing with unexpected downtime once inspectors begin their focused inspections later this summer.

More than 400 electric yard trucks are now part of a safety recall that could affect daily operations in yards, distribution centers, and port environments.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 462 trucks from Orange EV are impacted.

What Units Are Affected

The recall covers several models commonly used in yard operations:

2022 to 2023 T Series Pure Electric Terminal Trucks

2023 to 2025 e TRIEVER models

2023 to 2026 HUSK e terminal trucks

These trucks are widely used for moving trailers in tight yard environments, where reliability and safety are critical for both drivers and ground personnel.

What the Issue Is

The concern centers around the optional foldaway training seat. In certain conditions, the seat may fail.

Because of that, the affected trucks do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirements for seating systems and seat belt anchorages. That creates a potential safety risk anytime the training seat is in use.

What Drivers and Fleets Should Do Now

Until a fix is available, owners are being told to limit use of the training seat.

For drivers and yard operators, this is a reminder to double-check equipment before use, especially when training or running with a second person in the cab. Fleets may also want to review internal safety procedures to make sure teams are aware of the issue.

What Happens Next

A repair solution is still being developed. In the meantime:

Interim notification letters are expected to be mailed by April 24

A second notice will go out once the fix is ready

Owners can contact Orange EV customer service at 1 866 688 5223 and reference recall number 2026 SRC 02 for more information.

Why This Matters

For fleets running electric yard trucks, even a small component issue can impact safety and workflow. Staying on top of recalls like this helps prevent downtime and keeps both drivers and equipment protected on the job.

Brake systems on today’s trucks are no longer just air lines and chambers. With collision mitigation, electronic braking, and stability systems becoming standard, understanding how those systems work is increasingly important for drivers who want fewer breakdowns, safer trucks, and less downtime.

That’s the backdrop for Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems’ expanding its 2026 Brake School schedule, offering more in-person and advanced technical training sessions across the country.

In total, Bendix will host 23 in-person classes across 11 states, along with two virtual options, running from March through November. The sessions are designed for fleet technicians, owner-operators, and maintenance professionals, but the topics directly affect anyone behind the wheel who depends on reliable braking performance.

Why This Training Matters to Drivers

Modern braking systems tie directly into safety technology that drivers rely on every day. When those systems are not properly serviced or diagnosed, it can lead to performance issues, warning lights, or unexpected behavior on the road.

Bendix says growing system complexity is exactly why it is expanding access to training.

“Technical education is more important than ever. At Bendix, we hear this time and again in conversations with fleets across North America,” said Nicole Oreskovic, Bendix vice president of sales and marketing. “Technicians operate in a fast-changing commercial vehicle environment, where safety components advance rapidly. The pressure is intense for carriers to maintain overall safety, performance, and uptime – while striving to lower their total cost of ownership.”

For drivers, that translates to better-maintained equipment, fewer roadside issues, and shops that understand the technology on newer trucks.

Air Brake Training Remains the Foundation

The backbone of the 2026 schedule is Bendix’s three-day Air Brake Training course, with 16 sessions planned nationwide. The first class runs March 31 through April 2 in Fresno, California.

This course focuses on the fundamentals that every truck depends on, including how dual air brake systems operate, how components interact, and how failures are diagnosed and repaired.

Classroom topics include compressed air fundamentals, air system failure mode diagnosis, and foundation brake components such as compressors, valves, drum brakes, and air disc brakes. The training also introduces Bendix’s Global Scalable Brake Control electronic braking system and Global Scalable Air Treatment technologies.

Bendix recommends participants complete its online air brake training before attending an in-person class.

Advanced Technology Training Expands for 2026

As driver assistance systems become more common, Bendix is also expanding its two-day Advanced Technology Training program, offering seven sessions in 2026.

Three sessions will be held at the company’s headquarters in Avon, Ohio. Two will take place in Reno, Nevada, and two in Fairfield, Connecticut. The first advanced session begins April 14- 15 in Avon.

This course builds on the air brake foundation and focuses on how advanced safety systems operate and are diagnosed. Topics include antilock braking systems, Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program, Bendix Wingman Advanced collision mitigation, Bendix Fusion driver assistance systems, lane departure warning systems, tire pressure monitoring systems, and electronic braking and air treatment systems.

Hands-on instruction covers air disc brake maintenance and electrical diagnostics tied to these systems.

“The increase in technological advances in braking and stability makes this training a must for the advanced technician,” said Brian Screeton, Bendix manager of technical training and service. “As safety advances continue, technicians are only going to see more of these systems and components.”

Screeton added that at least one major North American OEM requires technicians pursuing master certification for its brake systems to complete both the two-day and three-day Bendix programs.

Virtual Classes and Testing Options

For those unable to attend in person, Bendix will offer two three-day virtual classes in 2026. One session will follow Eastern Time and the other Mountain Time to accommodate attendees across North America.

In-person classes include hands-on training using Bendix air system boards, including a working Bendix Fusion system that demonstrates collision mitigation and full air brake system operation.

At the end of both in-person and virtual courses, participants may take an optional written exam. Those who pass receive a Tested and Passed certificate, while others receive a certificate of completion. Bendix training is not affiliated with U.S. Department of Transportation certification and does not certify technicians for work on its systems.

Cost and Registration

Pricing for 2026 training is $525 per person for the three-day Air Brake Training course, $475 for the two-day Advanced Technology Training class, and $425 for the virtual program. Class sizes are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration is available through bendix.com, B2Bendix.com, or by calling 1-800-AIR-BRAKE.

If you’re running a newer Volvo VNL, you’ll want to check this before your next stop.

Volvo Trucks North America has issued a recall on nearly 1,000 trucks after identifying a parking brake issue that could increase the risk of a rollaway.

Which Trucks Are Affected

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall covers about 800 model year 2024–27 Volvo VNL trucks. These trucks share several specific characteristics:

6×4 axle configurations

Electronic suspension systems

No auxiliary parking brakes installed

If your VNL matches that setup, it may be subject to this recall.

Why the Parking Brake May Not Hold

A recall acknowledgement document explains that when an affected truck is placed in “weight bias mode,” there may not be enough weight on the axle that carries the parking brake. When that happens, braking force can be reduced.

That lack of holding power creates a rollaway risk, especially when parked on uneven ground or grades.

There are no warning indicators for this condition. Volvo Trucks has stated that all 800 trucks included in the recall are affected.

No Crashes or Injuries Reported

So far, there have been:

No warranty claims

No field reports

No accidents

No injuries

The issue was first brought to Volvo’s attention last November after a truck roll incident. Following three safety evaluation committee reviews, the company determined in February that a product safety defect exists.

What Volvo Will Do to Fix It

Volvo Trucks will correct the issue by replacing the brake chambers on affected trucks with versions that include auxiliary parking brakes.

Repairs will be completed at no cost to owners

Notification letters will be mailed in April

If you operate one of these trucks, this is not something you’ll want to put off once your notice arrives.

Who to Contact

For more information, drivers and fleet owners can contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2601.

NHTSA’s recall number is 26V076.

Not Related to Another Parking Brake Recall

Volvo emphasized that this recall is not connected to a separate parking brake issue announced last year involving another manufacturer.

International previously recalled more than 11,000 model year 2023–26 LT and RH trucks. In that case, the problem involved an auto neutral function that may not recognize when the parking brake is applied.

As explained previously:

“The auto neutral function on some International trucks may not know that the parking brake has been applied. Consequently, the transmission may not shift into neutral. If the transmission remains in gear, the truck may move unexpectedly.”

What Drivers Should Do Now

If you run a Volvo VNL from the affected model years, keep an eye on your mail and be mindful of parking conditions until the repair is completed. Parking brake performance is not something you want to assume is working exactly as intended.

This recall is a reminder that even newer equipment can have hidden issues that only show up under specific operating modes.

Keeping trucks on the road depends just as much on the shop as it does on the driver’s seat. That reality was front and center as Peterbilt Technician Institute reached a major milestone with the graduation of its 150th class.

Based at its Irving, Texas campus, the program has steadily built a pipeline of trained technicians to support Peterbilt dealers and fleets across North America. The latest graduating class represents years of ongoing investment in technician education at a time when the industry continues to face a critical skills shortage.

“Reaching our 150th graduating class is more than a milestone; it highlights our steady support in preparing the next generation of qualified service technicians,” said Danny Landholm, Peterbilt director of dealer network development. “Our graduates are trained not only to service and maintain today’s most sophisticated trucks but also to adapt as technology evolves.”

Supporting the Trucks Drivers Rely On

For drivers and fleet operators, the quality of maintenance behind the scenes directly affects uptime, safety, and operating costs. PTI was created specifically to address the growing need for technicians who understand modern trucks and the technologies built into them.

Since its launch, the institute has focused on producing technicians who are ready to step into dealership service bays with hands-on experience rather than just textbook knowledge. The program has grown into one of the leading diesel technology training pathways tied directly to a major OEM dealer network.

The milestone reached in Texas reflects more than just the number of classes completed. It highlights Peterbilt’s long-term commitment to supporting its dealer network with technicians capable of working on increasingly complex vehicles.

Training Built for Today’s Equipment

PTI’s curriculum blends classroom instruction with real-world application. Students train on current Peterbilt equipment while earning factory-level certifications designed to match what they will see on the job.

According to PTI, instruction covers advanced systems that are becoming standard across fleets, including alternative fuel platforms, electric powertrain diagnostics, and telematics technology. This approach helps ensure graduates are prepared for both today’s trucks and the changes already coming to the industry.

“Upon completing the program, students earn factory-trained technician credentials that can help fast-track their careers at more than 430 Peterbilt dealerships across the United States and Canada,” PTI said.

A Direct Pipeline Into the Industry

For industry stakeholders, the value of programs like PTI extends beyond individual graduates. Each class helps stabilize dealership service operations and supports fleet reliability nationwide. For drivers, it means better-trained technicians maintaining the equipment they depend on every day.

As trucking technology continues to advance, the need for skilled technicians who can diagnose, repair, and adapt will only increase. The graduation of PTI’s 150th class signals both how far the program has come and how critical technician development remains to the future of trucking.

Those interested in learning more about the Peterbilt Technician Institute and its training opportunities can find additional details through PTI here.

Konik Heavy Duty Products has introduced a new Quick Install Mud Flap Bracket designed to restore vehicle roadworthiness quickly without welding or drilling.

The galvanized bracket is intended as a field service solution for situations where damaged mud flaps create compliance issues and delay equipment from returning to service. Using a clamp-style design, the bracket mounts directly to I-beam crossmembers and can be installed with standard hand tools.

According to the company, the design allows repairs to be completed in minutes using two 9 16 inch wrenches, eliminating the need for shop equipment or permanent chassis modifications.

Engineered for Field Conditions

Traditional mud flap brackets often require drilling or welding, which can create delays when repairs are needed away from a maintenance facility. Konik’s bracket instead uses a spring tab clamping system that maintains tension once installed.

Key design features include a heavy-duty build formed from grade 50 steel, hot dip galvanizing for corrosion resistance, and a low profile that avoids interference with winch tracks and other trailer equipment. The bracket also includes a backer plate designed to help distribute load and reduce the risk of mud flap tearing.

The company said the bracket was engineered specifically to address roadside repair challenges where speed and simplicity are critical.

Reducing Compliance Delays

Mud flap damage is a common result of tire failures and can quickly lead to DOT compliance issues if not addressed promptly. Konik positions the Quick Install Mud Flap Bracket as a practical option for avoiding citations and extended downtime when repairs are needed in the field.

“Our goal was to make the fix easy,” said Thom Davis, Product Line Manager at Konik. “Technicians can install it in minutes using standard hand tools and get equipment back on the road quickly.”

Konik noted that keeping a fast install solution available can help reduce maintenance bottlenecks and prevent small equipment issues from escalating into larger operational delays.

International Motors

International is recalling certain 2023 through 2026 LT and RH models. The problem centers on the auto neutral function, which may not detect that the parking brake is engaged. If that happens, the transmission may fail to shift into neutral.
This recall affects 11,418 trucks.

Remedy
Dealers will replace the quick-release valve on the rear axle at no cost. Notification letters are scheduled to go out on January 19, 2026. Owners can reach International customer service at 1 800 448 7825. International lists this recall under number 25524. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved are searchable here.

This follows an earlier November 25 recall that also involved LT and RH units.

Mack Trucks

Mack is recalling certain 2025 and 2026 Pioneer models due to load lock clamps on the back of the cab that can loosen and cause the load lock bars to become unsecured.
This recall affects 46 trucks.

Remedy
Dealers will replace the load lock clamps at no cost. Notification letters are planned for January 15, 2026. Owners can reach Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack lists this recall under number SC0489. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved are searchable here.

Mack is also recalling 2026 Anthem units and 2025 through 2026 Pioneer vehicles for an issue with the automatic high beam system. The AHB may fail to switch to low beams as required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108.
This recall impacts 247 units.

Remedy
As an interim fix, Mack will push a software update over the air to disable the AHB. The final repair is still being developed. Interim letters are expected January 17, 2026, with additional notices once the full solution is ready. Owners may contact the same Mack customer service line. Mack lists this recall under number SC0488. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved are searchable here.

Volvo Trucks

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2024 through 2026 VNL models due to the same load lock clamp issue reported in the Mack Pioneer recall. The clamps may loosen and allow the bars to become unsecured.
This recall affects 1,859 vehicles.

Remedy
Dealers will replace the clamps at no cost. Notification letters are planned for January 15, 2026. Owners can contact Volvo customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo lists this recall under number RVXX2512. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved are searchable here.

Volvo is also recalling certain 2026 VNR and 2024 through 2026 VNL trucks for automatic high beams that may not switch to low beams as required under FMVSS 108.
This recall affects 4,887 trucks.

Remedy
Volvo will roll out an over-the-air update to disable the AHB feature until a permanent repair is available. Interim letters will be mailed on January 17, 2026, with follow-up notices to come. Volvo lists this recall under number RVXX2511. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved are searchable here.

The Pacific Northwest offers diverse opportunities for trucking owner-operators, with certain cities known for consistently delivering the highest earnings. For truckers owning and operating their rigs, targeting these key hubs can maximize income potential while benefiting from strong regional freight demand and strategic locations.

Top Earning Cities in the Pacific Northwest

Seattle, WA, leads as the top-paying city for truck drivers in the region, with average annual salaries around $56,891 and top earners reaching up to $75,107. Surrounding cities like Bellevue, Renton, Everett, and Tacoma also offer competitive pay in the mid-$50,000 range. Other notable cities include Bremerton, Federal Way, Auburn, Lakewood, and Kent, each providing solid trucking wages thanks to active freight corridors and proximity to port facilities.

Why These Cities Pay More

Seattle’s major port operations and dense urban industries drive freight volumes that support higher rates for owner-operators. The region’s higher cost of living also leads to wages adjusting upward to attract experienced drivers, while busy trade routes connect local routes with national and international shipping lanes. These factors combine to create a competitive trucking job market that prioritizes skilled owner-operators.

How Owner-Operators Can Maximize Earnings

Specializing in freight types like refrigerated goods, construction materials, or time-sensitive local deliveries can give owner-operators an edge. Understanding regional regulations, including Washington state’s fuel taxes and emissions standards, is crucial to avoiding costly penalties. Building relationships with reliable freight brokers and carriers can create consistent load opportunities and reduce deadhead miles.

Maintain Your Investment for Peak Performance

Regular maintenance suited to the variable climate and terrain of the Pacific Northwest helps avoid breakdowns and keeps owner-operators on the road. Knowledge of logistics hubs and weigh stations in cities like Seattle and Tacoma enables smoother route planning and compliance, saving valuable time and resources.

The Pacific Northwest’s top-paying cities offer truck owner-operators strong earning potential, but success takes more than just location. Those who focus on specialized freight, stay up to date with local rules, and nurture solid broker partnerships unlock opportunities for higher, steadier income. Treat your truck as a business asset through smart planning and local expertise—this approach puts you in the best position to thrive in a competitive marketplace.

Tracking market changes and adapting your routes and strategies regularly helps maximize pay. In this regional economy, informed decisions and efficient operations distinguish the most successful owner-operators.
