Hosted annually at the Iowa 80 Truckstop, the event remains one of the largest gatherings on the trucking calendar. Organizers estimate approximately 46,000 people attended last year’s jamboree, while more than 175 exhibitors are expected to participate during this year’s event.

Admission, parking, and concerts are free.

The schedule includes returning favorites such as the truck beauty contest, the Trucker Olympics, and the annual pork chop cookout, along with opportunities to visit exhibitor displays throughout the grounds.

Friday’s events will include a celebration marking the 100th anniversary of a 1926 FWD truck housed at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum. Built by the Four Wheel Drive Auto Company, the heavy-duty work truck is part of the museum’s permanent collection and represents an important period in the early development of commercial trucking. Museum admission is free throughout the jamboree, although donations are accepted to help preserve the collection.

Friday evening will conclude with a free concert by country group Little Texas, known for hits including God Blessed Texas and Amy’s Back in Austin. The band was named Top Vocal Group of the Year by the Academy of Country Music in 1993.

The Walcott Truckers Jamboree has been held for decades and continues to attract drivers from across the United States who stop to view custom trucks, visit vendors, explore the trucking museum, and spend time with others in the industry.

Held every summer at the “World’s Largest Truckstop,” this event is a tradition for many drivers — a moment to step out of the cab, enjoy live entertainment, and connect with the larger trucking community. Admission, parking, and concerts are all 100% free, and events will go on rain or shine.

A Tradition Built on Community and Celebration

The Jamboree brings together everything drivers love in one spot — from live music and fireworks to cookouts, classic rigs, and contests.

“The Jamboree wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of the Iowa 80 staff, along with all the volunteers who brave the summer heat to make sure it’s a success,” said Delia Moon Meier, senior vice president of the Iowa 80 Group.

Featured highlights include the annual Super Truck Beauty Contest, a showcase of vintage trucks, the fan-favorite Iowa pork chop cookout, and the ever-competitive Trucker Olympics. Two nights of fireworks will light up the Walcott sky — a tradition that’s grown into one of the most anticipated parts of the weekend.

Big Sounds on the Big Stage

Country music fans are in for a treat Friday night. Little Texas takes the main stage at 7:00 PM on July 11.

“You’ll remember Little Texas for their iconic songs ‘God Bless Texas,’ ‘Amy’s Back in Austin’ and ‘You and Forever and Me,’” said Heather DeBaillie, vice president of marketing for the Iowa 80 Group.

The Grammy-nominated group has also received two American Music Award nominations and five ACM nods, taking home Top Vocal Group of the Year in 1993. They also earned Album of the Year at the CMAs in 1994, securing their place in ‘90s country history.

The music lineup also includes several Quad Cities favorites:

Truckers and their dogs participated in three entertaining categories: Best Dressed, Owner Look-Alike, and Best Trick. The results of this year’s competition are as follows:

Best Dressed

First place in Best Dressed was awarded to “Zippy” and Frederick Rethwisch from Tomah, Wisconsin. Their costumes, inspired by Big Enos and Little Enos from “Smokey and the Bandit,” wowed both judges and spectators.

Taking second place was “Peanut” and Ivan F. from Orlando, Florida. Peanut dazzled the crowd in a service vest, cowboy hat, and striking red “Doggles” sunglasses.

Claiming third place was “Benji” (a.k.a. “Puggles”) and Dawn Chase from New Hartford, Iowa. Puggles looked adorable in a lavender service vest and matching leash, perfectly coordinated with Chase’s purple tank top.

Owner Look-Alike

Zippy and Rethwisch impressed once again, securing first place in the Owner Look-Alike category with their matching baby blue suits and vibrant yellow scarves.

“Hank” and William Shrake from Conway, South Carolina, took second place. Hank’s black-and-tan collar, paired with Shrake’s outfit and an American flag dog tag, was a big hit with the audience.

Earning third place were “Peanut” and Ivan F., likely due to their remarkably similar facial expressions.

Best Trick

In the Best Trick category, Hank and Shrake took the top spot. Hank delighted spectators by standing on his hind legs to take a treat on command.

Benji and Chase came in second, providing humor and entertainment. Benji initially refused to lie down on command but eventually complied, drawing laughter from the audience.

Third place went to Zippy and Rethwisch, hilariously recreating their movie roles by comically bribing the judges.
