A truck driver is being hailed as a hero after saving the life of a toddler found wandering alone on the streets in just a diaper and a t-shirt.

Robert Delaplain, who was on his regular route, sprang into action to rescue the child and contacted the authorities.

Although the mother is not facing any charges, the incident serves as a reminder to ensure the safety and well-being of young children at all times.

Thanks to Delaplain’s quick thinking, the little one is now safe and sound.

It almost felt unreal,” Delaplain said. “I turn the corner and there is this child in the road. It scared me.”

The driver said his dad instincts immediately kicked in and he knew he needed to help the tyke.

“I immediately stopped and hit my flashers,” Delaplain said. “It just kicked in. I am a parent and always watching my kids.”

Delaplain didn’t leave the boy’s side until local police arrived.

“I guess he was just going for an adventure or a walk,” Delaplain said.

A young boy’s resourcefulness led to his escape from home. Police revealed that he used a toy to reach the front door, then walked about six blocks through challenging terrain and a busy street.

Fortunately, Delaplain stepped in to help.

According to police, the child had never attempted to leave home before, making his adventure all the more surprising.

Assistant Police Chief, Larry Gilleland, expressed gratitude for Delaplain’s intervention.
