Interstate 5 is a central route for countless truck drivers navigating Oregon. Along this busy highway, knowing where to stop with reliable parking, quality food, and adequate rest facilities can make all the difference. The following truck stops deliver amenities professional drivers need to stay refreshed, safe, and ready for long hauls.

Drivers enjoy spotless showers stocked with large towels, and a deli featuring hearty meals like teriyaki bowls and classic meatballs with mashed potatoes. The stop includes amenities rarely found elsewhere, such as a barbershop, laundry services, and a cozy movie lounge. Free Wi-Fi keeps drivers connected, while a full-service garage handles oil changes and tire repairs. Pet owners will find well-maintained wash stations and pet relief areas, making Jubitz a top choice for long-distance haulers.

Seven Feathers Truck & Travel Center at Canyonville

This stop provides prepaid parking, ensuring secure spots during busy hours. Its clean shower facilities and inviting driver’s lounge offer a much-needed respite. The deli serves fresh sandwiches and coffee, while guests can relax at the nearby Seven Feathers Casino. Drivers consistently praise the friendly staff and clean facilities.

Harris Ranch Express near the Oregon Border

Although just south of Oregon, Harris Ranch is often the first stop for drivers heading north on I-5. It features clean restrooms, generous parking, quality food courts, and charging stations for electric vehicles, an important amenity as electric trucking expands. A spacious picnic area offers a comfortable outdoor break spot.

What Makes a Truck Stop Worth Your Time?

Drivers rely on these facilities to provide:

Safe, ample parking with reservation possibilities.

Sanitary showers and rest areas to reduce fatigue.

Nutritious food options suitable for busy schedules.

Mechanical services to minimize roadside disruptions.

Amenities like free Wi-Fi and driver lounges lend comfort.

Pet-friendly areas for traveling companions.

Truck stops along Oregon’s I-5 provide more than just a quick break. They give you a chance to get clean, eat something good, and keep your truck in shape, all without wasting time. Being able to stop at places that cover these basics helps you stay ready for the next part of the drive. When you pull over, you want to be sure you can get what you need and get back on the road without delays.

When you’re logging long miles on America’s highways, the quality of a truck stop or rest area can make all the difference. A recent study from altLINE, an Alabama-based finance company, sheds light on which states, cities, and major truck stop chains give drivers the best experiences and which fall flat.

How the Study Was Done

AltLINE dug through nearly 100,000 Google Maps reviews from truck stops and rest areas across the country. By mapping ratings and breaking them down by state, town, and operator, the analysis created a clear picture of where drivers can expect the smoothest stops on their routes.

States That Stand Out

At the state level, Vermont came out on top with an impressive 4.50 average star rating. Hawaii wasn’t far behind with 4.45 stars, followed by Iowa (4.29), Alaska (4.28), and New Hampshire (4.26).

On the other end, New Jersey offered the least loved rest stops, averaging only 3.86 stars. Colorado (3.93) and Massachusetts (3.97) also slipped below the national average rating of 4.17.

Customer Service Makes the Difference

To see how service shaped reviews, altLINE analyzed keywords in user feedback. The findings were clear: bad service drags down ratings everywhere.

In Delaware and Florida, service-related reviews averaged more than a full star lower than each state’s baseline. Massachusetts, however, stood out as its service scores nearly matched overall ratings, showing consistency between facilities and customer experience.

Best Towns and Cities for Rest Stops

The small town of Waynesville, North Carolina, was crowned the country’s hotspot for well-rated rest areas. Drivers gave its cluster of stops an average 4.7 rating across more than 7,000 reviews, making it the unofficial capital of quality rest stops in the U.S.

Which Chain Truck Stops Come Out Ahead?

Most drivers are familiar with the “big four” corporate rest stop operators: Petro, Love’s, Pilot Flying J, and TravelCenters of America (TA).

Based on reviews, Petro ranks highest with a 3.88-star average. But even then, that falls short of the 4.17 national average, meaning only one in three Petro locations rises above the overall benchmark.

Love’s comes next at 3.86, followed by Pilot Flying J at 3.75. At the bottom sits TA, averaging just 3.66 stars, with only 13% of its locations scoring above the national average.

Top Stops Along the Busiest Routes

America’s freight network runs heavily on the I-10, I-80, and I-95, three of the busiest trucking corridors. AltLINE highlighted a few standout rest areas along these routes:

I-10: Official Florida Welcome Center – 4.7 stars

I-80: Salt Flats Rest Area in Utah – 4.6 stars

I-95: Georgia Welcome Center – 4.6 stars

Interestingly, none of these high-scoring facilities are run by the big corporate chains, showing that independent or state-managed stops can often deliver the best experience.

Why It Matters

For truck drivers and road travelers alike, a good rest stop isn’t just about convenience; it’s about safety, comfort, and the ability to recharge before hitting the road again. Studies like this confirm what many drivers already know: location, service, and management can make or break the experience of life on the road.

Life on the road can be demanding, and sometimes it’s the little comforts that make all the difference. For many truck drivers, finding a unique truck stop or a small-town diner can turn an ordinary day into something memorable. Flat tires, long lines, and generic fast food are common enough—these hidden stops, though, remind us that great service, real food, and genuine hospitality are still out there if you know where to look.

Why It’s Worth Exploring the Less-Traveled Truck Stops

The big travel plazas have their place, but occasionally, venturing off the beaten path brings unexpected rewards:

Home-cooked meals that are actually homemade

Friendly staff who treat drivers like family

Cleaner facilities that never feel crowded

Memories of meals and interactions you just don’t experience at major chains

America’s Undiscovered Truck Stop Favorites

Keystone Restaurant & Truck Stop – Loretto, Pennsylvania

Drivers love Keystone for its welcoming diner atmosphere, hearty classics, and reliable cleanliness. There’s a deli for snacks and a convenience store for forgotten essentials, making this spot perfect whether you’re pausing for coffee or a full meal.

Waynesville Truck Plaza – Waynesville, North Carolina

Located in the scenic mountains, Waynesville’s local roast coffee and comfort food from the Haywood 209 Restaurant keep drivers coming back. Drivers talk up the peaceful surroundings and genuine hospitality, which are perfect for a well-earned break.

Busy Bee – Jasper, Florida

Small but consistently full of life, Busy Bee offers quick, cheerful service. Their reputation for homemade fudge and exceptionally clean restrooms means even a short visit feels special. It’s a favorite stop for truckers on I-75 looking to recharge.

Big Horn Travel Center – Fort Worth, Texas

Big Horn stands out for spotless facilities, a display of local wildlife, and plenty of convenient add-ons like air and water. With a bustling food court and accommodating staff, it’s a comforting stop for drivers passing through Texas.

Circle C Travel Plaza – Walterboro, South Carolina

The highlight here is Necee’s Restaurant, serving a classic Southern buffet in a friendly, laid-back setting. Plenty of parking and a regular crowd of truckers make it a reliable spot on I-95.

A & A Truck Stop – Jackson, Ohio

Locals and drivers alike appreciate A & A’s honest food and fair prices. Friendly staff and a no-frills vibe help make each visit feel a little like coming home.

Tiffin River Service Plaza – West Unity, Ohio

Drivers searching for a relaxed stop with quality amenities consistently rate Tiffin River as one of the best. The lounge, games, and convenient dining make longer breaks more enjoyable.

South of the Border – Hamer, South Carolina

With a playful roadside attraction feel, South of the Border is anything but ordinary. Around-the-clock dining, quirky shops, and colorful neon make it a stop worth taking, even if just to brighten your day.

Noble’s Restaurant and Truck Stop – Corinth, Kentucky

Looking for authentic, home-style dishes at a fair price? Noble’s serves up classic favorites in a laid-back setting, making it popular with regulars and visitors alike.

Dysart’s Truck Stop – Hermon, Maine

Dysart’s is a legendary stop in the Northeast, especially known for fresh pies and generous meals. The family-run vibe and ample parking keep truckers coming back trip after trip.

Tips for Discovering More Great Spots

To truly make the most of your drives, try a few new strategies:

Check out trucker forums and apps where drivers share reviews and honest feedback.

Give independent diners and cafés attached to smaller stops a try—they’re often less crowded and more personal.

Ask fellow drivers for their must-stop spots when you’re swapping stories at a rest area or fuel island.

There’s a special kind of joy in finding a truck stop or diner that gets it right. Whether it’s the food, the people, or the small comforts that make your job easier, those hidden gems can make the miles roll by a little bit sweeter. Next time you’re planning your route, consider one of these under-the-radar favorites. Who knows—you might just add a new story to your journey.

“The best of the best truck stops earn that recognition from their customers,” said Chris Oliver, CMO at Trucker Path. “This well-deserved accomplishment means that the 2025 winners stood out for their range of offerings and their dedication to customer service among the more than 9,000 truck stops and about 10,000 additional fueling locations on the Trucker Path app. We are pleased to showcase the nation’s top facilities for truck drivers as part of our mission to help make truckers’ lives on the road easier and more comfortable.”

And the Winner Is…

This year’s top stop is the Tiffin River Service Plaza in West Unity, Ohio. Located at Milepost 20.8 Eastbound on the Ohio Turnpike, it offers amenities that truckers value, including a Truckers Lounge, a 110-space parking lot, separate restrooms with complimentary showers, coin-operated laundry facilities, a food court, a convenience store, and even Ohio Lottery gaming terminals. The facility accepts a variety of fuel and fleet cards, making it a convenient and welcoming choice for professional drivers.

“Every day of the year, 24 hours a day, the Ohio Turnpike’s service plazas are open to give truck drivers the best possible experience on the road,” said Ferzan M. Ahmed, P.E., executive director of the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission. “We are proud that the Tiffin River location has been recognized by drivers as the number one location in the nation for safe, clean facilities and services that truckers value.”
