The White House has declared a new plan for training and recruiting new truck drivers to solve the driver shortage problem as well as the US supply chain problems that have been brought on by the covid pandemic. The Truck Action Plan fact sheet states, “Trucking plays a critical role in the U.S. supply chain and economy. America’s truck drivers have been on the frontlines of this pandemic, delivering goods to every corner of this country.” Funding and resources would be provided to states to speed up the commercial license process, improve registered apprenticeship programs and increase veteran recruitment numbers.
