National Carriers Inc. (NCI) is celebrating its top drivers after announcing the 2024 Drivers of the Month for July, August, and September. Recognized for their dedication, professionalism, and excellence, Glendol Moody, Joel Rosado, and April Celestine now have the chance to compete for one of the company’s highest honors—2024 Driver of the Year.
Recognizing Excellence
All three honorees received a $1,000 bonus for their achievement, with the coveted Driver of the Year winner set to receive an additional $10,000. Here’s a closer look at their stories and what motivates these exceptional drivers.
Glendol Moody – July Driver of the Month
Based in Texas, Glendol Moody joined NCI in October 2019 as a company driver in the 48-state fleet. Moody’s dedication to his role quickly earned him a place as one of the leading driver trainers in the “Elite” fleet.
“I am born and raised in the state of Texas,” said Moody. “My dad was a trucker, and I fell in love with it early on. In 1997 I began my career in the industry. When I researched coming to work at National Carriers, lead recruiter, Jerritt Judie, was straightforward with me with no BS. He promised the company would not be perfect, but everyone would try their hardest to make things work.”
Moody credits much of his success to his relationship with his driver manager, Paul Whitley. “We have a cordial and honest relationship. He’s the best dispatcher I have ever had,” he said.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Moody has found passion in training new drivers. “I have a teacher mentality, and I enjoy watching my students achieve,” he explained. “I don’t expect perfection and set clear expectations at the start. That removes stress for the student and allows them to focus on learning as they drive.”
Joel Rosado – August Driver of the Month
Joel Rosado, a resident of New Brunswick, New Jersey, has been with NCI since 2018. Working as a local dedicated driver on the East Coast, Rosado handles critical deliveries across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania with professionalism and precision.
“Joel is our local dedicated driver on the East Coast,” said Mark Phillips, NCI’s vice president of Refrigerated Operations. “This award for him is long overdue. Joel is always professional and willing to do what is needed to complete the task at hand. He safely and efficiently operates in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Simply put, he is a true professional. We appreciate Joel.”
Rosado’s knowledge of the Greater New York area has made him indispensable on specialized routes. What started as a focus on one customer’s needs has expanded into a vital service for many clients.
“I chose National Carriers because the company isn’t too big or too small,” Rosado said. “During orientation, everything just felt right. The best thing about working here is that everyone is on a first-name basis. ‘Elite’ fleet drivers not familiar with the metro can drop their loaded trailers while I complete our customer deliveries. This is less stressful for both incoming drivers and me. I know the neighborhoods, and I know what needs done. I appreciate National Carriers recognizing me with this award.”
April Celestine – September Driver of the Month
Hailing from Louisiana, April Celestine joined the “Elite” fleet in October 2018. Her current role involves delivering refrigerated products to customers across the Midwest and Eastern states.
“This recognition is well deserved,” said Aaron Donbar, Celestine’s driver manager. “She has an ‘in it, to win it’ attitude. April is a team player who has her head on straight and stays focused. She is professional and does a damn good job.”
Having grown up with trucking in her blood, Celestine’s passion for the road runs deep. “My granddad on my mother’s side was a trucker; my dad was a trucker,” Celestine shared. “In 2004, I earned my Class-A CDL and became a trucker. Before my CDL, I used to watch trucks on Interstate 10 and wonder where they were going. I enjoy seeing the United States, and I only have one state left to visit.”
Being named Driver of the Month was a pleasant surprise for Celestine.
Congratulations to Glendol, Joel, and April for their outstanding achievements!
