Sponsored by the Transportation Intermediaries Association and Truck Parking Club, this award celebrates exceptional leadership, operational excellence, and the advancement of women in the industry. The winner will be revealed at the TIA Capital Ideas Conference and Exhibition on April 17.

Spotlight on the Finalists

The three finalists for 2026 bring a wide range of experience and achievements:

Eileen Dabrowski — Founder and CEO, Apex Tide Consulting

Dabrowski established Apex Tide Consulting in 2025 to help transportation and logistics companies strengthen leadership teams and improve organizational performance. Her experience spans sales, marketing, learning and development, and strategic planning. Before founding Apex Tide, she held leadership roles at private and publicly traded transportation companies where she built training programs, led key initiatives, and contributed to enterprise growth. Dabrowski has received industry recognition, including the DEI Pioneer Award, Leading Lady in Logistics, and TMSA Member of the Year. She continues to influence the industry through consulting, speaking engagements, and active participation in logistics associations.

Aurélie Doucette — Vice President of Dedicated Contract Carriage Operations, Penske Logistics

Doucette has more than twenty years of logistics experience and currently manages dedicated contract carriage operations for Penske Logistics. She moved from France to pursue an MBA at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis and began her career at Transfreight in 2001. Over time, she advanced into leadership roles overseeing multiple accounts. After Penske acquired Transfreight in 2015, Doucette continued to shape operations across all product lines. She focuses on mentorship, customer relationship management, and team development. Doucette also serves as executive champion for Penske’s Women’s Business Resource Group and has received the President’s Award twice.

Erin Mitchell — Chief Operating Officer, YMX Logistics

Mitchell joined YMX Logistics in 2024 to lead yard and trucking operations as well as human resources, IT, customer success, engineering, fleet safety, and maintenance. She brings over twenty years of experience from Kraft Heinz, where she managed logistics across more than one hundred warehouses and five North American distribution networks. At YMX, Mitchell focuses on modernizing outsourced yard operations and improving safety, sustainability, and overall performance. She is a strong advocate for expanding opportunities for women. More than half of recent leadership hires at YMX have been women. Her awards include Supply Chain Pros to Know 2026, Women in Supply Chain Award Trailblazers, Global Trade Magazine’s Women in Logistics list, and WIT’s Top Women to Watch in Transportation.

Why This Award Matters

The Distinguished Woman in Logistics Award honors professionals who combine operational expertise, leadership, and strategic vision. Finalists are chosen based on their accomplishments, mentorship, and measurable contributions to the logistics and transportation industry. This year’s group reflects a mix of consulting expertise, operational leadership, and innovative strategies that continue to influence logistics at every level.

The Women In Trucking Association has released its 2026 Top Women to Watch in Trucking list, highlighting professionals making a measurable impact across fleets, operations, safety, technology, and beyond.

Based in Arlington, the organization continues to recognize individuals who advance the industry through leadership, performance, and day-to-day contributions that keep freight moving.

“Part of WIT’s mission is to recognize women for their career accomplishments, their meaningful impact on the success of their companies, and their contributions to the industry at large,” said Jennifer Hedrick, CAE, WIT president and CEO. “These 75 professionals exemplify the mission, vision, and values of the Women In Trucking Association and truly are impressive women to watch in our industry.”

How the List Is Selected

The recognition comes from the editorial team at Redefining the Road, the official magazine of WIT. Honorees are chosen based on their character and what they have accomplished over the past 12 to 18 months.

According to Brian Everett, group publisher and editorial director, the program has recognized standout professionals in trucking for nine years. Over that time, it has grown into a benchmark for identifying leaders across all corners of the business.

A Look at Where These Leaders Work

This year’s group reflects just how broad the trucking industry really is. The women recognized represent motor carriers, third-party logistics providers, equipment manufacturers, private fleets, technology companies, and professional service firms.

Their roles cover a wide range of responsibilities, including:

Corporate management

Operations and fleet oversight

Sales and marketing

Human resources and driver support

Safety and compliance

Technology and engineering

Professional driving and maintenance

For drivers and industry stakeholders, that range matters. It shows how many different roles come together to keep trucks moving safely and efficiently every day.

The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) has recognized Lauren Russell, partner at Select Transport Partners, as its September 2025 Member of the Month. Russell’s leadership in third-party logistics and her ongoing advocacy for women in transportation made her a standout choice for the honor.

Building a Career in Logistics

Russell’s professional journey began shortly after college, when a friend encouraged her to join C.H. Robinson’s Chicago Central office. The move introduced her to an industry that quickly felt like home.

“I immediately loved the energy, problem-solving, and creativity it took to succeed in the logistics industry,” she said.

That early passion became the foundation of a career spanning multiple facets of logistics. Over the years, Russell has contributed to human resources, recruiting, training, operations, marketing, and even event planning.

“It has been extremely rewarding to use my background to support agents and build strong teams, especially within smaller, growing companies,” Russell said.

A Front-Row Seat to Growth

One of the defining chapters of her career came at Armstrong Transport Group. When Russell joined, the company was a modest operation of 15 employees generating $75 million in revenue. By the time she left, Armstrong had grown into a billion-dollar business. That transformation showed her firsthand what was possible with the right strategy and leadership.

Leading at Select Transport Partners

In June 2024, Select Transport Partners opened its doors. A few months later, Russell joined co-founders Chris Cobb and Tom Milosavljevich as a partner, bringing her expertise to the startup brokerage.

“The excitement of building something from the ground up and creating a place where agents and employees feel supported and valued is what keeps me pushing forward,” she said.

Her long-term vision is for Select to be known as the premier brokerage for independent agents, backed by strong recruiting, training, and support systems. She also hopes to shape the company into a workplace where people feel valued and connected to its mission.

Mentorship and Inspiration

Throughout her career, Russell credits her mentors for influencing how she approaches leadership. She recalls the guidance of Brian Mann, former CEO of Armstrong, as pivotal.

“He encouraged me to take on new projects and gave me the freedom to approach them in my own way. His collaboration, creativity, and leadership were invaluable to my development,” she said.

Advice for Women in the Industry

While trucking and logistics are evolving, Russell acknowledges the industry still has strides to make in gender representation. Her message to women entering the field is clear:

“While the industry has changed a lot over the last 25 years, you may still find yourself as the only woman in the room. Don’t be afraid to speak up; you bring a different perspective, and your voice should be heard.”

Looking Ahead

As Russell helps shape the future of Select Transport Partners, her goals remain focused on growth, support, and opportunity. WIT’s recognition of her as Member of the Month highlights her commitment not only to her company but also to fostering change across logistics.

Meet Kacy H., a woman who exemplifies what it means to push boundaries and break the mold of traditional careers. As an Army Reserve truck driver and an active member of the SheDrives NFI program, Kacy juggles two demanding roles, proving every day that dedication and hard work carve out new roads for female truck drivers.

Wearing Two Hats: Army Reserve and NFI Trucker

Kacy’s journey into transportation began soon after high school when she made the bold decision to enlist in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2019. The discipline she learned during Basic Combat Training shaped her approach to every challenge, whether she’s in uniform or behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler.

“I joined right out of high school,” Kacy remembers. Her schedule is a balancing act between drill weekends and long drives, but Kacy says she’s adapted well: “Sometimes it’s hard to balance, but I feel like I’m so used to it because I joined (the Army) at such an early age. It’s just part of me now.”

Her dual life as an Army Reservist and a professional truck driver with NFI shows how the skills from military service translate seamlessly to civilian life, especially within the logistics industry.

Discovering Life on the Road

It was a friend in the trucking industry who first introduced Kacy to the idea of driving big rigs. “He would bring me to work with him, and I was always fascinated with how it works,” she says. Watching the ins and outs of trucking sparked her interest in pursuing a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

The transition wasn’t without nerves. “I was a little bit scared at first, because I’m a small female,” Kacy shares. “But I went through basic training and made it through — and I knew this was what I wanted to do, so I was like, ‘Well, I’m going to try.’ And now, here I am!”

That determination powered her through CDL training. She started as a yard jockey, spent time with another trucking company, and then, thanks to a recommendation from a friend, officially joined NFI—as well as the SheDrives NFI community, a dedicated space for women in trucking.

Empowerment Through SheDrives NFI

Now, with over two years as a full-time professional truck driver, Kacy has found a supportive workplace culture through SheDrives. “In my previous trucking job, there were only three women, including me,” she points out. NFI’s commitment to female drivers has made a big difference, creating more opportunities for women in trucking and mentorship within the industry.

“They’re friendly. I can talk to anybody in the office,” she says, highlighting the approachable and supportive team environment at NFI.

Kacy beams with pride when she talks about life on the road: “It feels great to be a truck driver,” she says. “I show up to the stores (in my rig) and a lot of people look at me like, ‘Are YOU a truck driver? Oh my gosh, you’re doing this!” Her presence in the field serves as a visual reminder that women belong in every part of the logistics industry.

Overcoming Roadblocks

Like many professional drivers, Kacy deals with challenges that go beyond the basics of driving. Navigating heavy vehicles requires a unique skill set and a great deal of patience, not just for the truck but also for other motorists. “They don’t understand (a truck’s) stopping distance and how (much space we need) to make turns,” she explains, pointing to frequent misunderstandings from drivers of smaller vehicles.

Kacy’s experiences behind the wheel underscore the importance of good training and a level-headed approach—qualities she now brings to new female truck drivers through mentorship and example.

Guidance for Women Entering Trucking

What advice does Kacy have for other women interested in joining the world of trucking? Her answer is clear: be patient and open-minded. “Listen to all the advice other truck drivers have to give. Don’t rush. Don’t let fear take over,” she says. She also cautions new drivers not to compare themselves to others. “Also, don’t compare yourself to other truck drivers; do what works for you.”

Kacy’s journey is proof that with the right attitude, determination, and community, women can excel in careers traditionally dominated by men.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Kacy H. sets a shining example for both her fellow Reservists and for the next generation of women eager to become truck drivers. She’s made it clear that support networks like SheDrives NFI, strong mentors, and a belief in your goals are crucial for success in the world of logistics.

The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) has named Chelsea Faulkner as its July 2025 Member of the Month, recognizing her outstanding leadership, advocacy, and deep-rooted commitment to people in the trucking industry. As Director of Operations at HandledNow, Faulkner brings more than logistics expertise—she brings heart.

Her journey into trucking wasn’t something she planned. It began with a single “yes”—a leap that turned into a calling. Now, nearly five years into her role at HandledNow, Faulkner is reshaping the way relationships and leadership are viewed across the industry.

“I didn’t grow up dreaming about working in trucking,” Faulkner admits, “but I landed here for a reason.”

That reason became clear early on. One moment in particular stuck with her: a driver struggling to afford gas to get to an interview. Her team helped, no strings attached.

“We just did it because that’s what it means to show up for people,” she says.

Moments like this confirmed for Faulkner that her place in trucking wasn’t just professional—it was deeply personal.

Driving Human Connection in Trucking

For Faulkner, trucking is personal. Drivers aren’t just numbers to place; they’re people who deserve to be seen, heard, and supported.

“I have the hard conversations. I build trust,” she says. “When someone tells me what they need, I go to work.”

Her work goes far beyond operational logistics. As a certified life coach, Faulkner uses her platform to uplift and guide others, especially women, within a traditionally male-dominated space.

Championing Women in Leadership

Through her coaching and leadership at HandledNow, Faulkner advocates for more than equity—she pushes for visibility, power, and transformation.

“We’re not just here to fill quotas,” she says. “We’re here to lead, to innovate, and to change the game.”

Her mission is to create a culture where women don’t feel pressured to shrink themselves. Instead, they’re encouraged to lead boldly and unapologetically.

“I help women who are feeling stuck break through limiting beliefs and reclaim their spark,” she says.

This passion is evident in her day-to-day work. Whether she’s mentoring a woman entering the workforce or helping someone reconnect with their career goals, Faulkner is committed to making trucking and leadership more inclusive.

“I’m here to break the cycle of just doing your job,” she explains. “Get curious. Get uncomfortable. That’s where the growth is.”

Recognition and a Vision for the Future

Faulkner says she never expected recognition, but being named WIT’s Member of the Month brought her a sense of meaningful validation.

“The kind of joyful surprise that reminded me I’m exactly where I’m meant to be,” she shared.

She’s proud of the progress she’s made but knows there’s more to do.

“Whether you’re behind the wheel or a desk, you have the power to change this industry,” she says.

Her advice to others is firm and empowering:

“Don’t disqualify yourself from the table before you even sit down. Sometimes the only permission you need is your own.”

Her involvement with Women In Trucking has been a source of strength and solidarity.

The community, she says, is filled with “phenomenal, driven women” working together to build a better future.

In the coming year, Faulkner plans to grow her coaching practice, increase her speaking engagements, and continue supporting women who are navigating their roles in trucking.

“I want to be a loud, proud force for women in this industry,” she says.

Life Beyond the Industry

Outside of her professional life, Faulkner is a writer, traveler, and mother. She taught herself how to blog through her platform, The Crazy Working Mom, turning it into a creative outlet and travel journal. Her bucket list includes destinations like Scotland, Italy, Greece, and China.

She finds joy in stories—whether through music, books, or the occasional binge-watch of Bridgerton or Outer Banks. Through YouTube Music and the Libby library app, she keeps inspiration within reach.

Above all, Faulkner values connection.

“If you walk away from my story feeling empowered, feeling seen, and thinking maybe it’s time you took up a little more space, good,” she says. “Reach out. Let’s grow together in trucking, in coaching, and in life. You don’t have to do this alone.”

The Women in Trucking Association (WIT) has honored Katie Petrie as its May 2025 Member of the Month. As the Head of Human Resources at American Expediting Logistics, Petrie is redefining leadership in an industry often unseen by the public but vital to our daily lives.

With nearly a decade in the transportation and logistics sector, Petrie exemplifies a career built on deliberate growth, bold decisions, and a deeply human-centered approach to leadership.

A Unique Path to Logistics

Petrie’s first step into her career was far removed from logistics. She began at Harley Davidson, working in the luxury recreational industry. However, a deeper connection to the world of transportation grew through a graduate school internship with XTRA Lease. That experience marked a turning point, leading her to a full-time role in Missouri, focusing on talent strategy for a company operating an impressive 90,000-trailer fleet across more than 50 locations.

Petrie rose from Talent Manager to HR Director during her seven years there. She honed her strategic skills, deepened her understanding of the supply chain, and prepared herself for even greater responsibilities. By the time she joined American Expediting Logistics, she was ready to make an impact. Starting as Senior Director, she has since grown into her role as Head of HR, shaping a workplace culture centered on compassion, transparency, and strategic foresight.

Passion for a Greater Purpose

For Petrie, the work isn’t just about logistics or operations; it’s about the sector’s indispensable role in everyday life. “The supply chain is the unseen force that powers our world,” she shares. “Knowing that my work has a direct impact on the economy and on people’s lives keeps me motivated.”

Her ability to turn purpose into action has yielded impressive results. Under her leadership, her teams have secured various recognitions, including the 2024 Women in Trucking “Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation” award. Other achievements include awards for Total Rewards (2023) and Talent Development (2024) from Delaware Valley HR Excellence, reflecting Petrie’s dedication to innovative and employee-centric practices.

Resilience That Defines Success

Petrie’s career is a masterclass in resilience. Early on, she moved her family from Wisconsin to Missouri to pursue an opportunity in logistics. It was a daunting leap but one that shaped her future. “That decision required personal sacrifice,” she recalls. “But it proved to be one of the most rewarding risks I’ve ever taken.”

Mentorship, too, played a pivotal role along her path. Influential figures like Steve Bishara, Kim Berriman, and Dr. Joel Nadler helped refine her leadership style, encouraging her to think strategically and act purposefully.

A Vision for Leadership in HR

Petrie’s professional goals are as expansive as they are inspiring. Over the next year, she plans to deepen her strategic contributions at American Expediting Logistics. Looking further ahead, she envisions scaling her leadership to a larger organization while maintaining her commitment to fostering an inclusive, people-first work culture.

Her advice to women entering the logistics space is empowering and direct. “Don’t be afraid to aim high. This industry needs your ambition, perspective, and voice.” And for professionals seeking career wisdom, “Be a business partner first. Understand your area but never lose sight of the broader business goals.”

Life Beyond the Workplace

Outside of her professional life, Petrie wears many hats. A mom of four, she balances HR leadership with family life and personal interests. She stays active as a fitness enthusiast, finds joy in exploring new recipes, and fills her home with music spanning the ’70s to ’90s. Raised on a dairy farm, she cherishes family adventures and the simple magic of seeing life through her children’s eyes. “Seeing the world through my kids’ eyes is so magical,” she says.

When she’s not shaping workplace culture or spending time with family, you might find her binge-watching Navy SEALs.

HR as a Catalyst for Change

For Petrie, human resources is more than just a function within a company. It’s about driving meaningful change. “I’m passionate about building inclusive, people-focused workplaces that drive business results,” she explains. That mission has become her north star as she continues to reshape the logistics and transportation industry from within.

Petrie’s story is a remarkable example of intentional leadership, resilience, and purpose. With leaders like her, the trucking and logistics sector isn’t just moving goods; it’s creating change.

From Childhood Fascination to Industry Leadership

Christine’s passion for all things motorized began at an early age. Growing up, she was surrounded by the hum of the trucking world. Her father operated a Husqvarna saw shop located behind the iconic Jubitz Truck Stop. Coincidentally, this was just steps away from the Freightliner dealership where Christine has built her career over the past decade.

Reflecting on her early experiences, Christine shared, “The trucking industry was always coming and going in the backyard of my pre-CDL life. I had stars in my eyes pretty early on and eventually went to IITR Trucking Driving School to make it official.”

A Proven Career on the Road to Excellence

Christine kick-started her career in October 2014 at Premier Truck Group, and her impact has resonated across the dealership. She wears many hats, providing top-tier diagnostic support while assisting management, service technicians, service writers, and foremen. Her work spans across new and used sales, collision, and service departments—always ensuring exceptional customer service.

Her dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. Some of her accolades include:

Being named one of Premier Truck Group’s 2024 Winning Women

Receiving the Premier Truck Group’s Safety Excellence Coin #056

Earning an honorable mention at the Jubitz Truck Light Parade

Advice to Women in Trucking

Christine has empowering advice for women already in—or considering entering—the trucking industry.

“Do it. Always trust your intuition, be patient with yourself, believe in your greatness, be bold, and communicate with confidence. Support, don’t compete. Make a great playlist to get through it and get over it.”

Congratulations to Christine Iva Britton, WIT’s Member of the Month!

The trucking industry has long been considered a male-dominated field, but more women are stepping into the driver’s seat and redefining what it means to be a trucker. While the path may come with unique challenges, women in trucking are proving they have what it takes to succeed on the open road. From accessing valuable resources to prioritizing safety, this guide is designed to help women navigate their journey into trucking with confidence and clarity. If you’re ready to start your adventure, the Women In Trucking Association (WIT) offers a supportive community to help you every mile of the way.

Build Confidence and Assertiveness Confidence is crucial in the trucking industry. Approach your role with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or seek assistance when needed.

Utilize Available Resources Leverage the resources and support networks available to women in trucking. Organizations like the Women In Trucking Association (WIT) are dedicated to promoting the employment of women in the industry, celebrating their successes, and minimizing obstacles. Engaging with such organizations can provide valuable networking, mentorship, and educational opportunities.

Prioritize Safety Safety is paramount for all truck drivers, with additional considerations for women. Always keep your doors locked, and consider using devices like seatbelts through door handles or ratchet straps to secure doors while sleeping. Avoid displaying items that identify you as female to deter potential predators. Leaving sleeper curtains open when entering the truck allows you to check for intruders.

Develop Strong Relationships Building strong relationships with your company, customers, and fellow drivers can enhance your experience and success in the industry. Positive interactions can lead to better support, opportunities, and a more enjoyable work environment.

Seek Mentorship and Community Connecting with other women in the industry can provide support, advice, and camaraderie. Engage with communities and forums where female truckers share experiences and tips. Mentorship from experienced drivers can offer guidance and encouragement as you navigate your career.

Maintain Work-Life Balance Strive for a work-life balance that suits your personal needs. Some companies offer flexible work arrangements to help drivers achieve this balance. It’s important to find a schedule that allows you to maintain your well-being both on and off the road.

Continuous Learning and Adaptability The trucking industry is continually evolving. Stay informed about new regulations, technologies, and best practices. Continuous learning and adaptability will enhance your skills and keep you competitive in the field.

By embracing these strategies, women entering the trucking industry can build successful and rewarding careers. Joining WIT is a great step toward finding a community of like-minded professionals who are eager to help you thrive.
