Registration is now underway for one of the most recognized truck beauty competitions in the country, with Shell Rotella SuperRigs set to return for its 44th year.

This year’s event will take place June 25 through June 27 at Bristol Motor Speedway, a venue widely known as “The Last Great Colosseum.” The location is no stranger to large-scale events, hosting everything from major racing series to football matchups and concerts. It also features one of the largest outdoor center-hung four-sided video screens in the world, along with an on-site campground for attendees.

Those planning to enter will want to move quickly. Early registration gives participants access to a reserved parking space and the ability to choose a preferred judging time, according to event organizers.

Sign-ups will stay open until 4 p.m. Central on June 26, or until the field reaches its 125-truck limit, whichever comes first.

The competition continues to draw attention across the trucking world, known for highlighting both appearance and the work behind the wheel. According to a news release, SuperRigs remains one of the industry’s premier events, bringing together the best-looking and hardest-working trucks on the road.

Participants this year will be competing for more than just recognition. The event will award over $25,000 in cash and prizes across more than 20 categories, including the top honor of Best of Show.

In addition, 12 drivers will earn a spot in the 2027 Shell Rotella SuperRigs Calendar, a feature that has become a goal for many entrants over the years.

The event is open to the public and designed to be family-friendly, offering a chance for attendees to get up close with custom rigs and meet the people behind them.

Winners in each category will be selected by a panel of judges, while the Shell Rotella team will determine which trucks make it into the annual calendar.

With limited entry spots and added incentives for early sign-up, this year’s show is expected to fill quickly as anticipation builds for Bristol.

Kenny Ziglar’s 2007 Peterbilt 379, known as “Scrapin’ By,” has officially claimed the top honor at this year’s Shell Rotella SuperRigs truck show, held at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia.

Despite two days of tough weather, Rawlins, Wyoming-based fleet owner Kenny Ziglar and his fellow competitors pushed through, keeping their rigs spotless and show-ready. By the weekend’s end, Ziglar’s rig had captured the 2025 SuperRigs Best of Show title—along with a $10,000 prize from Shell Rotella.

His polished Peterbilt didn’t stop there—it also secured second place in the Best Lights category, proving it’s just as impressive after dark.

Ziglar wasn’t a new face to the scene. As Overdrive noted, “When Overdrive first caught up with Ziglar at the 2024 Stars, Stripes and White Lines truck show last fall… Ziglar hadn’t yet updated his interior. Since that early-November show, though, it’s got a complete upgrade, as shown here.”

Mary Elliott, an 89-year-old from McDonough, Georgia, added a special touch to this year’s Shell Rotella SuperRigs event. After catching the event’s buzz on local news Friday morning, Elliott decided to attend Friday night’s festivities at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The annual event brought the community from Hampton and McDonough together to enjoy an impressive truck light show, live music, fireworks, and a display of remarkable rigs.

Drawn by the Beauty of Truck Designs

SuperRigs, a yearly celebration of hardworking truckers and their dazzling rigs, showcases competitions in categories such as Best Chrome, Best Lights, and Best of Show. Attendees are treated to more than just aesthetic appeal, with over $25,000 in cash and prizes awarded. Winners also have the chance to be featured in the Shell Rotella SuperRigs Calendar, complete with creative settings from Atlanta.

For Elliott, it was the artful paint designs on the trucks that first captured her attention.

“I saw that paint and it was done so beautifully on all of these trucks,” she shared with enthusiasm.

Elliott, who worked for an automotive paint company for 25 years before retiring in 1999, was enthralled by the craftsmanship on display.

Surprised by a Sense of Community

While Elliott came for the trucks, what surprised and delighted her most was the opportunity to connect with truck drivers at the event.

“I didn’t know I would get to meet drivers,” she said. “It has been a wonderful evening.”

Although the event had been plagued by poor weather earlier, including a nearby tornado that touched down east of the Speedway, Elliott’s adventurous spirit wasn’t dampened. Instead, she embraced the experience wholeheartedly.

An Adventurer at Heart

Elliott’s love of exploration is deeply ingrained in her life. She has visited 25 countries and 47 U.S. states, recently returning from a trip to Greece and Turkey. Her travels have been a mix of personal adventures and mission work with the Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief and Builders for Christ.

When Shell Rotella staff learned of Elliott’s presence, they made her visit extra special. They provided her with a golf cart to easily move around and explore the nearly 50 trucks on display.

“Everybody is so welcoming,” Elliott remarked, adding, “It just seems like you are in a family reunion.”

A Night to Remember

For Elliott, the Shell Rotella SuperRigs event was far more than a showcase of trucks; it was an evening filled with artistry, adventure, and connection. Events like these highlight the vibrant community within the trucking industry, a family bound by hard work, passion, and camaraderie.

Can’t make it to Atlanta? No problem. This beloved category invites truckers from across North America to showcase their prized rigs online and make their mark. Fans, friends, and family can all participate by voting for their favorite truck. What’s more, each vote doubles as a good deed. For every vote cast, $1 will be donated to the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, an organization dedicated to supporting truck drivers in times of need.

Chad Roberson’s Journey to Recover His Dad’s 2000 Kenworth W900

At just 49 years old, Chad Roberson, a third-generation truck driver from Fairfield, Illinois, has spent his life behind the wheel. But his connection to trucking goes deeper than just a profession—it’s a family legacy. Chad’s grandfather drove until he was 82, and his father, Everett, hauled loads until he passed away at the age of 67. For Chad, these big rigs have always been more than just vehicles; they’re a family tradition.

“I was raised around trucks since I was a kid, since I was born, and dad always had semis, and I was always in one,” he said.

Chad got his commercial freedom by officially starting Chad Roberson Trucking in 1994. Today, he works with a 2019 Kenworth T680, primarily hauling food and produce to Walmart distribution centers across the Midwest. However, this modern workhorse isn’t the truck closest to his heart. That honor goes to the 2000 Kenworth W900 his father owned before passing away in 2007.

The Truck That Got Away

Everett’s 2000 Kenworth W900 wasn’t just any truck—its bright yellow paint, chosen by Chad’s mother, Marsha, made it iconic. Marsha, who loved yellow roses, passed in 2004, and Everett followed three years later due to colon cancer. At that time, Everett still had money left to pay on the rig. Struggling with grief, Chad told the bank to “do what you gotta do with it,” and the truck was sold.

For years, the W900 disappeared into the distance, until a serendipitous moment in 2022 changed everything.

A Sign from Above

While attending the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, Chad’s wife asked him about his dad’s truck. “It had a lot of sentimental value,” he admitted. “This truck is on my mom and dad’s tombstone.”

Back home, scrolling idly through Facebook Marketplace, Chad stumbled upon a listing for a yellow Kenworth W900. Instantly, he recognized the model. “Just by the pinstriping, I could tell it was my dad’s truck,” Chad said. While his wife was skeptical, the telltale signs—yellow paint, a Signature 600 Cummins engine, and purple fenders added after its sale—confirmed his suspicions.

“I really think a lot that somebody upstairs had a lot to do with this,” he said. After reaching out to the seller, Chad confirmed the truck’s VIN and learned it had traveled through a few owners before ending up on Facebook Marketplace. Fate was on his side; the listing had only been live for 30 minutes when he spotted it.

Within two weeks, Chad was on a plane to Medford, Oregon, where he finalized the purchase. “They picked me up, and I drove the truck home,” he said.

A Restorative Labor of Love

Once back in Illinois, the first step was ensuring the truck was roadworthy. “That truck was away from us for 15 years … and the guy had only put like 300,000 miles on it in 15 years,” Chad said, amazed at its condition. After driving the W900 for a year, he decided to restore it.

“Cosmetically, I put in new stacks, replaced tanks, and dressed it out real nice,” he explained. Now, the key decision rests on the paint scheme. Should he stick with the yellow Marsha loved or go with his personal preference for black and incorporate yellow accents as a tribute?

“Mom chose that beautiful yellow because of her love for yellow roses,” Chad reflected. “If I do change it, I’ll still keep that color in the frame or somewhere special.”

Carrying the Legacy Forward

For Chad, restoring the W900 isn’t just about memory—it’s about showcasing his family’s legacy in the trucking industry. One of Chad’s father’s dreams was to make it into the Shell Rotella calendar. Now, Chad hopes to complete the truck’s restoration and enter it into the Shell Rotella SuperRigs show.

“That would be the icing on the cake,” Chad said. “Dad was the definition of a true truck driver’s truck driver. Everyone knew it.”

Keeping the Heart of a Family Alive

Today, the W900 symbolizes more than just sentimental value; it represents hard work, dedication, and the enduring love of family. “This truck stays in the family until I die,” Chad stated.

With every mile it travels, Chad Roberson’s W900 serves as a rolling tribute to two generations of truck drivers who made their mark one road at a time. For Chad, it’s not just about the truck—it’s about honoring the extraordinary lives that came before him.

And if the W900 does make it to the Shell Rotella calendar? That would be more than just a win—it would be a legacy fulfilled.
