2022 top 100 for-hire carriers list illustrates growth of large fleets

Transport Topics just released their edition of this year’s top 100 For-Hire Carriers list. Most of the carriers included on this year’s list have reported year-over-year revenue increases in 2021. Recruitment and retention efforts have also helped the industry maintain drivers. With persistent supply chain constraints and high inflation the industry is still subject to other challenges, but the carriers chosen for this list have already proven their ability to adapt to challenges and keep their freight moving. The top two positions are held by UPS Inc. and FedEx Corp., with XPO Logistics in third. Transport Topics reported that the last two in the top 5 were “J.B. Hunt Transport Services checking in at No. 4 and Canadian trucking conglomerate TFI International at No. 5. TFI greatly expanded its LTL operations through its purchase of UPS’s freight division in April 2021”.

With mergers and acquisitions continuing to alter the transportation industry the competitive landscape is shifting with it. Ten new companies joined the list this year. Click here to check out the full list!
