Residents of Auglaize County, OH are recovering from a destructive EF1 tornado which swept through the area last week, leaving shattered homes and workplaces in its wake.
When severe storms hit the town of Wapakoneta, Mark Hart was snoozing in his rig at the TA truck stop.
“I heard the rain and I thought I’d be able to get a good night of sleep. But next thing I know, I heard a loud boom. I didn’t know what it was,” Hart said.
A moment later, his truck was moving.
“I heard a loud crash. It was my windshield. And I saw another truck rolling down the street that was turned over. I looked and I saw another truck that had turned over. And then I felt my truck being picked up and moved over into the next truck,” Hart recalled.
He realized he was caught in the tornado and he was scared for his life.
“At that time, I was really praying, it was very frightening. I just thank God that I’m here,” he said.
Thankfully, it was over as quickly as it started, and Hart made it out unscathed. He was able to get his windshield repaired before heading back to Indiana. He is just one of many people sorting through the aftermath of the storm.
