If you’re running a newer Volvo VNL, you’ll want to check this before your next stop.

Volvo Trucks North America has issued a recall on nearly 1,000 trucks after identifying a parking brake issue that could increase the risk of a rollaway.

Which Trucks Are Affected

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall covers about 800 model year 2024–27 Volvo VNL trucks. These trucks share several specific characteristics:

6×4 axle configurations

Electronic suspension systems

No auxiliary parking brakes installed

If your VNL matches that setup, it may be subject to this recall.

Why the Parking Brake May Not Hold

A recall acknowledgement document explains that when an affected truck is placed in “weight bias mode,” there may not be enough weight on the axle that carries the parking brake. When that happens, braking force can be reduced.

That lack of holding power creates a rollaway risk, especially when parked on uneven ground or grades.

There are no warning indicators for this condition. Volvo Trucks has stated that all 800 trucks included in the recall are affected.

No Crashes or Injuries Reported

So far, there have been:

No warranty claims

No field reports

No accidents

No injuries

The issue was first brought to Volvo’s attention last November after a truck roll incident. Following three safety evaluation committee reviews, the company determined in February that a product safety defect exists.

What Volvo Will Do to Fix It

Volvo Trucks will correct the issue by replacing the brake chambers on affected trucks with versions that include auxiliary parking brakes.

Repairs will be completed at no cost to owners

Notification letters will be mailed in April

If you operate one of these trucks, this is not something you’ll want to put off once your notice arrives.

Who to Contact

For more information, drivers and fleet owners can contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2601.

NHTSA’s recall number is 26V076.

Not Related to Another Parking Brake Recall

Volvo emphasized that this recall is not connected to a separate parking brake issue announced last year involving another manufacturer.

International previously recalled more than 11,000 model year 2023–26 LT and RH trucks. In that case, the problem involved an auto neutral function that may not recognize when the parking brake is applied.

As explained previously:

“The auto neutral function on some International trucks may not know that the parking brake has been applied. Consequently, the transmission may not shift into neutral. If the transmission remains in gear, the truck may move unexpectedly.”

What Drivers Should Do Now

If you run a Volvo VNL from the affected model years, keep an eye on your mail and be mindful of parking conditions until the repair is completed. Parking brake performance is not something you want to assume is working exactly as intended.

This recall is a reminder that even newer equipment can have hidden issues that only show up under specific operating modes.

If you’re driving a Peterbilt or International truck, pay close attention. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reporting that PACCAR and International are recalling more than 1,300 trucks due to safety issues that could affect your brakes.

PACCAR Recall

PACCAR is recalling some 2026 Peterbilt 567 and 589 trucks because the air tanks don’t hold enough air for the brakes. That means these trucks don’t meet the federal safety standard for air brakes. Only 62 trucks are affected, but if you drive one of them, it’s important to get it fixed.

Dealers will replace the tanks with the right ones at no cost. Letters to owners are expected to go out on January 16, 2026. You can also call Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220. The PACCAR recall number is 25PACH.

International Recall

International is recalling certain 2023-2026 LT trucks and 2024-2025 RH trucks. The problem is with the Hill Start Assist system. If the exhaust port gets clogged, it could delay or stop the service brakes from releasing, which is dangerous.

This recall covers 1,303 trucks. Dealers will relocate the HSA valve exhaust free of charge. Letters were mailed on January 12, 2026. For questions, call International at 1-800-448-7825. The recall number is 25522.

What This Means for Drivers

If you drive one of these trucks, check your VIN and set up a repair appointment as soon as possible. Both PACCAR and International are handling the repairs at no cost, but waiting could put you and your load at risk. Staying on top of recalls keeps you safe on the road and helps make sure your deliveries stay on schedule.

If you run Western Star, Freightliner, or stepdeck equipment in your operation, there’s a new recall you’ll want on your radar. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a large-scale recall that affects over 19,000 trucks and trailers from Daimler Trucks North America and Wabash National. The issues vary, but both recalls involve safety-critical components that every driver and fleet should take seriously.

What Daimler Owners Need to Know

Daimler Trucks North America has issued a recall covering several Western Star and Freightliner models, including the Western Star 49X, 47X, 48X, 4700, and a range of Freightliner vocational trucks such as the Business Class M2, 114SD, 108SD, and 122SD.

The concern centers around axle clamp fasteners that may come loose. If that happens, the truck can become difficult to control, especially under load or at highway speeds. In total, 18,783 trucks fall under this recall.

Daimler is still finalizing the repair plan, and drivers can expect official notification letters to start going out on January 3, 2026. Anyone needing more information can reach DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 using recall number F1027.

Wabash Stepdeck Trailers Also Affected

Wabash National has issued its own recall that affects its 2025–2026 stepdeck trailers. In some units, the rear impact guard installed on the trailer isn’t the correct one and doesn’t meet the federal safety standards for Rear Impact Guards (FMVSS 223) and Rear Impact Protection (FMVSS 224).

The first recall impacts 295 trailers, and Wabash will swap out the rear impact guard at no cost to the owner. Notifications for this round are scheduled to begin on December 4.

A second recall covers 158 additional stepdeck trailers with the same guard issue, and repair notices for that group will start going out January 5, 2026. For either recall, owners can contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404.

What Drivers Should Do Now

If you’re hauling with any of the listed trucks or stepdecks, keep an eye on your mail for the official notices. If you check your VIN and find your equipment listed, get in touch with the manufacturer as soon as possible. Loose axle fasteners or improper rear impact guards can turn into dangerous problems fast, especially for long-haul and heavy-haul work.

Staying ahead of recalls keeps you safe, keeps your equipment compliant, and helps prevent breakdowns that cost time and money on the road.

Truck drivers know that even a small electrical issue can turn into a major safety problem out on the road. That’s why new recall notices from Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America are drawing attention across the industry. Together, the recalls cover nearly 12,000 trucks affected by lighting malfunctions that could impact visibility and compliance.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), both manufacturers have reported specific lighting failures that may lead to safety risks.

Mack Recall: Headlight Malfunction on Granite Models

Mack Trucks is recalling 2024–2025 Granite models equipped with LED headlights after finding that the lights may fail over time. The recall impacts 8,857 trucks, and dealers will replace the headlights at no charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 2, 2026. Drivers can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 or check their VIN on NHTSA.gov. The recall reference number is SC0485.

Volvo Recall: Roof Marker Light Issue on New VN Models

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2025–2026 New VN trucks due to roof center marker lights that may fail to illuminate. This issue means affected vehicles do not meet federal lighting standards under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

A total of 3,124 trucks are affected. Dealers will replace the roof marker light free of charge, and owner notification letters are also expected to be mailed January 2, 2026.

Drivers can contact Volvo customer service at 800-528-6586 for details. The recall number for this issue is RVXX2509, and VINs can be verified at NHTSA.gov.

What Drivers Should Know

If you’re driving one of these Mack Granite or Volvo New VN models, it’s worth checking your VIN right away. Lighting issues aren’t just about visibility, they can lead to inspection violations and downtime if not addressed quickly.

Both manufacturers are covering all repair costs through authorized dealers once the recall service begins.

Stay Ahead of Safety Notices

Staying informed about recalls helps prevent unexpected breakdowns and compliance issues. Regularly checking your VIN through NHTSA.gov ensures you catch updates early and keep your rig in safe working order. Keeping up with recall alerts is one of the best ways to protect your truck, your schedule, and your safety on the road.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued recall notices for various big rig models, impacting brands such as Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Mercedes-Benz, and Hino. These recalls address critical safety concerns that could pose risks to drivers and others on the road.

Affected Models and Issues

The affected vehicles include the following makes and models:

Kenworth Trucks: Models such as the 2025 T180, 2025-2026 T280, 2023-2026 T380, and 2024-2026 T480 have been recalled due to potential exterior light switch failures.

Peterbilt Trucks: The 2025 Peterbilt 535 and the 2024-2026 Peterbilt 536, 537, 548, and 567 are also experiencing similar light switch issues.

Freightliner Electric Rigs: The Freightliner E-Cascadia and EM2 models are being flagged for a significant issue regarding a potential loss of drive power.

Volvo Electric Trucks: Certain 2023-2025 Volvo VNRE electric trucks have been recalled due to a defect where the battery could short-circuit, leading to a possible fire risk.

Hino Trucks: Models NH7A, NJ7A, NJ7B, NJ7C, NV7A, NV7B, and NV7C spanning years 2022-2025 are being recalled for a damaged front right air brake tube, which could cause a leak.

Manufacturer Requirements for Recalls

According to the NHTSA, when a vehicle is deemed unsafe or fails to comply with federal safety standards, manufacturers must resolve the issue at no cost to the owner. The solutions might include a repair, replacement, refund (for certain equipment), or even a buyback in very rare cases.

Officials strongly urge vehicle owners to address these defects promptly due to the potential dangers posed by unresolved safety issues.

What Vehicle Owners Need to Know

Owners of the affected models should receive a formal notification from the manufacturer via mail. The letter will provide crucial information, including the following details:

Explanation of the issue and its risks

Availability of the remedy

How and where to schedule a repair

Reminder that repairs will be performed free of charge
