Recently, the Women In Trucking Association (WIT) announced a major upgrade to the custom driving simulator inside its WITney® Educational Trailer, adding more realistic training features and improving speed and setup efficiency.
Since its debut in 2020, the WITney® trailer has been a staple at industry events and school visits across the country, offering a hands-on look at the skills professional drivers use daily. The centerpiece? A fully immersive simulator that lets you “drive” a rig through real-world scenarios, from tight loading docks to bad-weather highway conditions. Now, according to WIT, that simulator is faster, smarter, and more versatile than ever.
“The simulator experience continues to be the ‘star’ of any event and gives WIT the opportunity to engage with members, young people, and others curious about trucking,” said Jenny Fall, Director of Driver Engagement at WIT. “With the most state-of-the-art equipment and the continued support of companies like ATS, we are able to make an impact and share our mission even further each and every year.”
The simulator upgrade was made possible through an ongoing partnership with Advanced Training Systems (ATS), a Florida-based company specializing in virtual simulation and training tools for the trucking industry.
“ATS is proud of the partnership we have shared with Women In Trucking for several years,” said Rebecca Hudson, President of ATS. “Our missions align in wanting to create opportunities to engage the best CDL drivers for the industry. The WIT simulator is our way of showing our commitment to that mission.”

A Simulator That Feels Like the Real Thing
Inside the simulator, drivers experience what it’s like to sit behind the wheel of a big rig and complete with responsive steering, blind spots, and the weight of a loaded trailer behind them. The latest upgrade brings multiple training modules, including:
- Highway driving
- Tight turns
- Backing into a dock
- Rainy and snowy weather conditions
While the look and feel of the simulator hasn’t changed much, WIT says the updated version is “dramatically faster and much easier to set up,” making it even more effective for quick, high-impact experiences at live events.
WITney® Continues to Inspire the Next Generation of Drivers
The WITney® Educational Trailer isn’t just about simulation; it’s designed to promote trucking careers, especially among women, and to break down outdated perceptions about who belongs in the driver’s seat.
In addition to the simulator, the mobile exhibit features:
- Touchscreen kiosks answering Trucking 101 questions
- A “myth buster” section that challenges common assumptions about trucking
- A uniform display featuring women-specific workwear from Dovetail, Juno Jones, Safety4Her, and others
- Headsets with real stories from female truckers balancing family, life, and career
- A wall mural celebrating milestones since WIT’s founding in 2007
In 2024 alone, nearly 7,400 people stepped inside the WITney trailer to learn about life behind the wheel.
Whether it’s curious students, career switchers, or fellow truck drivers who want to sharpen their skills, the WITney trailer and now its upgraded simulator continue to open eyes and open doors.
