Kenworth, FASTPORT, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes initiative are thrilled to join forces once again to honor military veterans who have seamlessly transitioned to successful careers in the trucking industry.
Nominations are now open for the Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence award, so get your nominations in before July 31, because you don’t want to miss out on this year’s prize.
Kenworth, in celebration of its 100th anniversary, will once again be presenting the top award for the “Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence” program. This year’s prize is an impressive T680 Signature Edition Anniversary truck. The T680 Signature Edition boasts a spacious 76-inch sleeper and is powered by the reliable PACCAR Powertrain, featuring the high-performance PACCAR MX-13 engine with 455 horsepower, a PACCAR TX-12 automated transmission, and PACCAR DX-40 tandem rear axles.
To qualify, drivers must meet eligibility requirements as specified in the official Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award rules, including:
- Be a legal resident of the continental United States and a military veteran or current/former member of the National Guard or Reserves
- Graduated from PTDI-certified, NAPFTDS or CVTA member driver training school, with a valid CDL
- Have been employed by any for-hire carrier or private fleet that has pledged to hire veterans and hired as a CDL driver after January 1, 2022.
The top 10 semi-finalists will be unveiled on Sept. 1. These standout individuals will be treated to a trip to Columbus, Ohio where they will have the opportunity to explore the National Veterans Memorial and Museum and attend a special reception. They will also visit the renowned Kenworth Chillicothe manufacturing plant and MHC Road Ready Center.
It is at this location that the top three finalists will be announced. Excitement continues to build as public voting for these finalists begins on Oct. 27 and lasts for two weeks.
Mark your calendars for Dec. 15, when the finalists will come together at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce where the final award announcement will take place, and the grand prize winner will have the incredible opportunity to drive home in style in the Kenworth T680 Signature Edition.
