J.B. Hunt Transport Inc. has been honored with the James Prout Spirit of Giving Award by Wreaths Across America (WAA). The award was presented during the organization’s 10th Annual Stem to Stone event held in Maine, where WAA is headquartered.

Named after James Prout, the owner of Blue Bird Ranch Trucking of Maine, the award recognizes individuals, companies, or organizations that make a lasting impact on charitable causes. Prout was the first volunteer to transport wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery when the program was just starting.

J.B. Hunt has a strong commitment to honoring fallen heroes, and their support of WAA’s mission is a testament to that. The company played a crucial role in transporting sponsored wreaths across the country in 2022. With 42 shipments, 32 of which were intermodal loads, J.B. Hunt utilized rail transportation to deliver the wreaths to the West Coast. This not only saved on over-the-road load capacity and cost but also required support from rail partners BNSF and Norfolk Southern.

This recognition highlights J.B. Hunt’s dedication to serving the community and the impact they have made.

“This will be J.B. Hunt’s 10th consecutive year to participate in Wreaths Across America, and each year it sparks a lot of excitement among our employees,” said Brad Hicks, executive vice president of Highway Services and People at J.B. Hunt. “Supporting our veterans is a privilege, and it’s important that we remember their sacrifices made to preserve our freedoms. We are very humbled to receive this special recognition from Wreaths Across America and look forward to continuing this tradition.”

The trucking industry plays a crucial role in ensuring that WAA can fulfill its mission by delivering to over 4,000 participating locations nationwide every December.

“Without the transportation community and companies like J.B. Hunt, who provide generous donations of time, equipment and services, our mission simply would not be possible,” said Karen Worcester, Executive Director of WAA. “The work that our Honor Fleet partners do year-round encourages new participation and support for the mission, not only in their organization but in the industry. They are true friends, for which we are grateful.”
