Hold onto your wallets because diesel prices are on the rise yet again. In a recent surge, the national average for diesel has shot up by 22.2 cents, in just one week, bringing the cost to a whopping $4.127 per gallon, as reported by the Energy Information Administration on July 31.

The national average diesel price has soared past $4 per gallon, marking the largest weekly increase since March 14, 2022. In the past two weeks alone, diesel prices have gone up by 32.1 cents.

This consecutive rise hasn’t been seen since January; however, diesel is still $1.011 cheaper on average compared to this time last year.

The price hikes were felt across the country, with all 10 regions experiencing an increase in the average diesel price. The Midwest saw the highest jump of 29.1 cents, while New England had the lowest increase of 6.1 cents.

It’s not just diesel – the national average price for a gallon of gasoline also saw a significant increase, rising 16.1 cents to settle at $3.757.
