Dolly Parton Remembered Following Opening of Tennessee Travel Center

Dolly Parton is being remembered following her passing just weeks after opening Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop along Interstate 65 in Cornersville, Tennessee.

Country music icon, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dolly Parton is being remembered following her passing at the age of 80, which came just weeks after she celebrated the opening of a new travel center bearing her name in Tennessee.

Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop Opens in Tennessee

In late June, Parton attended the grand opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop off Interstate 65 in Cornersville, Tennessee. The location was formerly known as the Tennessean Travel Stop before being rebranded through her partnership.

During the opening ceremony, Parton said the travel center was created with truck drivers, families, and other travelers in mind.

“Well, the doors are open, and I could not be prouder. Whether you are hauling loads, hauling the family, or just passing through, we built this place for you. Good food, real rest, a little music, and people who are genuinely glad you stopped in. That’s what the road has always deserved, and that is what you will find here. Welcome home.”

She explained that her years spent traveling as an entertainer inspired her to become involved with the project and create a welcoming place for people spending time on the road.

Family Reflects on Her Legacy

Following her passing, Parton’s family released a statement describing her legacy of music, philanthropy and service to others.

“Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.”

A Lasting Stop Along Interstate 65

The opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop became one of Parton’s final public appearances, and the Interstate 65 location now stands as part of her lasting connection to travelers and the professional drivers who pass through Tennessee each day.
