An October 6–8 commercial vehicle enforcement operation along Interstate 40 near Flagstaff, Arizona, placed 110 vehicles and drivers out of service, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS).
Arizona Highway Patrol troopers and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) conducted the three-day operation as part of the Arrive Alive Arizona Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Detail.
During the operation, officers completed 263 commercial vehicle inspections and 195 weight checks. The department reported that 110 unsafe vehicles and drivers were removed from service, although it did not specify how many of those orders involved vehicles versus individual drivers.
Inspectors also issued 80 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) decals to vehicles that met the applicable inspection requirements. These decals indicate that a vehicle passed a qualifying inspection without critical vehicle inspection item violations.
AZDPS shared the enforcement results earlier this week. The department did not provide a breakdown of the specific violations that led to the out-of-service orders.
