The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has recognized Michael Rohn, a skilled truck driver hailing from Griggsville, IL, as a true Highway Angel. His courageous act of stopping to aid the passengers of a van that had just crashed in front of him on the road has earned him well-deserved praise. Michael works for Angie’s Transportation, based in St. Louis, MO.
It was on June 3, 2023, around 9:30 a.m., when Michael found himself traveling on Interstate 40 in Bowie, AZ. In a split second, he witnessed a van in front of him experience a blown tire, resulting in a frightening roll.
“I stopped and when I got there, the driver was a little dazed and confused,” Rohn said. “We got her out, but another passenger was trapped, and they had a child that we pulled through the window.”
Rohn provided aid and comfort to the injured passenger who was trapped in the vehicle until first responders arrived. He then assisted the first responders in safely extracting the male passenger from the van. Additionally, Rohn ensured the wellbeing of five dogs that were also in the vehicle, ensuring they all made it out safely.
“If it was me, I’d want somebody to help me,” Rohn said, as to why he went to such lengths to assist the crash victims.
