Volvo Trucks North America has announced a recall affecting more than 4,000 of its 2026 VN models due to a safety risk involving the interior door latch system.

Recall Details

The action covers approximately 4,040 trucks manufactured between April 1 and Aug. 22, 2025. According to recall filings, the interior door handle cable may have been installed incorrectly. If this occurs, the affected door might not open when needed, creating a potential hazard for drivers and passengers.

Recall documents state that the issue stems from a supplier error in which “one of Volvo’s suppliers did not apply adequate adhesive to a connection point within the door latch.”

Corrective Action

Dealers will address the defect by replacing both the door latch cable and pivot clip at no cost to owners.

Letters notifying truck owners will be mailed beginning Nov. 17, 2025. Volvo truck owners seeking more information can contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2508. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has logged the issue under recall number 25V-620.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced recalls involving thousands of trucks manufactured by Mack Trucks Inc. and Volvo Trucks North America. The affected models span the 2025 and 2026 model years and involve separate issues related to trailer lighting and interior door mechanisms.

Mack Trucks Recall Details

Mack Trucks Inc. is recalling roughly 156 Mack Pioneer VR trucks from the 2025-2026 model years. The issue involves the trailer lighting system.

When a trailer is connected, the lights may not illuminate because of a body control module that was manufactured incorrectly.

Remedy:
Dealers will replace the trailer body input/output module at no cost to owners. Notification letters are scheduled to be mailed on November 17. For assistance, owners can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. The recall number assigned by Mack is SC0484. Vehicle Identification Numbers included in the recall can be searched on the NHTSA website.

Volvo Trucks Recall — Trailer Lighting Issue

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling approximately 2,307 New VN trucks from model years 2025-2026 for the same potential trailer lighting malfunction.

As with the Mack recall, the trailer lights might not activate when towing, due to a body control module that was improperly manufactured.

Remedy:
Dealers will replace the trailer body input/output module at no charge. Owner notification letters should be mailed on November 17. Volvo Trucks customer service is available at 800-528-6586. The recall reference number is RVXX2507. VINs included in the recall may be searched through the NHTSA website.

Volvo Trucks Recall — Door Latch Cable

A separate recall affects an additional 3,609 New VN trucks from the 2026 model year. This issue is unrelated to lighting.

The problem involves the interior door handle. The door latch cable may have been installed incorrectly, which could prevent the door from opening.

Remedy:
Dealers will replace both the pivot clip and the door latch cable at no additional charge. Notification letters are slated for mailing on November 17. Owners with questions can call Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586. This recall is listed under number RVXX2508, and VINs can be confirmed on NHTSA’s site.

Two major truck manufacturers are facing recalls this fall as safety regulators flag defects in both lighting systems and door latches. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recalls affect thousands of Volvo and Mack vehicles built for the 2025 and 2026 model years.

Lighting Malfunctions on Volvo and Mack Trucks

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling more than 2,000 VN trucks from the 2025 and 2026 model years after uncovering a fault in the trailer body control system. The defect, traced to an improperly manufactured body control module, can cause trailer lights to stop working when the truck is towing.

Drivers may notice the issue if their dashboard displays a pop-up warning that communication has been lost with the trailer body input and output module. If the trailer’s tail lights or turn signals fail, surrounding motorists may not see the truck braking, stopping, or changing lanes, which raises the risk of collisions.

The same lighting issue may also affect more than 150 Mack Pioneer trucks built for model years 2025 and 2026. Volvo reported 28 field cases and 204 warranty claims connected to 176 trucks, though there have been no confirmed crashes or injuries tied to the defect.

Both Mack and Volvo dealers will replace the trailer body input and output module free of charge. Owners will begin receiving official notifications by mail on November 17, 2025.

Volvo owners can contact customer service at 800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2507.

Mack owners can call 800-866-1177 with recall number SC0484.

NHTSA reference numbers are 25V621 for Volvo and 25V622 for Mack.

Door Latch Recall on Volvo VN Trucks

In a separate action, Volvo Trucks has also identified a potential hazard with interior door latches. Over 4,000 VN trucks from the 2026 model year are being recalled because an incorrectly installed latch cable on the interior handle could keep the door from opening.

A jammed latch poses the risk of trapping occupants inside the cab, creating a safety hazard in emergencies. So far, Volvo has received 17 field reports, but no incidents or injuries. The company estimates that less than half a percent of the affected vehicles are actually defective.

Dealers will repair the issue at no cost, replacing both the latch cable and the pivot clip. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail beginning November 17, 2025.

Volvo customer service can be reached at 800-528-6586, recall number RVXX2508.

NHTSA has assigned this recall the number 25V620.

What Truck Owners Should Do

Drivers operating affected Volvo or Mack trucks are urged to pay close attention to their recall notifications and schedule service as soon as possible once letters arrive. Even though no injuries have been reported, both lighting failures and jammed doors present serious safety risks if left unaddressed.

For additional information, truck owners can search recall numbers directly through NHTSA’s online recall database or contact the manufacturers’ customer support lines.

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) has announced a recall involving specific VN truck models produced between 2023 and 2026.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall impacts approximately 5,257 vehicles.

Reason for Recall

The issue stems from a malfunction in the hazard switch backlighting, which could result in the lighting becoming non-operational. The NHTSA states this defect puts these trucks out of compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 101, which governs “Controls and Displays.”

Fix Available at No Cost

To resolve the issue, Volvo dealers will provide a software update for the vehicle master control unit (VMCU) at no charge.

Owner Notifications

If you own one of the affected vehicles, look for a notification letter, which Volvo Trucks plans to mail by June 1. For additional details or assistance, contact Volvo Trucks’ customer service at 800-528-6586 using the recall ID RVXX2503.

For further information, you can also call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or visit nhtsa.gov.

Ensure your truck meets safety standards and promptly address this issue to avoid disruptions.

Tens of thousands of Mack and over 100,000 International trucks are involved in a significant recall concerning Bendix electronic control units (ECUs). This action is part of Bendix’s extensive recall impacting hundreds of thousands of ECUs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that more than 60,000 Mack trucks—from model years 2020 to 2025, including the Anthem, Granite, Pinnacle, and TerraPro—are being recalled due to issues with Bendix EC80 Advanced ECUs. Problems such as electrical interference and inadequate power line signals may lead the ECU to misinterpret commands or cease functioning altogether.

International Motors is also recalling over 105,000 trucks for similar reasons. The impacted models include:

2021-2025 HV

2021-2025 HX

2021-2024 LoneStar

2021-2025 LT

2021-2025 MV

2022 ProStar

2021-2025 RH

These malfunctions in the Bendix ECU could impair critical safety functions like automatic traction control, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), electronic stability control, active cruise control, and collision mitigation systems, thereby heightening crash risks.

The faulty EC80 ECUs are primarily installed in “towing vehicles.” Bendix utilizes a power line carrier network enabling communication between tractor and trailer through an electrical signal. This signal is prone to failure, particularly in trucks towing multiple trailers compared to those with a single trailer.

Mack Trucks has documented 55 warranty claims as of October 30th, where the ABS light activated, causing the system to go “offline” without affecting other safety features. Fortunately, no field reports, accidents, or injuries have been linked to the Bendix ECU malfunction so far.

Authorized dealers will offer free reprogramming of the affected Bendix ECU software. Mack truck owners will receive notification letters on December 13, while International truck owners can expect theirs on December 23.

This recall is part of a broader issue initiated on October 11, affecting over 400,000 ECUs distributed to Volvo Trucks and Navistar. Volvo has already recalled nearly 127,000 trucks featuring these ECUs.

For detailed information about the Mack recall, contact customer service at 800-866-1177 with recall number SC0472. NHTSA’s reference for this recall is 24V-792. Inquiries regarding the International recall can be directed to their customer service at 800-448-7825 with recall number 24515. NHTSA’s reference for this recall is 24V-818.
