Wabash Recalls Refrigerated Bodies Over Step Issue

Wabash is recalling 357 model-year 2021 through 2026 Econex refrigerated-body vehicles because the side-door stirrup steps may not be properly secured. If a step detaches during use, it could increase the risk of injury.

Wabash plans to repair the affected stirrup steps at no cost to owners. Notification letters are expected to be mailed in September. Owners with questions can contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404.

Wabash Also Recalls Four Dry Freight Trucks

A separate Wabash recall affects four model-year 2025 and 2026 dry-freight trucks equipped with liftgates. The company said the deck pins may fail, allowing the liftgate platform to fall unexpectedly.

Wabash, working with Hiab, will replace the deck pins and bushing kits free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed beginning August 21.

International Motors Recall Affects More Than 15,000 Trucks

The largest recall involves 15,236 International Motors vehicles, including certain model year 2021, 2023 through 2027 MV trucks and 2026 through 2027 HV trucks.

According to NHTSA, the battery interconnect cable may contact the auxiliary stud and battery hold-down bracket, creating the potential for a short circuit. A short circuit can increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

Dealers will install protective plastic saddles on the positive interconnect cable and, where necessary, add wind laces and a J-bolt between the batteries at no cost to owners. Notification letters are expected to be mailed on September 14.

International said this action replaces and expands an earlier recall, NHTSA Recall 25V534. Vehicles that were previously repaired under that campaign will still require the updated remedy. Owners can contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 26510.

Great Dane Recalls 11 Dry Van Trailers

Great Dane is recalling 11 model year 2027 Champion dry van trailers because they may have been manufactured without rear impact guard extension channels. Without those components, the trailers do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 224 covering rear impact protection.

Dealers will install the missing extension channels free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning September 15. Owners can contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493.

The recall covers 920 Wabash van trailers built between April 20 and June 5, 2026. According to the recall report, the bumper tube bolts on the rear underride guards may not have been tightened to the updated torque specification. That can reduce the protection provided by the guard and means the trailers may not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 223 covering rear impact guards.

Wabash said the issue traces back to a change in torque specifications tied to the use of different metals in rear impact guard manufacturing. In late May, the company learned through a deviation request from its bumper tube supplier that the bolts had been torqued below the required spec.

Wabash said the condition was corrected in production on June 6. The company is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the recall.

What Daimler Owners Need to Know

Daimler Trucks North America has issued a recall covering several Western Star and Freightliner models, including the Western Star 49X, 47X, 48X, 4700, and a range of Freightliner vocational trucks such as the Business Class M2, 114SD, 108SD, and 122SD.

The concern centers around axle clamp fasteners that may come loose. If that happens, the truck can become difficult to control, especially under load or at highway speeds. In total, 18,783 trucks fall under this recall.

Wabash Stepdeck Trailers Also Affected

Wabash National has issued its own recall that affects its 2025–2026 stepdeck trailers. In some units, the rear impact guard installed on the trailer isn’t the correct one and doesn’t meet the federal safety standards for Rear Impact Guards (FMVSS 223) and Rear Impact Protection (FMVSS 224).

The first recall impacts 295 trailers, and Wabash will swap out the rear impact guard at no cost to the owner. Notifications for this round are scheduled to begin on December 4.
