A lucky truck driver from Fairfield just made a major haul after buying an inexpensive scratch-off lottery ticket. The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, stopped off for lunch at the Sparta Truck Stop and ended up claiming $50k! We can all dream of using our breaks as wisely as this individual did.
“I noticed a lottery banner outside the store advertising a $50,000 winner and thought that would be cool,” he said in a release. “I thought, ‘I’m feeling pretty good today.’ So, I got money out of the ATM and bought a ticket.”
When he scratched the first spot, he was happy to learn he won $500.
“I was happy and content with that,” he said. “I kept going when I scratched off two more $500 wins but then I saw $10,000. It took me a second to process.”
When all was said, done, and scratched, he realized he’d won $50,000.
“My goal was $500, so I couldn’t be happier,” he said. “Every time I think about it, I can’t believe it.”
The lucky trucker received an extra boost to his bank account in the form of a $35,750 check after taxes–money that he plans on using towards some home improvements.
It’s a win for Sparta Truck Stop as well as the location will receive $500 for selling the ticket.
