At the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky on March 31st, Angelique Temple was presented with a 2018 Volvo VNL670. Donated by Arrow Truck Sales and awarded to her by Women In Trucking, this truck is complete with an efficient Volvo engine and double-bunk sleeper. This marks the second such truck giveaway from WIT within the past five years.
With over two decades of experience under her belt, Temple has become a veritable expert in the trucking industry. She’s gone from hauling hazardous materials to creating Tornado Transport LLC – an expansive business that deals with everything from dry foods and medical supplies to inspirationally empowering young girls by introducing them to professional driving opportunities at high school career days. The acquisition of this additional truck will further enable Temple’s growing enterprise as she continues making waves on the highway.
Temple has been an exemplary member of the WIT Image Team since 2015. She is often sought out for her expertise, having granted multiple interviews and speaking at various events around the country. Her impressive work was recently acknowledged with induction into Howes Hall of Fame; on top of that she now serves as one of FMCSA’s new ambassadors in their Our Roads, Our Safety program. In addition to all these professional accomplishments, Temple actively gives back to those less fortunate – through volunteering at food kitchens or providing Christmas gifts for families in need.
“I’m still in shock that I won this truck,” Temple said. “Having this truck will expand my capabilities in my business and also will give me the ability to regularly talk with women about getting into the industry through events, my social media accounts, radio interviews, and conversations about new opportunities in trucking.”
Last fall, WIT saw an incredible number of applications for its 2023 Truck Giveaway. From a pool of more than 30 candidates who met their requirements – including being at least 23 years old, having a valid commercial driver’s license and membership with WIT- applicants submitted thoughtful essays on why it is important to draw female individuals into trucking.
Thanks to generous donors, the truck package will include a wide variety of enhanced features. From fuel efficient tires from Michelin to driver essentials from Imperial Supplies and even keyless entry systems provided by Irdeto – not to mention $1,000 gift cards courtesy of Exxon Mobile and Mobil Delvac. Plus, added extras ranging from Howes Products’ year’s supply all the way through Blue Beacon 6 free washes, National Truck Protection extended warranty cover & Rand McNally’s TND 750 GPS device – this is one seriously loaded package, going to a deserving driver.
