A distinguished Marine Corps veteran is all set to receive a brand-new 2022 Freightliner Cascadia truck in Houston, Texas. This award is part of Progressive Insurance’s esteemed Keys to Progress initiative, now in its twelfth year.

Commitment to Veterans

Karen Bailo, Progressive’s commercial lines president, reflects on the program’s impact, stating, “We are celebrating the 12th year of our Keys to Progress program in November and our third semi-truck giveaway—and our impact only continues to grow. We are committed to giving back to our veterans who have given so much to our country. This program not only helps to shape the lives of veterans but also gives them the tools and ability to grow their small businesses. We are proud to be a part of an initiative that is critical to accelerating their journey.”

Spotlight on a Veteran

Retired Gunnery Sergeant Ondrae Meyers, a 22-year veteran from Jacksonville, NC, is the recipient of this year’s semi-truck. Having served in USMC Motor Transport, his military experience sparked a long-standing passion for truck driving. After retiring, Sgt. Meyers acquired his CDL through the “Troops in Transportation” program, aiming to transition from driving to owning a trucking business.

Acknowledgment

Reflecting on the opportunity, Meyers shared, “What started as a passion of seeing countries around the world and in the United States from behind the wheel can be turned into providing for my family. I am so grateful to this program for allowing me to get my fleet and career started.”

Past Recipients

This program has previously helped veterans like James Rogers and Lt. Colonel James “JC” Rose expand their trucking businesses, thanks to partnerships with organizations such as SelecTrucks of Houston, 1-800-Charity Cars, and Veracity Research Co. Investigations.

These collaborations ensure deserving veterans receive these life-changing gifts, which are part of Progressive’s broader mission to drive progress and support veterans through reliable transportation.
