DriverFacts is on a Mission On and Off the Field

DriverFacts works with Orange Lutheran High School and Big Creek Missions to serve Appalachian communities

DriverFacts recently helped support the charitable efforts of Orange Lutheran High School and Big Creek Missions as they traveled to the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky, providing service and aid to communities there.

A team of 170 volunteers participated in a range of meaningful projects aimed at helping local communities. DriverFacts President and CEO Dave Widly and his wife Lori have been strong supporters and often participants in these efforts for 14 years, consistently contributing their time and leadership to the cause. Projects included construction work, food distributions, weatherizing homes, and visits to elder care facilities, all intended to improve the lives of people living in this underserved area.

Since 2016, DriverFacts has funded shipping 150-200 pieces of luggage and supplies with a generous discount from Old Dominion. By donating time and money, DriverFacts has helped make these outreach trips possible, enabling volunteers to deliver much-needed resources and support to those in need.

“Providing services and aid to communities in need is a humbling experience for our team,” said Widly. “It’s an honor to partner with organizations like Orange Lutheran Missions and Big Creek to make a positive difference in this beautiful area of the country. This work can’t happen without support from companies like Old Dominion, which discount the shipping charges.” Big Creek Missions, which was started in 2003 by a group of students and leaders from churches in East Tennessee, has worked tirelessly to offer affordable, impactful mission trips for individuals and groups. The organization’s primary goal is to provide heart-changing, eye-opening experiences for those willing to serve the Appalachian people, while meeting tangible needs within the community.

Kevin Rogers, founder and director of Big Creek Missions, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing partnership: “We are so grateful for organizations like Orange Lutheran High School, which consistently send volunteers and workers, and are very thankful for DriverFacts and Old Dominion, whose support helps make it possible. The work we do together significantly impacts the lives of the people in this region, and we couldn’t do it without the dedication of all the volunteers and partners who join in this important mission.”
