Diesel Prices Surge: National Average Reaches $4.475 per Gallon

Diesel prices continue to climb, with a recent increase of 8.6 cents per gallon, bringing the national average to $4.475. This marks the sixth consecutive week of price hikes, leaving trucking fuel just 64 cents lower than last year.

The cost of diesel has risen in all 10 regions examined by EIA, with the West Coast-less-California region seeing the highest increase at 17.9 cents per gallon, while New England only experienced a slight increase of 1.9 cents per gallon. Over the course of six weeks, diesel prices have surged by 66.9 cents per gallon.

These current prices have not been seen since the first week of February. In contrast, the national average price for a gallon of gasoline has actually decreased by 5.5 cents, now standing at $3.813 per gallon.
