TravelCenters of America has delivered its largest single-year fundraising contribution to the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, raising more than $100,000 through its most recent annual charity golf tournament.

The St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund announced the milestone donation from TravelCenters of America, noting that the total represents the biggest one-year contribution generated by the event since the partnership began in 2017.

A milestone year for a long-standing partnership

The annual charity golf tournament has become a key source of support for the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund over the past several years. Since the partnership launched, the event has produced steadily growing contributions, culminating in this record-breaking total.

“This milestone contribution demonstrates the power of sustained corporate support and the meaningful impact it can have on drivers and their families when they need it most,” said Courtney Niemann, executive director of SCF. “TravelCenters of America has been an incredible partner to the St. Christopher Fund for nearly a decade.”

SCF said the most recent tournament marks an important moment in the partnership and highlights increasing industry engagement around driver well-being and support.

Direct support for drivers facing hardship

According to the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, proceeds from the tournament go directly toward providing financial assistance to professional drivers who are unable to work due to illness or injury.

“The record-breaking total reflects TA’s long-standing commitment to supporting professional drivers and their families during times of illness or injury,” SCF said. “Proceeds from the tournament directly benefit SCF’s mission to provide financial assistance to drivers facing hardship.”

Industry leaders say contributions of this size help ensure that assistance remains available to drivers when unexpected medical events or injuries disrupt their ability to earn a living.

TravelCenters of America on supporting drivers

TravelCenters of America leadership emphasized that driver support remains a core priority for the company, both through its travel center network and through charitable efforts like the annual golf tournament.

“Professional drivers keep this country moving, and supporting their well-being is a responsibility we take seriously,” said Jason Nordin, CEO, TA. “Our annual golf tournament is one way we can rally our vendor partners, our team members, and our industry around the drivers who need us most. We’re proud to stand with the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund and to help strengthen the safety net for the [people] who spend their lives on the road.”

TA said the tournament brings together vendors, partners, and employees with a shared goal of supporting drivers and their families during difficult times.

The role of the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund

The St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund provides short-term financial assistance to Class A over-the-road drivers who have been taken out of work due to illness or injury within the past 365 days.

“The SCF is the only nationwide nonprofit that provides short-term relief to Class A OTR drivers suffering from an illness or injury that took them out of work within the last 365 days,” SCF said.

In addition to direct financial aid, the organization also offers several free prevention-focused health and wellness programs designed to help drivers stay healthy and remain on the road. Those programs include nicotine cessation, diabetes prevention, chronic disease management, at-home cancer screenings, and vaccine vouchers.

Looking ahead

SCF leaders said record-setting contributions like this one allow the organization to continue expanding its assistance and prevention programs as demand remains steady across the trucking community.

Drivers, carriers, and industry partners interested in supporting the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund can make donations or inquire about sponsorship opportunities by contacting Diane Hutsell, director of philanthropy, at diane@truckersfund.org.

Apex Moving + Storage, working in partnership with Move for Hunger, recently delivered 1,000 meal kits to Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville, Tennessee. The effort highlights how transportation resources can be leveraged to fight food insecurity while reducing food waste.

“The effort is spearheaded by long-standing Move for Hunger partner Apex Moving + Storage, an agent of Atlas Van Lines, which is providing transportation and logistics support at no cost,” the press release said.

Using Transportation to Fight Hunger

Move For Hunger is a nonprofit dedicated to recovering surplus food and directing it to those who need it most. In this initiative, community drives and corporate partnerships helped assemble 20 pallets of shelf-stable, nutritious meal kits, which are now available to families struggling to access regular meals.

In Tennessee, food insecurity remains a significant challenge. About one in five children and 1,000,000 residents across the state face inconsistent access to healthy nutrition. Deliveries like this one play a vital role in connecting surplus resources to those in need.

“Every delivery like this brings us one step closer to a hunger-free future,” said Adam Lowy, founder of Move for Hunger. “We’re grateful to Apex Moving + Storage for their unwavering commitment to our shared goal. By mobilizing their trucks and teams, we’re turning potential waste into lifelines for neighbors in Nashville and beyond. Since 2009, our network has delivered over 55 million meals – including more than 1 million meals in Tennessee and initiatives like this keep that momentum going strong.”

Impact Beyond Delivery

This initiative demonstrates the power of logistics and transportation in community service. Moving companies, by using their fleet and staff, can extend their impact far beyond traditional business roles. The partnership shows how efficiently structured delivery systems and committed drivers can make a measurable difference in the fight against hunger.

Get Involved

Individuals and companies interested in contributing or participating in future efforts can visit Move for Hunger’s website to learn how to help. Every truck and team mobilized makes a difference in turning potential waste into meals for families across the country.

As National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) winds down, Shell Rotella and Love’s Travel Stops are making sure drivers know their hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. The two brands teamed up to deliver a meaningful thank-you that goes beyond words, with a donation to the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund (SCF).

Turning Appreciation into Action

Earlier this year at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS), Shell Rotella invited attendees to record messages of gratitude in its “Thank-a-Trucker” studio. For each message shared, both Shell Rotella and Love’s pledged $20 to SCF — an organization dedicated to helping truckers facing unexpected financial or medical challenges.

In total, 72 heartfelt recordings were made, adding up to a combined $2,880 donation to SCF. Shell emphasized the power of turning appreciation into action: “Seventy-two voices of gratitude echoed through MATS, each one a heartfelt ‘thank you’ that turned words into action. In total, these messages generated a $2,880 donation made in honor of the hardworking people who keep the country moving.”

Spotlighting the People Behind the Wheel

The donation is being presented this week during NTDAW, along with a virtual check presentation video rolling out on social media. The video will feature thank-you messages from Shell Rotella and Love’s representatives, paired with the unveiling of the donation check, creating a shareable way to recognize truck drivers nationwide.

Julie Wright, North American brand manager for Shell Rotella, underscored the importance of the effort: “Truckers are the unsung heroes of the highway, and their sacrifices and commitment deserve our deepest gratitude. We are honored to shine a spotlight through this shared tribute to every mile, every sacrifice, and every story worth celebrating through our continuing support of SCF.”

A Gift That Makes an Impact

For drivers, this support can make a real difference. Diane Hutsell, director of philanthropy at SCF, explained: “Every donation, every thank-you message, makes a difference. Shell Rotella and Love’s Travel Stops continue to show up for drivers in a meaningful way, and this gift will help us continue our mission to support truckers in need.”

Amplifying Voices Across the Industry

To reach even more drivers, Shell Rotella partnered with trucking influencers Clarissa Rankin (@iamclarissarankin) and Tarik Al-Amin II (@tarik_alaminii). Their platforms helped amplify the project, encouraging drivers to share personal experiences and stories of gratitude that reflect the strength and heart of the trucking community.

Courtney Franklin, manager of community relations at Love’s Travel Stops, noted how the partnership reflects shared values: “It’s an honor to align with Shell Rotella in sharing a sincere thank you to the people who drive the transportation industry and economy. This partnership reflects our shared respect for drivers and our commitment to their health and success.”

Wrapping Up NTDAW with Thanks

As NTDAW comes to a close on Sept. 20, the donation and tribute video serve as reminders that appreciation for drivers shouldn’t stop once the week ends. With millions of miles traveled and countless sacrifices made, this initiative highlights the dedication of professional truckers and the importance of recognizing their role in keeping America moving.

TruckPro LLC, one of the largest independent distributors of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts in the United States, has once again made a significant contribution through its TruckPro Gives Back program. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, the company announced it has donated $115000 to several charitable partners this year.

The organizations receiving funding include St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, The War Amps in Canada, and the Salvation Army. According to the company, these groups align with TruckPro’s ongoing mission to support causes that help children, veterans, and communities throughout North America.

“We are proud of our TruckPro Gives Back program and our ongoing partnerships with the worthy organizations we support and the important work they do,” said Chuck Broadus, chief executive officer of TruckPro. “Through this program, we are able to support efforts that make a difference, and we appreciate the continued support and donations from our team at TruckPro.”

The announcement was made internally during the company’s National Sales Summit and Supplier Tradeshow, which took place earlier this year at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. More than 230 regional and store managers from across the United States and Canada attended the gathering to connect and review the company’s primary goals and initiatives.

The event also included a tradeshow where over 75 suppliers presented their products and offered training sessions, demonstrations, and valuable insights to attendees.

TruckPro noted that its commitment to charitable work remains central to its company culture. This dedication encourages employees and supplier partners to participate in efforts that create lasting change for people in need.

The company currently operates more than 150 stores and advanced service shops throughout its distribution network.

“You have to water the seed, and you will see it grow.” – Kirsy O., Driver Recruitment Manager at NFI Industries

Kirsy O., a dedicated driver recruitment manager at NFI Industries, brings over a decade of experience in trucking to the She Drives initiative. She’s a passionate advocate for creating opportunities for women in logistics and transportation, emphasizing the importance of inclusion, communication, and community. Her hands-on approach is helping transform the industry into a more supportive space for women drivers.

Kirsy believes that fostering diversity is about more than buzzwords—it’s about meaningful action. As she explained during a recent podcast appearance, NFI is building a culture where women can thrive both professionally and personally. “You need to make sure that you have a seat at the table and that you’re talking about what is important to you,” Kirsy shared. Through She Drives, this vision is becoming a reality by offering a platform for open conversations and actionable change.

One of the standout efforts Kirsy highlighted was NFI’s recent health and wellness event, where a mobile mammogram unit was brought to one of their terminals. This initiative provided a vital service not only for women drivers but also for other employees in transportation. “It’s way bigger than what we think,” Kirsy said, emphasizing that addressing the needs of drivers means going beyond the basics to support their overall well-being.

When it comes to recruitment, Kirsy knows the questions women are asking: Can I do this job and still care for my family? Her answer is an enthusiastic yes. NFI prioritizes family-friendly scheduling, with about 90% of their fleet offering roles that allow drivers to be home every day. Kirsy and her team actively ensure transparency, letting drivers know what to expect and addressing their concerns directly. “You owe it to them to let them know exactly where they’re going and what challenges they might face,” she said.

At the core of She Drives is a commitment to building a supportive network where women drivers can share resources and advice. Kirsy shared how this community is vital in helping drivers navigate their day-to-day lives. From discussing safe rest stops to balancing work and home life, She Drives fosters connections that empower drivers to succeed on their own terms.

As Kirsy puts it, “Not everything is one-size-fits-all. We need to find out what’s important to you and take it from there.”
