As we approach Brake Safety Week organized by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), from August 25 to August 31, it’s crucial to ensure that your vehicles are fully prepared for inspection. This week-long initiative aims to promote adherence to safety regulations, elevate awareness about brake systems, and gather crucial data related to brake issues in commercial vehicles.

CVSA-certified inspectors will be conducting thorough inspections on commercial motor vehicles, with a particular emphasis on the integrity of brake systems and their crucial components. Vehicles discovered with any brake-related violations will be temporarily banned from the roads until necessary repairs are completed to ensure safety.

New This Year

This year, inspectors will pay special attention to brake linings and pads. Any shortfalls in these areas can lead to violations, substantially affecting a carrier’s safety rating. For further specifics regarding this year’s targeted focus, take a moment to check out the Focus Area details by clicking here. Additionally, in select regions, performance-based brake testers (PBBTs) will be integrated into inspections. These advanced machines assess how well a vehicle’s braking system performs.
