Semi-Truck Rollover Causes Lane Shut Down on Route 53 Near Palatine

According to CBS News, Traffic was backed up on Route 53 near Palatine following a crash that caused a semi-truck to roll over. Northbound traffic was diverted at Kirchhoff Road.

Kris Habermehl from CBS tweeted that it was a big mess for drivers who were Northbound on Route 53 near Arlington Heights and Palatine. All the northbound traffic was forced off at Kirchhoff due to this accident with the semi.

The semi rolled over early morning last Friday.

First responders were first on site. After fire and EMS left the scene, troopers waited for heavy hooks to turn the semi upright. There were major delays on the highway. The heavy lifting took place less than an hour later. It took a while to get it hooked for hauling but finally was ready to go. According to the same CBS report, the damaged semi was hauled away to a junkyard after clearing the highway. There was originally some spill from the trailer, but only some dry oil remains. All lanes reopened later that day.
