The 2025 Walcott Truckers Jamboree roared back to life with over 46,000 trucking fans gathering at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop despite some weather delays. This iconic three-day event celebrated the best of trucking culture, showcasing a stunning blend of community spirit, craftsmanship, and gleaming rigs.

One of the event’s biggest highlights was the Super Trucks Beauty Contest, which brought together working trucks and custom builds from all over North America. Participants competed across numerous categories, impressing attendees with everything from classic restorations to meaningful themed designs.

Top Honors Capture Tribute and Excellence

The contest’s top awards went to two standout trucks with powerful stories behind them.

Dylan Mercier from St. Anne, Illinois, earned the Best Overall Theme for his tribute rig, a 2005 Mack matched with a 2022 Wilson hopper bottom trailer called “Our Fallen Heroes.”

Starting today, the Iowa 80 Truckstop is officially turning into the heart of America’s trucking celebration. The 2025 Walcott Truckers Jamboree kicks off today and runs through Saturday, July 12, offering three packed days of festivities for truckers, families, and fans of the industry.

Held every summer at the “World’s Largest Truckstop,” this event is a tradition for many drivers — a moment to step out of the cab, enjoy live entertainment, and connect with the larger trucking community. Admission, parking, and concerts are all 100% free, and events will go on rain or shine.

A Tradition Built on Community and Celebration

The Jamboree brings together everything drivers love in one spot — from live music and fireworks to cookouts, classic rigs, and contests.

“The Jamboree wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of the Iowa 80 staff, along with all the volunteers who brave the summer heat to make sure it’s a success,” said Delia Moon Meier, senior vice president of the Iowa 80 Group.

Featured highlights include the annual Super Truck Beauty Contest, a showcase of vintage trucks, the fan-favorite Iowa pork chop cookout, and the ever-competitive Trucker Olympics. Two nights of fireworks will light up the Walcott sky — a tradition that’s grown into one of the most anticipated parts of the weekend.

Big Sounds on the Big Stage

Country music fans are in for a treat Friday night. Little Texas takes the main stage at 7:00 PM on July 11.

“You’ll remember Little Texas for their iconic songs ‘God Bless Texas,’ ‘Amy’s Back in Austin’ and ‘You and Forever and Me,’” said Heather DeBaillie, vice president of marketing for the Iowa 80 Group.

The Grammy-nominated group has also received two American Music Award nominations and five ACM nods, taking home Top Vocal Group of the Year in 1993. They also earned Album of the Year at the CMAs in 1994, securing their place in ‘90s country history.

The music lineup also includes several Quad Cities favorites:

The Jimmy Welty Band

Casey Muessigmann

Angela Meyer and the Western Stars

The Dani Lynn Howe Band

If You Go

The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is located at Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284 in Walcott, Iowa. On-site parking is free, and shuttle service from the parking area to the event grounds is being provided courtesy of TBK Financial’s LoadPay.

Concerts are free and open to the public, along with all other scheduled activities. For times and event details, visit truckersjamboree.com.

“So park your truck (or your car), put on your sunscreen, and head outside for another memorable Walcott Truckers Jamboree!” Meier added.

The Walcott Truckers Jamboree, held annually at the iconic Iowa 80 Truckstop on I-80 in Walcott, Iowa, features many heartwarming events, with the Truckers Best Friend pet contest being a standout. Truckers traveling across North America with their beloved animals — whether furry, scaly, or feathered — cherish this event as it celebrates the unique bond between drivers and their pets. This year, from July 11-13, the contest exclusively featured canines, adding a delightful twist to the festivities.

Truckers and their dogs participated in three entertaining categories: Best Dressed, Owner Look-Alike, and Best Trick. The results of this year’s competition are as follows:

Best Dressed

First place in Best Dressed was awarded to “Zippy” and Frederick Rethwisch from Tomah, Wisconsin. Their costumes, inspired by Big Enos and Little Enos from “Smokey and the Bandit,” wowed both judges and spectators.

Taking second place was “Peanut” and Ivan F. from Orlando, Florida. Peanut dazzled the crowd in a service vest, cowboy hat, and striking red “Doggles” sunglasses.

Claiming third place was “Benji” (a.k.a. “Puggles”) and Dawn Chase from New Hartford, Iowa. Puggles looked adorable in a lavender service vest and matching leash, perfectly coordinated with Chase’s purple tank top.

Owner Look-Alike

Zippy and Rethwisch impressed once again, securing first place in the Owner Look-Alike category with their matching baby blue suits and vibrant yellow scarves.

“Hank” and William Shrake from Conway, South Carolina, took second place. Hank’s black-and-tan collar, paired with Shrake’s outfit and an American flag dog tag, was a big hit with the audience.

Earning third place were “Peanut” and Ivan F., likely due to their remarkably similar facial expressions.

Best Trick

In the Best Trick category, Hank and Shrake took the top spot. Hank delighted spectators by standing on his hind legs to take a treat on command.

Benji and Chase came in second, providing humor and entertainment. Benji initially refused to lie down on command but eventually complied, drawing laughter from the audience.

Third place went to Zippy and Rethwisch, hilariously recreating their movie roles by comically bribing the judges.

The 45th annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree drew an impressive crowd of 53,453 people from Thursday to Saturday, July 11-13. Hosted at the iconic Iowa 80 Truckstop, the event attracted truck drivers, their families, local community members, and travelers from various parts of the United States and Canada, as confirmed by the Iowa 80 group.

Started by Bill Moon of Iowa 80, the Jamboree serves as a tribute to the indispensable role that trucking and truck drivers play across North America. Attendees were treated to a host of highlights that included the Super Truck Beauty Contest, vibrant live music performances, a captivating antique truck exhibition, and displays from over 150 exhibitors and vendors. Other crowd-pleasers included a dazzling fireworks display, the spirited Trucker Olympics, and a delicious pork chop cookout.

Delia Moon Meier, senior vice president of Iowa 80 Group and daughter of the founder, reflected on the event’s historic growth. The inaugural Jamboree took place in 1979, at a time when the trucking industry was undergoing major changes due to deregulation.

“There were almost no new trucks on the road. If a new truck drove by or pulled up to the fuel islands, everyone would run outside and look at it,” she reminisced.

“My dad (founder Bill Moon) got with the local truck dealers and asked them to bring some new trucks out to display during our appreciation event,” she continued. “My dad had some antique trucks—and his friends had some antique trucks—so they showed them off. It was unique! We had new trucks and antique trucks and Iowa pork chops. And that’s how the event started.”

Entertainment was a major highlight, featuring live concerts on Thursday and Friday evenings, followed by a spectacular truck light show and fireworks. Thursday saw performances by Royale Lynn and Matt Stell, while Shane Profitt and BlackHawk took the stage on Friday. Saturday’s festivities included a performance by Dani Lynn Howe.

The 45th Jamboree also coincided with the 60th anniversary of the Iowa 80 Truckstop, established in 1964. The celebration included a special cake from Baltimore’s Charm City Cakes, which attendees enjoyed on Friday afternoon.

The next Walcott Truckers Jamboree is set for July 10-12, 2025. Mark your calendars and prepare to attend this spectacular celebration of the trucking community. Stay tuned for announcements on the winners of this year’s Super Truck Beauty Contest, Trucker’s Best Friend Pet Contest, and Trucker Olympics.
