Heart disease and stroke remain two of the biggest health threats facing Americans, including those who spend long hours behind the wheel. This year, Pilot is once again using its nationwide network of travel centers to support heart health research, education, and prevention through its annual Heart Month campaign.

Running from Jan. 30 through Feb. 22, the 2026 initiative encourages professional drivers and everyday travelers to turn routine fuel and food stops into direct support for organizations working to reduce heart disease and stroke across the U.S. and Canada.

A One Million Dollar Goal with Nearly a Decade of Impact

Pilot’s goal for the 2026 Heart Month campaign is to raise one million dollars, adding to nearly ten million dollars already raised over nine years in partnership with the American Heart Association and Heart & Stroke.

Funds raised support heart health education, medical research, and community programs aimed at prevention and early intervention, areas that are especially important for truck drivers who often face long periods of sedentary time, irregular sleep, and limited access to routine care.

A Personal Message from a Stroke Survivor

One of the strongest voices behind the campaign comes from inside Pilot’s own leadership team.

“Heart disease and stroke affect millions of lives every year, including my own,” said Julius Cox, executive vice president, chief people and administrative officer at Pilot, and stroke survivor. “After overcoming my experience, I became even more committed to taking care of my personal health and encouraging others to do the same. Every dollar raised during the campaign helps fund groundbreaking research and equips communities with life-saving tools and education they need to keep more hearts beating.”

For drivers, Cox’s message underscores a reality many in the industry know firsthand. Heart health is not an abstract issue. It directly affects careers, families, and life on the road.

Simple Ways Drivers Can Participate on the Road

Truck drivers stopping at Pilot, Flying J, or One9 locations can support Heart Month in a few quick, practical ways that fit naturally into a workday.

In-store options include

Purchasing a one-dollar, three-dollar, or five-dollar paper heart at U.S. locations

Rounding up in-store purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout

In the U.S., 100% of proceeds benefit the American Heart Association’s Life is Why campaign. In Canada, round-up donations benefit Heart and Stroke.

Mobile app option

Drivers can now donate one dollar, three dollars, or five dollars directly through the Pilot app when placing a mobile order, making participation possible even during tight schedules.

A Thank You Designed for Drivers

To show appreciation, Pilot is offering a practical reward drivers can actually use.

Drivers who join the Heart Month Challenge in the Pilot app and purchase a paper heart in store will receive an offer for a free small hot coffee on their next visit, subject to program terms.

Why Pilot Says Heart Health Fits Its Core Purpose

Pilot leadership says the campaign reflects more than fundraising. It aligns with how the company sees its role in the transportation industry.

“At Pilot, our purpose is to show people they matter at every turn and supporting heart health is one of the most meaningful ways we can live out that purpose,” said Adrienne Ingoldt, senior vice president, communications, risk and procurement at Pilot and member of the American Heart Association’s National Life is Why Council of Retailers. “We are grateful for our team members and the millions of guests who choose to support Heart Month. We want everyone to live longer, healthier lives through education, a healthy diet, physical activity, and regular medical screenings.”

Support for Pilot Team Members and the Broader Community

In addition to customer fundraising, Pilot is providing its own team members with hands-only CPR training, blood pressure resources, and heart health education developed by the Heart Association. These resources are also available to the public through local Heart Association offices.

The campaign is funded through Pilot’s Miles of Good giving program, which supports charitable initiatives connected to community health and well-being.

Why This Matters for Truck Drivers

For professional drivers, Heart Month is a reminder that small actions, both personal and collective, add up. Whether it is monitoring blood pressure, taking advantage of health screenings, or rounding up a purchase at checkout, these steps help strengthen the safety net for drivers, families, and communities that rely on the trucking industry every day.

Additional campaign details are available here, while heart health resources can be found at heart.org and heartandstroke.ca.

Truck drivers across Tennessee have a new reason to look forward to their pit stops. Legendary country singer and entrepreneur Dolly Parton has partnered with the Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, to launch what will be known as Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop. The first location, just off Interstate 65 at Exit 22, is set to open next summer, with plans for more travel centers across the state and beyond.

“I have spent the bulk of my life on the road, and more specifically on a bus,” said Dolly Parton. “All the years spent visiting greasy spoon cafes, truck stops, and roadside pit stops have given me an understanding of what travelers desire on the road. Whether you are driving a truck, a bus, or a car, you want a place that feels like home and recharges you for the rest of your journey. I believe we will fill a void out there on the highways, all while bringing the heart and soul of Tennessee.”

The Tennessee Travel Stop has been a favorite among truckers since it opened in 1974 and was rebuilt after a fire in 2021. The travel stop offers more than 100 truck parking spots, showers, a driver’s lounge, laundry facilities, a dog park, and a variety of dining options. What sets it apart is its combination of amenities with a lively atmosphere, including live music and a bar.

“The Tennessean has long been a ‘home away from home’ for truck drivers, travelers, and locals alike. Our roots in this community run deep. We’ve created jobs, built connections, and welcomed generations of people through our doors,” said Gregory H. Sachs, chairman and CEO of the Tennessean Travel Stop and Sachs Capital Group. “This new partnership allows us to carry that legacy forward in a way that celebrates everything special about Tennessee. Together with Dolly and her team, we’re reimagining what a travel stop can be, transforming it into a warm, inviting destination where everyone feels welcome to slow down, kick up their feet, and stay awhile.”

The travel center will remain open during renovations and is set to introduce a modern travel experience that blends upgraded amenities, curated dining, and regional retail.

“Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops will be more than a place to refuel. It’s about recharging the spirit,” said Danny Nozell, CEO of CTK Enterprises and long-time manager of Parton. “This project reflects Dolly’s love for her home state and her commitment to supporting local business, community, and the travelers who keep America moving.”

With this partnership, truckers can expect more than just a standard pit stop. From clean, ample parking to food, showers, and entertainment, Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop aims to combine comfort, convenience, and a little Tennessee charm for everyone on the road.

Interstate 5 is a central route for countless truck drivers navigating Oregon. Along this busy highway, knowing where to stop with reliable parking, quality food, and adequate rest facilities can make all the difference. The following truck stops deliver amenities professional drivers need to stay refreshed, safe, and ready for long hauls.

Jubitz Truck Stop near Portland

Jubitz offers extensive parking with more than 250 truck spots, including reserved spaces. Drivers enjoy spotless showers stocked with large towels, and a deli featuring hearty meals like teriyaki bowls and classic meatballs with mashed potatoes. The stop includes amenities rarely found elsewhere, such as a barbershop, laundry services, and a cozy movie lounge. Free Wi-Fi keeps drivers connected, while a full-service garage handles oil changes and tire repairs. Pet owners will find well-maintained wash stations and pet relief areas, making Jubitz a top choice for long-distance haulers.

Seven Feathers Truck & Travel Center at Canyonville

This stop provides prepaid parking, ensuring secure spots during busy hours. Its clean shower facilities and inviting driver’s lounge offer a much-needed respite. The deli serves fresh sandwiches and coffee, while guests can relax at the nearby Seven Feathers Casino. Drivers consistently praise the friendly staff and clean facilities.

Harris Ranch Express near the Oregon Border

Although just south of Oregon, Harris Ranch is often the first stop for drivers heading north on I-5. It features clean restrooms, generous parking, quality food courts, and charging stations for electric vehicles, an important amenity as electric trucking expands. A spacious picnic area offers a comfortable outdoor break spot.

What Makes a Truck Stop Worth Your Time?

Drivers rely on these facilities to provide:

Safe, ample parking with reservation possibilities.

Sanitary showers and rest areas to reduce fatigue.

Nutritious food options suitable for busy schedules.

Mechanical services to minimize roadside disruptions.

Amenities like free Wi-Fi and driver lounges lend comfort.

Pet-friendly areas for traveling companions.

Truck stops along Oregon’s I-5 provide more than just a quick break. They give you a chance to get clean, eat something good, and keep your truck in shape, all without wasting time. Being able to stop at places that cover these basics helps you stay ready for the next part of the drive. When you pull over, you want to be sure you can get what you need and get back on the road without delays.

Pilot has just opened two new travel centers, giving professional drivers a total of 165 dedicated truck parking spots across Ohio and Texas. These locations are designed to make long hauls a little easier with plenty of amenities built around drivers’ needs.

Findlay, Ohio Travel Center

Located at 11471 State Route 613W, the fully rebuilt Findlay location now offers 80 truck parking spaces and 59 car spots. The center features a Taco Bell for quick meals, clean restrooms and showers, public laundry facilities, a hot and cold deli, fully stocked beverage coolers, and three self-checkouts for faster service. Drivers can also take advantage of mobile fueling and exclusive perks through the Pilot app.

Eagle Pass, Texas Travel Center

The Eagle Pass location at 4392 El Indio Highway is a brand-new addition to Pilot’s network, offering 85 truck parking spaces, 65 car spaces, and eight diesel lanes. Amenities mirror those at Findlay, including clean restrooms and showers, public laundry, a hot and cold deli, beverage coolers, and four self-checkouts. Mobile fueling and Pilot app perks are also available.

Pilot emphasized the importance of driver comfort and efficiency in both locations. “Whether drivers need fuel, a meal, or just a place to recharge, these locations are designed to keep them moving comfortably and efficiently,” the company said.

These two travel centers are part of Pilot’s ongoing upgrades across the U.S. and Canada, aimed at supporting professional drivers with safer, more convenient, and driver-focused stops on the road.

Truck drivers relying on TravelCenters of America for emergency roadside assistance will need to plan. TA has temporarily paused its roadside assistance program while it reviews safety procedures and updates its protocols.

“This pause allows us to ensure our team members have the right tools, training, and processes in place to safely assist professional drivers on the road,” said Kathleen Roseman, TA’s vice president of fleet sales, channel partner programs, and small fleets.

The company has not announced when the program will resume, and details on the exact reason for the suspension have not been shared. Roadside assistance on highways is affected, but services in parking lots, rest areas, and other off-road locations will continue.

This action comes after a tragic incident on October 23, when a TA service technician was killed while assisting a Freightliner on Interstate 80 in Frelinghuysen Township, New Jersey. Reports confirm he was a diesel technician for TravelCenters of America.

Roadside accidents remain a serious risk for truck drivers and service personnel. On average, 566 people die and more than 14,000 are injured each year in incidents involving disabled vehicles on highways. That risk is why move-over laws exist in all states, requiring drivers to slow down or move over when approaching stationary emergency vehicles.

Many states have expanded these protections in recent years to include all types of stopped vehicles, including commercial service and tow trucks. This year alone, California, Kansas, New Hampshire, and West Virginia updated their laws. Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Wisconsin are considering similar measures. In New Jersey, where the recent fatality occurred, the current law only protects emergency, highway maintenance, tow, and sanitation vehicles. Proposed legislation A4813 would extend protection to any stationary vehicle.

For truck drivers, the temporary pause at TravelCenters of America is a reminder to have backup plans for roadside support. Safety isn’t just about rules; it’s about protecting yourself, your rig, and those helping you when trouble strikes on the road.

Truckers rolling through Ohio just got some good news: four new rest areas are now open, adding 40 truck parking spaces in key freight corridors. And that’s just the beginning. The state is launching a major overhaul—building 36 brand-new rest areas and upgrading 40 more by the end of 2026.

The first wave of these new sites just opened along U.S. Route 33 near Marysville and on U.S. Route 30 near Convoy, close to the Indiana border. Each location has 10 designated truck parking spots and includes features drivers appreciate: clean restrooms, vending machines, fresh drinking water, and even local travel information.

“A safe traveler is a well-rested traveler, so our goal is to provide a safe, clean space for visitors,” said Gov. Mike DeWine, who helped cut the ribbon on the new locations July 18.

DeWine launched this state-wide revamp last year to modernize Ohio’s rest stop network and support both safety and tourism.

In Van Wert County near Convoy, the eastbound and westbound rest areas now serve as the first welcome points for drivers entering Ohio on U.S. 30. They’re located just over 30 miles from Fort Wayne, Indiana. In addition to the 10 truck spots at each, there are 60 car spaces, family restrooms with universal changing stations, and vending options.

Pamela Boratyn, director of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), says the improvements reflect a larger push to make Ohio rest areas not just functional, but also inviting.

“These reimagined rest areas not only provide essential services but also serve as a gateway to discovering more attractions in Ohio, the Heart of it All,” she said.

Truckers traveling U.S. 33 near Marysville will also notice the changes. The new facilities in Union County include 10 parallel truck parking places per side, 27 car spaces, and the same upgraded amenities as the Convoy sites—everything from tourist info to clean water.

“Whether someone is new to Ohio or simply exploring a different region, these reimagined rest areas offer a warm welcome and a lasting first impression,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the state’s Department of Development.

These newest rest areas follow earlier improvements elsewhere in the state. Back in April, ODOT opened a renovated rest stop on U.S. 33 westbound in Meigs County near the West Virginia line. That location offers 12 truck parking spots and 31 for cars, along with updated facilities.

“This new rest area provides travelers with a secure, updated, and well-maintained place to rest, helping to reduce fatigue-related accidents on our highways,” DeWine said at the time.

And in March, a reconstructed site opened on I-70 westbound in Muskingum County. Delayed for a year, the facility now includes 12 truck parking spaces, 32 for cars, plus water, vending machines, family restrooms, and even a picnic area—10 miles east of Zanesville.

With freight traffic continuing to rise, Ohio’s investments in truck-friendly rest stops come at a critical time. More parking, cleaner facilities, and safe places to stop could make a real difference for drivers hauling through the Buckeye State.

Life on the road can be demanding, and sometimes it’s the little comforts that make all the difference. For many truck drivers, finding a unique truck stop or a small-town diner can turn an ordinary day into something memorable. Flat tires, long lines, and generic fast food are common enough—these hidden stops, though, remind us that great service, real food, and genuine hospitality are still out there if you know where to look.

Why It’s Worth Exploring the Less-Traveled Truck Stops

The big travel plazas have their place, but occasionally, venturing off the beaten path brings unexpected rewards:

Home-cooked meals that are actually homemade

Friendly staff who treat drivers like family

Cleaner facilities that never feel crowded

Memories of meals and interactions you just don’t experience at major chains

America’s Undiscovered Truck Stop Favorites

Keystone Restaurant & Truck Stop – Loretto, Pennsylvania

Drivers love Keystone for its welcoming diner atmosphere, hearty classics, and reliable cleanliness. There’s a deli for snacks and a convenience store for forgotten essentials, making this spot perfect whether you’re pausing for coffee or a full meal.

Waynesville Truck Plaza – Waynesville, North Carolina

Located in the scenic mountains, Waynesville’s local roast coffee and comfort food from the Haywood 209 Restaurant keep drivers coming back. Drivers talk up the peaceful surroundings and genuine hospitality, which are perfect for a well-earned break.

Busy Bee – Jasper, Florida

Small but consistently full of life, Busy Bee offers quick, cheerful service. Their reputation for homemade fudge and exceptionally clean restrooms means even a short visit feels special. It’s a favorite stop for truckers on I-75 looking to recharge.

Big Horn Travel Center – Fort Worth, Texas

Big Horn stands out for spotless facilities, a display of local wildlife, and plenty of convenient add-ons like air and water. With a bustling food court and accommodating staff, it’s a comforting stop for drivers passing through Texas.

Circle C Travel Plaza – Walterboro, South Carolina

The highlight here is Necee’s Restaurant, serving a classic Southern buffet in a friendly, laid-back setting. Plenty of parking and a regular crowd of truckers make it a reliable spot on I-95.

A & A Truck Stop – Jackson, Ohio

Locals and drivers alike appreciate A & A’s honest food and fair prices. Friendly staff and a no-frills vibe help make each visit feel a little like coming home.

Tiffin River Service Plaza – West Unity, Ohio

Drivers searching for a relaxed stop with quality amenities consistently rate Tiffin River as one of the best. The lounge, games, and convenient dining make longer breaks more enjoyable.

South of the Border – Hamer, South Carolina

With a playful roadside attraction feel, South of the Border is anything but ordinary. Around-the-clock dining, quirky shops, and colorful neon make it a stop worth taking, even if just to brighten your day.

Noble’s Restaurant and Truck Stop – Corinth, Kentucky

Looking for authentic, home-style dishes at a fair price? Noble’s serves up classic favorites in a laid-back setting, making it popular with regulars and visitors alike.

Dysart’s Truck Stop – Hermon, Maine

Dysart’s is a legendary stop in the Northeast, especially known for fresh pies and generous meals. The family-run vibe and ample parking keep truckers coming back trip after trip.

Tips for Discovering More Great Spots

To truly make the most of your drives, try a few new strategies:

Check out trucker forums and apps where drivers share reviews and honest feedback.

Give independent diners and cafés attached to smaller stops a try—they’re often less crowded and more personal.

Ask fellow drivers for their must-stop spots when you’re swapping stories at a rest area or fuel island.

There’s a special kind of joy in finding a truck stop or diner that gets it right. Whether it’s the food, the people, or the small comforts that make your job easier, those hidden gems can make the miles roll by a little bit sweeter. Next time you’re planning your route, consider one of these under-the-radar favorites. Who knows—you might just add a new story to your journey.

As fireworks lit up skies across the U.S., truck drivers from our Truck Drivers USA community marked Independence Day in all kinds of ways—on the highway, at home, and everywhere in between. The 4th of July might be behind us, but their stories reflect the reality of life on the road: moments of solitude, sacrifice, celebration, and connection, whether rolling through Wyoming or relaxing with family in Ohio.

Here’s a look at where some of our drivers were this Independence Day:

Celebrating at Home or Off the Clock
For many, the day was a rare moment to slow down and unwind.

Carla Crim spent her evening in Ohio, solo but content, watching Jaws 3.

Jack Harris also stayed in, relaxing at home and listening to his neighbors’ fireworks echo through the night.

Crystal Dahlman, a top fan, shared her 4th with her grandkids, watching TV and enjoying some quiet family time.

Tom Cutler enjoyed the holiday at home with his two loyal fur babies.

Andrew Joseph spent it at his sister’s house in Ames, Iowa.

Deb Brogdon checked in from Bascom, Florida.

Mike Fitzgerald was in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Dennis Smith simply said: “Home.”

Still on the Move, But Making the Most of It
For drivers who were working or on the road, the 4th looked a little different, but they found ways to enjoy it nonetheless.

Ashley Wade was making her way into Lake Havasu, heading toward Minneapolis.

Leisa Jackson was rolling toward Houston, keeping her spirits up: “Happy 4th of July!”

Rick Yates was in California’s Bay Area, getting loaded and prepping for a run down I-40.

Dennis Winstead was headed toward California as well.

Paul Trotter, a top fan, was loading up in Michigan.

Kim Sluyter started her day on I-17 south of Flagstaff and expected to end it somewhere along I-10.

Harold Warwick had a busy day, delivering to the Walmart DC in Gas City, Indiana, then making his way to Paw Paw, Michigan, for the next pickup.

Truck Stops, Terminals, and Everywhere in Between
Some drivers found themselves at familiar haunts or waiting out the holiday in quieter spots.

Dan Carr was across from the Flying J in Aurora, Oregon.

Larry Robertshaw was parked in Kanona, New York, near the Pilot/Love’s and even set off fireworks from above the westbound rest area.

Sean Newcomer checked in from the Love’s in Shorter, Alabama.

Jeffery Lewis was at the Petro in Salina, Kansas.

Gary Stewart stopped at the Love’s in Wamsutter, Wyoming.

David Combs found himself at the Kwik Trip in Worthington, Minnesota.

Waheed Zazai enjoyed the scenery near Delano, California, and spent time making videos of a nearby grape garden.

Simon Bowdrey reported from the TA in Prescott, Arkansas, where the heat and humidity were on full blast.

Across the U.S. and Around the World
Others were scattered across the map, from the Midwest to overseas.

Diane Young and Mary Ridener both celebrated from Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Pamela Sanchez was in Running Springs, California.

Jaime Saravia stayed in Haines City, Florida.

James Kimbley was in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Marvin Chacón Madrigal, a top fan, was grateful to be safe at home.

Kasey Kindrick celebrated all the way from London, England.

Paul Wallis was in Iligan City, Philippines.

Sigfredo Ariel Aizpurua spent the day at the Terpel gas station in Penonomé, Panama.

Mark Reese, retired after 45 years, was relaxing in Volcan, Panama.

Riding with Family or Missing Them from Afar
Some shared sweet updates about their loved ones—either being reunited or waiting for them to come home.

Pam Budd Goodwin shared that her husband was on the road in Nebraska but planned to be home by Sunday.

Shelly Stockton said her husband was in Montana heading for Idaho, while she was holding it down back in Michigan.

Gail Boyce was thrilled: “My son is home! Thought he would be working, so he’s relieved.”

More Check-Ins from Around the Country
Our drivers showed up from every corner of the country:

Norman Larsen from Cheyenne, WY

Lyle W Brunson at the I-80 & I-25 intersection

John Bushbaum from his brother’s place in Silver Lake, WI

Ashley Davis from Madison, GA

Randy Jaye Westbrooks in Kingsport, TN

Marion D. Hill in northeast Texas

Don Smith in Mineola, TX

Lisa Michelle McDowell in West Virginia

Jeff Dewey, retired in Eagle River, WI

Judy Cobb at Outback RV Resort

John Hubalek Jr. is safe and sound in Oswego, NY

Catherine Guill gave a shoutout to her dad and all drivers out there

Matt Marckese in Brush, CO

Jesse Ray Rex in Gila Bend, AZ

Chris Hill in Flat Rock, NC

Mary Cruikshanks in Cincinnati, OH

Bob Boss was hosting in Stamford, CT

Trudy Fearday checked in from Friendship Beach and also mentioned Adams, Wisconsin

Michael Wamhoff in Jessup, Maryland

Sekh Denise in Savannah, GA

Maxamed Ismacil in Phoenix, AZ

Bill Cutsinger in Cullman, AL

Rhonda Starling in Florida

Sherry Stroy kept things light with a quick “LOL.”

Al Cravenjr Jr. near MM37

Jordain Wilburn stayed home this year, remembering the last 4th spent at a truck stop in Laredo, TX.

Whether behind the wheel or with family, working or resting, drivers across our community spent the 4th of July in ways as varied as the roads they travel. And no matter where they were, one thing was clear: the spirit of resilience and pride runs deep in this profession.

To all drivers out there—thank you for keeping the country moving, every day of the year.
