It often means showing up when the community needs support. Lily Transportation did exactly that again this year, helping the VA Boston Healthcare System with its annual Operation Turkey Drop and putting their logistics skills to work for Veterans.

A week before the holiday, Lily prepared two large freezer trailers to keep everything stored and ready for distribution.

“This program is a very special one for the Lily volunteers who have braved the elements for several years to ensure that our Veterans have a much deserved and enjoyable Thanksgiving meal,” Stanton said.

The program provided more than fourteen thousand dollars worth of Thanksgiving food, including more than three hundred twenty turkeys and hams, pies, carrots, onions, pans, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy mix, and other meal essentials.

Each year, truck drivers across the country play a key role in helping Wreaths Across America deliver millions of wreaths to cemeteries nationwide. For 2025, the organization is once again reaching out to carriers and owner-operators to join the effort, with more than 20 lanes still open for transport partners.

Since 2007, Wreaths Across America has worked year-round under its mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach, a message that resonates deeply throughout the trucking community. What started back in 1992 as a small act of gratitude at Arlington National Cemetery has grown into a national movement that now reaches over 5,400 locations across the U.S. and abroad.

National Wreaths Across America Day will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025. More than 4 million volunteers are expected to take part in ceremonies that honor fallen veterans through wreath-laying events in all 50 states, at sea, and overseas. Truck drivers are the ones who make these ceremonies possible, hauling over 700 truckloads of live balsam wreaths every season.

“This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025. More than 4 million volunteers and supporters will gather to Remember, Honor and Teach through wreath-laying ceremonies in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad.”

For many fleets, joining the Honor Fleet isn’t just a way to give back; it’s a way to connect their work with something meaningful. Trucking companies that take part gain nationwide recognition through media coverage, community partnerships, and volunteer involvement.

Beyond the good it does, participation also helps boost driver pride and retention. Carriers who’ve partnered in the past often note how the experience brings teams closer together. Taking part in the wreath deliveries or local ceremonies gives drivers a chance to represent their company while honoring those who served.

As Wreaths Across America puts it, the effort only works because truck drivers show up with that dependable “can-do” spirit the industry is known for. Fleets that join the Honor Fleet not only support a national mission but also stand shoulder to shoulder with others who share the same respect for service and sacrifice.

For 2025, Wreaths Across America is inviting more carriers to get involved and help cover remaining routes across the country. Those interested can find open lanes and details about how to sign up by visiting learn.wreathsacrossamerica.org/2025-open-lanes-available.

On Saturday, December 13, millions of volunteers nationwide will come together for Wreaths Across America Day, placing fresh balsam wreaths on the graves of military service members at veterans’ cemeteries across the United States.

Delivering Wreaths and Scholarships

TCA’s goal for 2025 is to fill an entire trailer with approximately 5,000 sponsored wreaths that will be delivered to participating cemeteries in December. Each wreath sponsorship is $17, and when purchased through TCA’s dedicated link, $5 goes directly to the TCA Scholarship Fund, helping students with ties to the truckload industry.

By taking part, supporters are both remembering a veteran and contributing to the future of the trucking community. Details on sponsoring wreaths are available at truckload.org/wreaths-across-america. Those interested in assisting with wreath deliveries can visit wreathsacrossamerica.org/getinvolved/supporttransportation.

Recognizing Professional Drivers

The night before the wreath-laying at Arlington National Cemetery, TCA and Pilot Flying J will host the annual Wreaths Across America Arlington Driver Appreciation Dinner. This year’s gathering is set for Friday, December 12. More than 75 professional drivers and guests will receive a meal and a token of appreciation for their contributions.

“Keep Moving Forward” – The 2025 Theme

Wreaths Across America has chosen “Keep Moving Forward” as its theme for 2025. The words came from Captain Joshua Byers, U.S. Army, moments after an IED struck his Humvee in Fallujah, Iraq, on July 23, 2003.

As Company Commander of Fox Troop in the 2/3 Armored Cavalry Regiment, Byers’ final command to his driver — “Keep moving forward” — saved lives, even though he did not survive. His family and fellow soldiers carried those words as a lasting call to persevere.

“There will always be challenges to overcome as individuals, communities, and a country, but we must keep moving forward together,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of WAA. “This year, we will share not only the Byers’ story of resilience but also the stories of many others who continue to live with purpose every day and have chosen to keep moving forward.”

The Meaning Behind Each Wreath

WAA explains that every wreath placed in honor of a veteran is made from 10 balsam bouquets, each representing qualities America’s veterans embody:

Belief in a greater good

Love for one another

Strength, work ethic, and character

Honesty and integrity

Humility, selflessness, and modesty

Ambitions and aspirations

Optimism for America

Concern for the future

Pride in their duties

Hopes and dreams, fulfilled or not, with no regrets

Symbolism is woven into every part of the wreath: evergreen boughs for endurance, the fresh scent of balsam for purity and simplicity, a red bow for sacrifice, and its circular shape for eternity.

Wreaths Across America (WAA) has recently celebrated 17 of its transportation partners, honoring them as members of the prestigious “Honor Fleet” for their remarkable commitment of 10 or more years of service.

The Honor Fleet is crucial in transporting millions of veterans’ wreaths nationwide every year. These wreaths are delivered to over 4,900 locations, including the revered Arlington National Cemetery. In 2024 alone, an impressive 739 loads of wreaths were transported by 397 trucking companies, exemplifying the scale and impact of their contribution.

Trucking Partners Driving a Noble Mission

Transportation partners are the backbone of WAA’s annual wreath-laying ceremonies. According to WAA, the honorees are recognized for their unwavering dedication, generosity, and relentless commitment to honoring veterans and their families.

This year’s honorees include:

Abilene Motor Express

Jetco Delivery

Hirschbach Motor Lines

Boyd Grain Inc.

Big G Express

Knight Transportation

Classic Carriers

Leonard’s Express

Hoekstra Transportation, LLC

Convoy Systems LLC

Paul MH Sagehorn LLC

Hampton Roads Moving & Storage

Total Transportation of Mississippi

Heartland Express

Waste Masters Solutions

B. Hunt

Matrix Expedited Service

Recognizing a Meaningful Contribution

“Many of our partners donating their time each year are veterans themselves, including the professional drivers hauling the loads,” shared Courtney George, Director of Transportation and Industry Relations for Wreaths Across America. “Professional drivers and carriers that join WAA’s Honor Fleet have the desire to do something meaningful to honor veterans and their loved ones, and many say that Wreaths Across America provides a way for them to do that.”

WAA’s mission is a testament to the impact that the transportation industry can have in bringing communities together, demonstrating the deep gratitude and respect owed to our nation’s veterans. These partnerships are not only meaningful efforts to honor veterans but also a source of pride for the carriers involved.

This May, Pilot is showing its deep appreciation for the service and sacrifice of veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families by rolling out a series of exclusive offers and making a major contribution to a cause that supports their futures.

Giving Back Through Education and Support

As part of its ongoing support for military communities, Pilot is donating $100,000 to Folds of Honor. This nonprofit helps provide scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled service members and first responders.

“With contributions to organizations like Folds of Honor, we salute military service members’ legacies by helping provide educational scholarships,” said Meg Counts, Pilot’s director of corporate giving and events. “As a company grounded in serving others, we are honored to give our support to military members and their families who do so much to uplift and protect our communities.”

This donation is part of Pilot’s Miles of Good program, which aims to make a meaningful impact in communities across the country. Since 2020, the company has contributed over $2.7 million to military-related initiatives, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to those who’ve served.

Deals Just for Military Members and Their Families

Throughout May, veterans, active military, and their immediate families can access exclusive weekly deals through the myRewards Plus app, thanks to a partnership with ID.me for secure verification.

Each week, verified users can redeem three free offers at participating locations. These include complimentary Pilot coffee, fountain drinks, hot menu items such as pizza or breakfast sandwiches, and chilled beverages from the cooler.

Beyond these limited-time offers, verified military guests can also enjoy a 10% discount on food and beverages year-round through the app, making every visit a little more rewarding.

A Workplace That Welcomes Veterans

Pilot is also highlighting its commitment to hiring veterans and military families.

“As a proud employer of veterans, Pilot encourages former and transitioning military members and their families to join its team by visiting jobs.pilotflyingj.com,” the company said in a statement.

Pilot continues to strengthen its ties to the military community by focusing on career opportunities for former service members.

How to Get Started

To take advantage of these military appreciation offers, eligible users should verify their service status through ID.me within the myRewards Plus app. Once verified, they can load offers into the app and redeem them using their myRewards card, barcode, or phone number linked to their account at checkout.

From charitable donations to everyday perks, Pilot’s initiatives this May clearly show its continued respect and gratitude for the men and women who serve—and for the families who stand behind them.

Attention drivers! Here’s an opportunity to get active, make a difference, and improve your health at the same time. The Route 66 Virtual Route Challenge officially kicks off on May 22, aimed at supporting veterans.

What is the Challenge?

Dubbed the “Miles for Veterans—Route 66 Virtual Route Challenge,” this 2,200-mile virtual fitness event invites participants from across the country to a nostalgic and meaningful adventure. By walking or running, participants will virtually travel along historic Route 66 while honoring veterans, promoting wellness, and celebrating the rich heritage of this legendary highway.

This historic road, often referred to as the “Main Street of America,” has played a significant role in both the trucking industry and military history. Since its inception in 1926, Route 66 has served as a crucial commercial artery, connecting communities and facilitating the movement of goods across the United States.

Veterans and the Trucking Industry

The trucking industry has long been intertwined with the experiences of veterans, many of whom transition into truck-driving careers after completing their service. With approximately 18 million veterans in the U.S. currently working as truck drivers, they continue to uphold values of resilience and dedication, driving the economy forward.

This unique connection between veterans and Route 66 inspired Rolling Strong President Steve Kane to develop this virtual walk/run initiative. The event not only encourages participants to stay physically active but also raises much-needed funds for Waypoint Vets, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the well-being of military veterans.

Supporting Waypoint Vets

Waypoint Vets, founded by veteran Sara Lee, offers life-changing adventures that help veterans reconnect with themselves and foster lasting bonds with others who have served. These carefully designed experiences allow veterans to share their stories, heal, and grow in an understanding and supportive environment.

The “Miles for Veterans” challenge unites organizations like Rolling Strong and FIT DRIVERS to support Waypoint Vets’ mission. By participating in this fitness challenge, you’ll be part of an effort to raise awareness of veterans’ issues while also celebrating Route 66’s historic significance.

Get Ready to Join

Mark your calendars for May 22! This is your chance to make every step count for a meaningful cause. Stay tuned for details on how to register. Together, participants can walk or run to honor veterans and promote health and wellness across the nation.

Challenge yourself to make a difference while taking a virtual trip down memory lane on America’s most iconic highway!

Schneider National Inc. has once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to honoring veterans by participating in the Wreaths Across America (WAA) initiative for the 16th consecutive year. This year, four Schneider drivers joined the WAA Honor Fleet, delivering wreaths to national cemeteries across the United States—a moving tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes.

A Meaningful Mission for Military Veterans

For Schneider associates with military backgrounds, taking part in Wreaths Across America carries profound significance. Among this year’s participants is Patrice Cook, a U.S. Army veteran and one of Schneider’s esteemed Ride of Pride drivers. Cook had the honor of joining the prestigious Escort to Arlington, a convoy that began its east coast route on December 7 and concluded at Arlington National Cemetery on December 14 for Wreaths Across America Day.

“Each year, participating in this event is a profound honor,” Cook said. “Bringing wreaths to national cemeteries to honor those who have sacrificed their lives is deeply moving. Being part of the Escort to Arlington and witnessing the support and patriotism of onlookers along the route is incredibly heartwarming. At each stop, we meet people who share their stories and express their gratitude. It’s a reminder of the impact and importance of our mission, and it fills me with pride and humility to be part of such a meaningful tradition.”

A Responsibility to Give Back

Schneider has embedded the values of community responsibility and service in its operations. With 13% of its associates having military experience, the company provides meaningful opportunities for employees to give back. Since 2008, Schneider drivers have participated in WAA by delivering wreaths that commemorate the sacrifices of fallen service members. The company promotes active involvement in communities where its associates live and work, reflecting its core value of operating responsibly.

This year, the WAA theme, “Live with Purpose,” has resonated strongly with Schneider’s associates, who shared how this message inspires their work.

What “Live with Purpose” Means to Schneider Drivers

Patrice Cook stated, “‘Live with Purpose’ means making a positive impact on our future. As a Ride of Pride driver, I support my fellow veterans by attending events at care homes, hospitals, and other locations that offer support.”

Similarly, Jeff Waggoner, a U.S. Army veteran and Ride of Pride driver since 2022, noted, “To me, ‘Live with Purpose’ is about doing what you enjoy and finding fulfillment. Driving the Ride of Pride truck honors those who have served, and it’s rewarding to help other veterans. WAA isn’t just for veterans or drivers; anyone can contribute by volunteering, setting out wreaths, or donating.”

Bobby Brown, a U.S. Army veteran and Schneider employee for over 33 years, shared, “When I hear ‘Live with Purpose,’ I think of ‘Drive with Purpose’—what I do every day at Schneider. This route is especially important to me, having served in the Army and with many family members in the military. If there’s one load to do in a year, it’s this one.”

Doug Huber, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Schneider Van Truckload driver, added, “Remembrance is so important to honor fallen or missing veterans and also for all those who are currently serving in our military. I am proud to be part of WAA to do that. Additionally, ‘Live with Purpose’ means to me to reach out to those with a frown and brighten their day somehow, each and every day.”

Honoring and Remembering Through Action

Wreaths Across America began over 30 years ago and has grown into a year-long initiative focused on remembrance, honor, and teaching the values of freedom and sacrifice. Schneider has played an integral role in advancing this mission, consistently showcasing its dedication to operating responsibly and honoring those who served our country.

Pilot, one of the leading travel center companies in the nation, has pledged $50,000 to assist aspiring truck drivers in obtaining their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The donation was made in partnership with Giving Tuesday, benefiting Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships for the families of America’s fallen or disabled military personnel and first responders.

This generous contribution reflects Pilot’s commitment to supporting both the trucking industry and the families of service members. The funds will grant scholarship opportunities to eligible individuals, helping them start their trucking careers and strengthen the nation’s essential supply chain.

“It’s an honor for Pilot to continue to celebrate and honor the incredible heroes across our country—the truck drivers who safely put millions of miles on our highways to keep us going and our service members, first responders and their families who sacrifice so much for our nation,” said Wendy Hamilton, Chief of Staff at Pilot. “Giving back to the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and the communities we serve, especially through education, is a small way to show our gratitude and support their future. We look forward to seeing more truck drivers out here and are thankful for the work done through Folds of Honor and their scholarship programs.”

Folds of Honor, established in 2007, has so far delivered over 62,000 scholarships across all 50 states, amounting to nearly $290 million in educational aid. This shared mission aligns perfectly with Pilot’s efforts to give back to service members’ families by providing educational opportunities with lasting impact.

“Folds of Honor is grateful for the support of Pilot,” said Lt Col Dan Rooney, CEO and Founder of Folds of Honor. “This contribution will enable us to heighten our impact and further our mission to honor the sacrifice of America’s service members and first responders and educate their legacy. Pilot, its team members, and the individuals it serves are true patriots that understand the importance of education and are doing something about it.”
