Now in its fifth year, this prestigious award honors outstanding female professional drivers who not only excel in safety standards but actively contribute to enhancing the public perception of the trucking industry.
Open to all female drivers, nominations are geared toward individuals who showcase a commitment to safety on the road and make positive contributions to both the trucking industry and their communities. Nominations can be submitted until Jan. 29. Click here to submit a nomination.
“It’s a joy to celebrate and honor drivers each year through the Women in Trucking Driver of the Year award,” said Jennifer Hedrick, WIT president and CEO. “Recognizing the value that female drivers bring to the trucking profession is a key mission of WIT and we’re pleased to showcase their stories year after year.”
The finalists and ultimate awardee will be celebrated at the 2024 Salute to Women Behind the Wheel event, taking place during the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Ken., on Friday, March 22. The winner will be selected based on her impressive safety record, impactful community contributions, and her influence on shaping the public image of the trucking profession.
Emphasizing the significance of female representation in the industry, the initiative recognizes the invaluable role that women play in trucking. As diversity and inclusion become increasingly important, having female truck drivers not only promotes equality but also contributes to a more comprehensive and thriving trucking community. The recipient of the award will be honored with a plaque, a commemorative ring, and additional recognition for her outstanding contributions.
