The U.S. Department of Transportation has set an official date for the fourth meeting of the Women in Trucking Advisory Board and it’s just around the corner.
On Monday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern, the virtual meeting will take place, giving everyone the opportunity to be a part of this gathering. The meeting is open to the public, allowing anyone with an interest in the trucking industry to join.
This meeting is set to highlight training and mentorship, two crucial pillars in empowering and advancing women in the trucking field. With an agenda packed with insightful discussions, valuable insights, and inspiring speakers, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
The following topics will be discussed during the meeting:
- Opportunities to enhance trucking training, mentorship, education, and advancement and outreach programs that would increase the number of women in the industry.
- “Agency experts and those in the field under discussion” will share insights for the board’s consideration.
- Opportunity for public participation.

About the Board
Established by Congress in the 2021 infrastructure law, this board aims to address the vital issue of gender diversity in the trucking industry. Their mission is to provide expert recommendations to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) on effective strategies for recruiting and retaining more women in this field.
“Women are significantly underrepresented in the trucking industry, holding only 24% of all transportation jobs,” FMCSA Administrator Robin Hutcheson said in a news release. “We anticipate many great ideas from the advisory board that will help expand equity and safely provide access to careers in trucking for women across the industry.”
