Navistar now offers Allison fully automatic transmissions in International trucks featuring the S13 engine.

This collaboration between Allison Transmission and International Truck introduces the Allison 3414 Regional Haul Series (RHS) for ordering in International RH trucks equipped with the S13 engine. The Allison 4000 Series is also now orderable in S13-equipped International HX trucks.

With the launch of the S13 engine, Navistar recognized the demand for diverse powertrain options. To that end, it has responded by integrating Allison’s fully automatic transmissions into International’s RH and HX platforms.

Allison said that this combination, alongside the Navistar S13 engine, provides customers with two high-performance solutions boasting superior acceleration and optimized efficiency.

“We are proud to collaborate with International Truck to pair both the 3414 RHS and 4000 Series fully automatic transmissions with the Navistar S13 engine for an industry-leading driving experience,” said Rohan Barua, Vice President, North America Sales, Global Channel and Aftermarket at Allison Transmission. “Specifically, the 3414 RHS fully automatic transmission offers increased horsepower and a lighter weight, translating into more deliveries, more loads, and more productivity.”

Since its introduction with the Navistar A26 engine in 2020, 3414 RHS-equipped International RH trucks have garnered interest from major fleets across North America, including prominent wholesale food distributors. The transmission has also seen uptake among regional food and beverage distribution fleets.

The 3414 RHS is tailored to enhance vehicle handling and maneuverability in urban duty cycles, delivering superior performance and efficiency. Compared to the Allison 3000 Highway Series transmission, it improves fuel economy by up to 8%. Additionally, it eliminates downtime typically associated with automated manual transmissions (AMTs) by circumventing the need for clutch replacements.
